Cape Canaveral was chosen for rocket launches to take advantage of the Earth's rotation. The linear velocity of the Earth's surface is greatest towards the equator; the relatively southerly location of the cape allows rockets to take advantage of this by launching eastward, in the same direction as the Earth's rotation. It is also highly desirable to have the downrange area sparsely populated, in case of accidents; an ocean is ideal for this. Although the United States has sites closer to the equator with expanses of ocean to the east of them (e.g. Hawaii, Puerto Rico), the east coast of Florida has substantial logistical advantages over these island locations. The tip of the cape is at LC-46 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

    Casablanca is pretty forgivable

I mean it is a film classic but it isn't exactly an element of modern culture the way star wars is

Citizen Kane is a classic and amazing and a good film and all that. See it sometime, but it's more to be watched on technical, historical, and artistic merits than for fun.

    Casablanca?

    See that.

Managed to see it on a decent sized screen at a museum theater. Such a good movie.

well I mean a lot of the jobs it's designed for are jobs originally designed to be done by humans

The space program already has dozens of robots that aren't humanoid and can't do humanoid jobs.

    this one is and can.

I have watched hundreds of movies from all genres, foreign and domestic, from a wide range of decades.
I have only fallen asleep during one movie.
    And that movie was Casablanca.

    No color

    No CG

    No gratuitous sex scene

    No thanks!
I have owned Casablanca for like 5 years and still haven't watched it

I've only seen that one scene in Casablanca at the end with the plane and the crying and the blah blah blah.

    Never seemed that interesting.

Need a new film. Casablanca in space and instead of Nazis they're aliens and robots.
