Well again, I completely understand the weapon trees being specific to the class. Have to make them distinct somehow. I'm just.. surprised is too strong a word... that a warrior/fighter can't equip and use this stuff at all (I was expecting basic attacks only). Not a deal breaker by ANY means. Just, unexpected is all. I do think that the complaints most people make are, in the grand scheme of things, minor (for me). This is simply a nod to how great a job Bioware does things.
Thats my main problem with the console versions really, is that the pausing mechanic just isn't as visually pleasing (giant radial menu), or as easy (you have to hold down a button to get it to stay paused, if I am remembering correctly)
I seem to remember being slightly annoyed by radial menu visual clutter while paused and aiming in DA, but it's not really an issue in the DA2 demo. The radial menu is pretty damn transparent when you're just paused and looking around but not actively selecting a skill, and only becomes more opaque when you start using the left stick to choose something. Also, you can choose how pause works in the options menu. I usually keep it at paused only while holding down the trigger, but you can switch it to a toggle instead.
The lack of zoom in / out kind of bothers me a bit, but I'm used to that from the first game. The other issues aren't really issues at all though.
Wait. Warriors won't be able to use bows anymore? At all? Some designer never played D&D apparently...
The fighter carrying around the shortbow was kinda par for the course.
pre-order CANCELLED (are we still saying that?)
Man, my fighters never carried bows in DnD. I'd pick up a few levels of Sorcerer instead and then dual class into Dragon Disciple. Who needs bows when you can have wings (and massive Stat boosts).

Yeah that zany stuff didn't exist when I played. AD&D 2nd edition was the last I played.

That sounds suspiciously like a Neverwinter Nights expansion...
In D&D 3rd edition, archery was flat out terrible pretty much no matter what. The 'best' you could do was a Cleric with Zen Archery, using Wisdom for to hit, and even then it was only really viable because Cleric spells were amazing and could turn you into a god slayer.

Oh hey.
You can persuade Irving to go into the Fade to save Connor.
Does anyone have a full list of what's transferred from DAO/A/GoA/WH yet?
Many thanks.
This. I'm bumrushing TO right now to get working on Awakenings this weekend. And I just noticed I haven't completed any squad quests besides Alistair and Leliana's.

Morrigan's is the most fun, imo.
I'm so glad I'm switching to consoles. I don't have any imports to worry about. I'm freeeeeee.

I would like to play Awakening with my Dwarf Noble character. I'm very happy with how everything played out for that character.
However, there is no way I'm dropping $30 on that expansion. I'm hedging my bets and expecting Steam to do a Dragon Age weekend. I'll pay $15 for the expansion, blow through the 12 hour campaign in a few weeks, then kick it off with DA2.
Or I'll just, y'know, play DA2 because I don't care that much about the save carry-over. It'd just be nice to hear about the Aeducan Grey Warden and what an utter asshole he was.

What? The whole Flemeth thing? Wynne+Morrigan made that fight...uh...the game...rather easy.

In that case...
He and Isabella apparently shared a similar fate.
Shame, really.
You don't think DA2's Isabella is an improvement? T&A aside, she looks a lot better in the new one. The women in DA:O tended to have a certain sickly look.

You can't use Morrigan in that fight. Unless you're saying having Wynne or Morrigan in your squad at any time made the game easy.
And I didn't say the Flemeth fight was the hardest. I said it was fun.
Man, reading all the spoilers for DA2 makes me really want to go back through and replay Origins + Awakenings just so I can craft all the cameos to be just the way I want.
But that's an awful lot of work, especially after being spoiled by DA2's incredibly superior combat system.
Seriously, if they were to backport DA2's combat to Origins, I'd replay that game on a pretty regular basis.

Her facial features don't fit her entire body. Why does she have huge tits, huge ass, huge thighs, huge head, tiny lips and eyes.
If the art team is going to give her a crazy hot body, please, don't skimp on the face. Every time I talk to her in the game now I'll have a reason to stare at her boobs. There's not much reason to look at her goofy face.
I'll be the first to say that I think the female form in DA:O was grossly misinterpreted. But I'm not sure if fixing the body in spite of the face in a game whose story involves a great deal of talking to your party was a good plan.
And I'm just curious, have any of the developers/artists at Bioware's Dragon Age studio actually seen a woman before? Or are they just going by what they've heard?
Everyone's boobs are massive! Even Merrill's! She's a cute lil' thing but she looks a bit... top heavy.
Oh well, Hawke looks good. That's all that matters to me. It would be nice to be surrounded by beautiful iconic heroes, though. As far as I can tell the most polished non-player characters, visually, are Anders and Varric. Weird.

Marrill really does not have huge boobs, that one picture everyone was pointing to was 'touched up' by the marketing department. In game she's really slim.
And Isabella's face looks pretty good now, I have no idea what you're talking about. And no matter what its better than her looking like she has a serious skin condition like she did in Origins.
So long as Isabella has a neutral expression, I like her new facial design a lot better. As soon as she starts talking or her face takes on some kind of expression though, things go off. I think it's the eyes. They go all wonky during speech / expression, like they're bugging out or something.

Holy god! Did he become a heroine addict between Origins and now? Jeez!
And I'm sticking by my guns. Isabella is an improvement in the body department but that face just strikes me as odd. And I've got the demo running right now. Whenever she runs up to kiss Hawke I want to be able to Renegade interrupt and back away. Eek.
And Merrill has the elf body type, I've seen all the screenshots. But she has the DA2 boob type. Big. Biiig biig biiiiig. It just strikes me as awkward on someone so tiny. Hell it strikes me as awkward on anyone. I guess in the DA universe, women are just naturally more *ahem* busty? Hm.
Merrill really doesn't have big boobs, I promise. Show me what screens you're talking about, please.
Those things look massive.
What's her special power? Boobing people to death?
edit: She's also suffering from tiny mouth syndrome. Am I the only person who thinks that looks strange? How does she eat with that mouth? Is she on a diet of fruit snacks and flintstone's vitamins and anything that'll go through a straw?

Re: DA2 spoiler pic
Maybe you see him later on in the timeline of DA2 i.e. ten years or so after Origins? He's got some lines under his eyes it looks like.
Proportionate to her body yeah that's fairly large.
Also: I finished the demo and never saw anything about Hayder's Razor. Apparently you're supposed to loot it? But...I got thrown into conversation and then booted out of the demo before I could do that. What is the deal?
yeah her boobs look weird in those pics. Not just too big, but oddly shaped. like they're sitting too low on her chest.
edit:
oddfish you really don't think Isabella's face is an improvement?
VS
I agree she could have fuller lips (you mentioned tiny mouth tiny eyes), I think her eyes are fine though.
Overall she looks pretty smokin' to me. My malehawk will be all over that. Or to be more specific, his beard will be.
Those boobs look like they wanna run off and find a body type that works for them. I thought elves were like squirrells and just ate nuts and berries all damn day. All the hunting big game deal was their version of a wedding ring. I haven't played DA:O in a while, if you couldn't tell.
