Anything over 140-145 is "genius." It's also for the most part, not really able to be put on a scale above that number. Unfortunately, being a "genius" doesn't get you far without common sense.
Nobody complains when people say that an average person has an IQ of 100, or that a person with severe mental problems is said to have an IQ of 70. It's only when people give high IQs that they get shit for it. "Oh, well, IQs don't mean anything." It's true that they matter very little with regards to who's successful, and who is not. However, they are a very good measure of raw, cognative ability.
As an example, I have been IQ tested as a part of psychological experiments and when I was very young to see if I could get into some schools. They found my IQ to be a certain number, and my mom has told me this number once or twice, in the process of relating a story about how unfair it was that I didn't get in because I passed the test, but lost out on the lottery. As a consequence of these tests, I have known my IQ for much of my life.
Recently, someone at my job asked me what my IQ was. I estimate that it is a number around what it was when I was little, since it seemed not to change from that period of time until the other tests later on. I then made the mistake of telling him. Since then, he's made fun of me for telling him my IQ.
The moral of the story? If you have a high IQ, you are better off never revealing that you do. Even if the people ask you point blank to reveal your IQ, refuse, because everybody is a jackass.
Having a good IQ saved my life because this bandit guy like, he came out of an alley and like, at gunpoint man, he was all SOLVE THIS PROBLEM INVOLVING SHAPE SEQUENCES OR I KILL YOU MAN and I was like shit man, that's got to be D and he was all Yeah! Seeya! And he let me live.
I guess he's not really a bandit if he didn't rob me though.
I have no clue what my IQ is. I just consider myself smarter than most of the people I come into contact with because fuck, I meet some goddamned idiots.
I believe that there are multiple types of intelligences, so the IQ test seems pretty broken to me.
Does it test you on social skills? Physical skills? Reflective skills? From what I know, It just tests you on cognitive/problem solving skills, which only shows how you able you are in one area of intelligence

It's true that there are multiple types of intelligence, however, a 350 lb. linebacker isn't "physically smart" just because nobody can fucking move him.
I'm not sure if anyone has said any of these things, but here goes:
1) Psychometric tests are bullshit.
2) What "IQ" you have depends entirely on what test you take. On some tests, the distribution may be tight enough that 125-130 is considered "genius."
So we're here talking about IQ's and I go to put my shoes on. They're under my desk so I'm not looking, and the left shoe isn't fitting right. Well, they're just reversed, no big deal, I switch them around and go to put my right foot into the shoe on the left side.

That isn't what I think of for "Physical" intelligence.
For example, theres some people who can pick up a sport and play it like somebody who spent their whole life playing the respective sport. A kid on my HS basketball team began playing the sport a year ago and ended up starting over a kid who played since he was three.

I've also found that many times, a gifted student of mathematics will also be very smart with regards to music. To some extent, all intelligences fall within a range of each other. You very rarely see mentally disabled people painting breathtaking landscapes or composing music.

LJ Can I come to Colorado and play Star Wars D20 with you
If you came to Colorado, I would run a Star Wars D20 game for you. This is an open invitation to all forumers, and extends to D&D and Shadowrun as well.

Man, what?
You should probably just stop talking about this.
This is from personal experience, and if you can give me examples that are contrary to my experience, I will change my mind. I knew a bevy of kids in my elementary school who were incredibly good at the maths, and also were gifted at musical instruments. I am also not referring to autism when I speak of mental disablities, as autism seems to me to be a severe mental disability associated with social interactions, not "intelligence."

Yes, and as I said "rarely."
How many idiot savants, other than a few guys on Dateline and Dustin Hoffman's character, do you actually know about?
