The game is definitely fun, and I don't mind having bought it.
But it has little replayability, and yeah its tower defense aspects are pretty slim. It's really a 3rd person shooter with waves of enemies.
The lack of a difficulty slider really hurts it, it sucks that when you get to the higher gear there is only one or two maps that is even remotely challenging/worth playing.
Hmm...played the demo. It was ok but I dunno, I wasn't really blown away Am I to assume it's a lot better with other people?
I think the problem is that I was expecting more tower defense and less FPS but it's kind of the other way around; at least from the demo. I'm sure some people are fans of this but when I dunno, I kind of like the management aspects of tower defense games; as a fps it wasn't exactly compelling.
What does the demo entail? I can't imagine it got to the more difficult sections of the game that actually require strategy when playing with a group. Since you are much more limited by low amounts of scrap with 4 players, there is a legitimate challenge and fun to be had sorting out your emplacement... placements.
That being said, the game is on the skinny end in regards to content, but there's enough there to provide 10+ hours of enjoyment, and the game is 15 bucks. Think of it as a nice 6-pack of imported beer: good stuff while it lasts, cheap, and worthy of recommendation to friends.
I had a lot of (gold) success on the volcano level with the . . . Woodruff chassis? The standard chassis with 3 slots down one side, 2 support turrets, and a heavy turret.
I tossed a "Pancake" into the three slots - it doesn't list it on the weapon, but the MIRVs that drop from the Pancake are MAGNETIC! You just arc it over a row of tubes and it obliterates them, especially handy for hitting those hard-to-reach Jacobs in the back.
For the support emplacements, use whatever, but definitely take the sniper turret for your heavy emplacement. Toss them all over the jersey barriers and cliffs surrounding your base.
Once you have 4+ sniper turrets, they'll usually take out any bosses before they get close. The Jacobs are the only things that'll give your turrets trouble, and that's what you have the Pancake for.
Just killed the final boss like ten times in a row. Dual Gungnirs, Karlsson Mk IV, and Advanced Tripod Legs are the way to go. For anything else, a Gungnir and "The King" should do you just fine :P really hope there are some more shinies to collect, because I have many multiples of basically everything

I started selling my extra emplacements and chassis last night, only to realize that you can't sell just one when you have multiple of an item. D'oh.

Heh? You definitely can. You're just getting fooled by their weird organization of the item menu. Multiples of a rank 6 item, for example, take precedence over a single rank 6 item. So when you sell items, it reorganizes them and often makes it look like the item you just sold one of disappeared. As far as I can tell, it is just an illusion.

Oh, thank goodness. Inventory management can be the worst thing about this game.
So how do you get coop to work? I'm on the ship and I notice it says there are 4 spots available for other pilots... I have a feeling this isn't local is it?

Look for the Radio Room. Press A to find random allies, press X to find friends, and they will appear on your boat, along with your mechs. The glowing line on the floor will always point to your rig.
So does the flavor text not really matter in terms of a weapons damage output? Because this blue shredding machine gun I have says it's not as powerful as unmodified versions, but it's damage rating is higher than any of my other machine guns.

The text means nothing in terms of actual performance, no.

Delayed in Europe apparently? Can anyone shed some light on this?
Looking forward to getting involved in this.
Katsuhiro 1139 is my GT.
I still wish I knew why they are being dicks about all of this.
It's not anywhere close to reality. I mean flying television tubes?
Sheesh. The EU has some weird red tape.

Official line on Trenched's delay is, "Unexpected challenges with distribution in some European regions". Shouldn't take long!

For those asking about Trenched, its European release is delayed. No new release date has been set, but it'll be "as soon as possible".
Wow, I have been playing the shit out of this with a friend of mine. We cannot, for the life of us, gold metal the volcano level.
Also, I really love the artillery. Now that I have the best weapons unlocked, though, I find little reason to use any engineer chassis.
Yeah, that's my main gripe with the engineering chassis. All the uber cool drops are weapons (usually 3 slot), and the emplacement-based builds end up falling behind.
Nevertheless, I'll still rock the Honeychurch, because it is completely awesome to get a tough map locked down with upgraded turrets. Just sit back and watch my babies slaughter dem monos while I read a manly magazine.
Are we not just doing a massive gamer tag we all friend? I like you guys but I dont want to have to friend 50 people I dont know to play an arcade game.
Oh, some kind soul on gamefaqs posted a parts list. Dunno if it's complete, but it seems pretty close!

I only wish you could get emplacements with special abilities. Shredder MGs, Knockback shotguns, ricochet snipers. I would probably play more engineer trenches if they were available.
Now that I think about it, as much time as I spend in lockdown, I'm sort of like an emplacement with MIRV+, Shred+, and Shock...
Anybody else getting horrid lag? It's hard to even get people on the deck much less complete a whole match.

Just finished the game with my brother (and a little help from Karma Revolver on here during some earlier maps). Enjoyed it a lot, although it took him and I a while to figure out how to damage the last boss during one of his phases.
Then we went back and gold starred the Northern Pylon.
It feels like the lag issue is getting worse for me, I can't get a single playable match going at the moment. Bums me out that the population in my region just isn't enough to support an Arcade multiplayer release.
I'll keep trying, and please, any Pacific region people here (I'm widening the net) hit up this game and hit me up! GT is GutterKisser.
Also, why does everyone keep playing boss levels ad nauseum? I don't really enjoy them at all.

That sentence couldn't be more PR-centric if you tried.
It's out in Australia, so I'm guessing it has to be some form of red tape.

I have to rush to the spawns with ICPs at the start because that's close to where everything dies.
