Well, he didn't say (and neither did I...) that they will leave you if the "meter" or whatever will get too low. I guess that is still possible, but I doubt it will be that way.
There is no "low" on the meter. I mean, I guess if you keep it in the middle, that's low, but that just means they don't really have any opinion on you at all.
Erk, that's a bit disappointing. I mean I prefer it if it's based off of certain choices like some cases in Origins (e.g. Andraste bit).
I like the new way better. Having concrete ways of having people leave you makes it too easy to be a jackass in general as long as you avoid those specific moments.
This way, you have to be a lot more careful with what you say.
Also...man, Nightmare looks like you'll need a good tank with knockback resistance. His squishy teammates were just getting knocked around like ragdolls.
So we get stiff once in a while. So we have a little fun. What’s wrong with that? This is a free country, isn’t it? I can take my panda any place I want to. And if I wanna buy it a drink, that’s my business.

Yeah, the talk part was more interesting for me than any gameplay would have been because at this point they'd either be showing off the demo or spoilers, and...I have one and don't want the other.
I'm going to roll normal and see how it shakes out.
I mostly did casual in Origins since combat was the thing I did in between what I actually wanted to do, like playing dress-up or making Alistair do things he finds uncomfortable.

What he said was that taking a rivalry path is "risky." I'm hoping that means that if you're at near full rivalry and make a choice that goes against their core belief, they leave. Or absolutely anything that doesn't involve micromanaging that bar to keep it just high enough for them to stick around.
Actually, I was hoping that they'd have separate bars for approval and friendship/rivalry that were affected in different ways by the types of choices put in front of you, but that obviously didn't happen.
Yeah, with how ridiculously stingy they're being with healing abilities, I don't think I'll be doing nightmare until some of those values have been tweaked by mods
It should be stratospherically hard, enough so that players have to work together across the internet to get it done. Youtube videos of 90% runs of bosses, of optimal builds and perfect strategies.
I don't mind having a regular hard mode, even a super challenging mode. But for once I'd like developers to put in a 'getting raped' mode that is not just unfair but unfairly unfair.

you mean like fallout2 where you roll a diplomatic character with no gun skills, crank the difficulty up and then get mauled by cave rats? ;p

Planned out the talent build I'm gonna use on the first playthrough, with 24 available talent points. Sword and shield tanking warrior, so I chose Templar for the specialization. The two other specializations didn't seem very useful for tanking.
You really need basically all the Defender talents (Stonewall and Adamant are great). Skip the shield bashes beyond what's needed for prereqs.
At the very least, I would think Stonewall and Adamant would be genericly more useful than Elemental Aegis and Resolute, especially if your going to get Annulment from the Templar tree anyway.
...anyway, for my warrior build (which may be my starting build, I can't decide between that and Mage) I was thinking of seeing if I could make a 2-handed tank build... which would probably require less mitigation and more disruption to keep getting hit in the first place... I kinda think it would be fun! :P
So I'm guessing your mage's general goal is "Kill shit!" ?
Personally, without seeing all the talents for thier Specialisations, right now I'm thinking Primal/Arcane/Creation, with some Entropy on the side.
Primal gives everything my Mage needs to start and take advantage of any Cross-Class Combo, Arcane and Creation keeps me alive (with Mind Blast with stun + heal), in part by buffing my allies to kingdom come (I'm thinking if the Arcane Wall for Arcane Shield + Elemental Weapons from Arcane and Haste + Heroic Aura from Creation) and then perhaps Horror+Dispair for Crowd Control when Mind Blast isn't enough.
Blood Mage, Telekensis Guy and Spirit Healer are the specializations for the Mage.
You already know what 2 of them are. Blood Mage is the psycho trading blood for damage. Healer is the pussy ass bitch. The Telekinesis thing is new though. Might be something to explore.

Nah, I don't think so.
You're getting 50% damage resistance with just Shield Wall as a sustain. Stonewall only lasts five seconds and is an activated ability. Five seconds is a really miniscule amount of time, and I need to use my stamina for threat abilities, so enemies stay on my tank. So yeah, not getting Stonewall or Adamant.
Stonewall probably works alright for a two-handed tank, who doesn't have access to a weapon and shield warrior's damage mitigation.

I will be rolling on casual for sure, at least the first time thru. It's the story that's important mannn. THE STORY!!
Isn't that the purpose of having multiple difficulties? Something for everyone.
I went to see some gameplay not an interview! All he did was walk around and fight a dragon for a bit.
Honestly, I think the talk about concepts and why they're done is a lot more interesting.
Wasn't this stream supposed to show off the acquiring of Sebastien? Er, I guess that Dragon was probably part of it, but still

All right, people. It is not a gerbil. It is not a hamster. It is not a guinea pig. It is a death rabbit. Death. Rabbit. Say it with me, now.
Got his party killed on nightmare.
That satisfied me.

And not only that.
It was his hit.
Fireballed himself to death.
Friendly fire at its greatest.

Or an unarmed run in X-Com Terror From the Deep?
Why I fear the ocean.
ok now you're getting ridiculous.

Spirit/Primal/Elemental for me.

Essentially.
Them Spirit latents look almost like hacks. Regeneration of mana and health per corpse? And the amount regenerated with the upgrades?

For lore reasons I refuse to take Reaver. Fuck dragon blood!
