Desktop Memory Question

Hey guys, I had a quick question regarding memory on my PC. On my ASUS P6X58D-E X58 mobo there are six memory slots. I currently have the 2nd, 4th and 6th slots filled (each with 2GB Corsair memory sticks) for a total of 6GB memory. I'd like to increase it to 10GB+. What would be my best options and how should I arrange them? Do I have to fill every odd-numbered slot if I want to keep the three 2gb sticks in or could I buy maybe one 4gb stick and put it in slot 1, 3, 5? I ask because I have concerns about potential issues with six sticks of memory running on the motherboard simultaneously.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

your motherboard is triple channel and designed for 6 sticks running at a time, so just go get a triple channel kit of any size you like and put them in the un-used slots.
