I'm going to write a small training program for the new players. It step by step and should get people into at least platinum, probably diamond if they do it correctly.
Step 0 (optional). Play the campaign if you feel like it. It's quite funny and will at least give you a small improvement in your mechanics, especially if your new to e-sports.
Step 1. Before you even start up multiplayer read "eeSanG's basics of Starcraft 2" and "Dhal's newbie tips to improving the way you play Starcraft 2". It only takes a few minutes and will save you dozens of games getting to know some fundamental concepts.
Be sure to understand and hammer in concepts like micro, macro, always building workers and build orders.
Step 2. Your getting close, but there's one more thing you should do before you start. Find one, and only one, buildorder for the race your going to choose. I'd recommend the following 3 since they work in every matchup and will generally lead to games that transition in different directions.
(I'm a bit unsure if 2 rax orbital is the best newbie opening for terran, I don't play T).
Write this BO (build order) down on a piece of paper and stick it next to your keyboard. Now start playing.
3. Play 30-50 games. Every time you lose a game save the replay and watch it immediately! No excuses. The reason is that you are not good enough yet to really understand why you lost.
Every time you need to understand WHY you lost and think about what you could change. If you can't see it ask here for help.
Do not change your BO. Do not start to cheese even if you get cheesed all the time. Just learn to defend it, even if it means changing your BO on the fly when you scout it.
4. Watch a couple, but not to many, pro replays/videos. Some GSL, day9 or whatever cup you want.
5. By now you have fairly solid early game mechanics, your primary BO is perfected and you should have had some games that went a bit further than other. You should have a feel that your BO is not just that good on certain maps against certain opponents or that it doesn't do exactly what you want. That's good. That means you now have a game sense. Start learning other BO's. Experiment a bit with cheese, air play or whatever you feel like.
Do this until it feels a little bit boring playing around, probably 30-50 games again.
6. Now switch race and go back to 1. You do not have to play as many games as you'll get better a lot faster. Once you get bored with the race (took 10 games with terran for me) switch again. Go all the way up to step 5. This will give you a totally different view of the game and allows you to understand how and why certain things work.
7. Choose your favorite race. Just play. Watch some pro players at times. If you don't know why you lose watch the replay. If you know why you loose think about what you can do differently. From here most things will sort themselves out for you on their own.

I like having a better understanding of this game. not that blue flame helion drop is a difficult open or anything but in the past I'd have looked things up, needed number, needed to be told when to get my second gas
now I run two games and I know the best way to do it, my options afterwards (when I can expand or throw down rax if needed, optional transitions etc.)
feels good man
it's way to good of an open in tvt to not be doing it, but I hate diving into something for the first time on the ladder for obvious reasons.

To be fair, Vari, I made up a bfh build offracing Terran after two tries.
The only change from my first attempt was to not get a second gas because LOLOLOTERRAN

well yeah I'm not arguing that, it's more the change from how I used to be
but if you're doing it without a second gas it's not a drop right? I'm talking specifically about a drop cause I was always like 'well I don't know when to get a starport!' when I would consider using it on ladder. but it's pretty straightforward, yes... just you know, good to be able to figure out something for myself rather than looking it up.

Ohhh. I was giving you the "total" of my build, ie, what it finishes with as I attack
I probably don't need the 4 either, but in both cases it reduced my opponent to 1 (ONE.) worker :P (Gold leaguers.. I think)

In one of the games on Scrap, we were both going BFH. Apparently he was going with 3 bfh (and he was dropping before me) but I had scanned and saw it coming, so I completely deflected it (didn't get to drop, medivac + hellions lost)

Also, for Terran, I think that 2 rax Orbital and 3 rax stim push are similar enough that I can attest that yes, it does work, and is easy to get strong at
I've had great luck against friends, and even my recent ladder games, because I'm doing one build, doing it over and over, and doing it to the best of my ability every game. I can sense myself improving, and I can now easily tell you my overall weaknesses as a player. After about 50 more ladder matches, I'll start really perfecting the timings, and after 100, I may do the basic switch to Protoss and 4gate, just to shake things up
Feel like P could have walked over Z much sooner. Especially when he had crap for an army and waaaaaay too many corruptors.

I will throw you on the land and hurl you on the open field. I will let all the birds of the air settle on you and all the beasts of the earth gorge themselves on you. I will spread your flesh on the mountains and fill the valleys with your remains. I will drench the land with your flowing blood all the way to the mountains, and the ravines will be filled with your flesh. - Ezekiel 32: 4-6

So probably they could a little bit.
and there is CS where there should be SC2
so I closed it
but it is a terrible game to watch. There is just too much shit going on and the battles are so damn short.
League of legends and Wow are even worse.
"This build is so tight."
As in efficient, well designed and executed, etc.
Like reaaaalllly sure.

For zerg: 7 roach rush. http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/7_Roach_Rush_/_Expand_/_Lair
For terran: 2 rax orbital and then adding barracks http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/2_Rax_Orbital
For protoss: 4 gate http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/4_Warpgate_Rush

It's "lose".

EDIT: It's probably not very optimised, but it did well (against gold Terran players.. I think both were Terran?)
also, usually no there aren't! 3 helions and blue flame finish right when a medivac pops
My build has me constantly building hellions (after fac obv), blue flame finishes when the hellions en route in the dropship.
and normally when I see it done it's 3
whyh did you say 4 helions in a drop? it seemed like you knew I didn't have 4 even though I don't think I mentioned it
I probably don't need the 4 either, but in both cases it reduced my opponent to 1 (ONE.) worker :P (Gold leaguers.. I think)
edit - nice
Cost effectively killed by immortals, stalkers and zealots...
These games have been pretty good.

That's just what I've heard though, cause the stream's still dead for me.
e: Yay, it lives.
