This... I am actually spending time to decide how I name myself in a pokemon game: do I go with my regular in game names or my regular names...... choosing pokemon pssssh... I will get to that later.....

All consumable items are consumed, unless you are battling against a friend or in the Battle Tower.
Though it may have changed for Black/White, I doubt it has.
Wow, how delightful that there is an NPC in the second town that straight up gives you a super effective pokemon to fight against your rival's pick. Handy indeed.

There are apparently ways to work together in the dreamworld or something, I tried it today with my housemate, but... didn't work out. Not sure what we were doing wrong.
You do missions for each other and get item rewards, apparently.
As for trading, version exclusive stuff! Though I don't think I have any yet as I haven't gotten that far. I got sad when I learned that Mienfoo/Mienshao is only in White, and I have Black, and that kung-fu weaseldude looks like my favorite in this gen.
The wife and I arrive literally just as they open the doors (11am). Pokemon not on the shelves when we get in. After waiting about ten minutes for the monkey to fetch some from the back, he comes back and tells us "They pushed the release date back to April."

Uh... no, they didn't. And your info kiosk says there are 10+ in THIS store. Manager called. He checks it out and returns the following: "We can only sell the DS bundles today or we'll be fined."

I think you just live by a stupid store. Mine had them out at 11 just fine. And no manager would call Corporate for that, they'd only need to check the system (or our website) and it would tell them the release date.

I have a little tale about Best Buy as well. I go to the Wii/DS aisle and only see SS/HG. I hear at the end of the aisle parents and a few kids bickering. The parents are yelling at the kids to pick a game. My brain goes off and I go over there. Bam. Pokemon. Not really much of a tale, but I will say that they kind of ruined this game for me with their stupid bitching. (well, not really).
Actually, the exact same thing happened to me at best buy. I went in, the lady at the pickup had no clue what I was talking about, wandered off and came back 5 minutes later saying "They say it comes out on the 8th". I said I was 100% sure that's not true, she checked the computer and then said "it says April 1st in here". Took 15 minutes of finagling to get my damn preorder.

I'm almost positive that you get a crapton more boxes once you get the national dex.
1) How did they not streamline this system? It's still the same method of selecting deposit to put Pokemon in, backing out to go into withdraw mode, etc. Still such a pain.
2) There are eight boxes. Surely the game will let you add more. Surely?
It adds more over time.
And why don't you just use the move feature thats been there since Gen 3? It lets you take pokemon out, put pokemon in and everything.

Hey, Omeks. Use the 'Move' command over everything else, and drag stuff around with the stylus. EASIER.
Also, put one (1) pokémon in each box, quit out, then open the PC again. MAGIC.

Picked up the game today and I am LOVING it. The updated graphics, the polish, my new water starter... the whole experience is just... smoother . I've decided not to look at any guides so the whole experience can be fresh to me. It's funny, I really am getting that sense of wonder I got back when I played red so long ago... But in the meantime, I've gone from a naive middle-schooler to a doctoral student and respected biologist. With this new game, and my acquired abilities I will begin work on my GREATEST masterpiece!

I should quit my job and do a doctorate. (Biologist too, specialised in macrobiology and ecology, ended up in microbiology and genetics.)

Ohh, it's based on the actual month. I see. For some reason I thought it wasn't, but that makes a lot more sense.
That's good, I thought it was based on a yearly cycle, meaning that I wouldn't get to do winter-related stuff until like, December.
Also, thanks for the box stuff guys. I guess I'm just not sure why they have 'Withdraw' and 'Deposit' options anymore when 'Move' kind of covers them both.

Main game beaten, was fun times. Did not do myself any favours crippling the exp my team got by switching up constantly and I ended up barely using Volcarona in the end; there go 8 rare candies I won't be getting back in a hurry. Fortunately Haxorus can solo the Elite Four, but they throw you a major curveball at the end of this game.

Haha, awesome to see another biologist! I'm currently neck-deep in mammalian physiology. I give you fair warning though, if you go for your doctorate they will pay you little money and treat you like a slave until you graduate (but now I have a brand new pokemon game and I can take it out on the little buggers in my party instead of on the undergrads I TA)! I'm sorely tempted to see if any of the undergraduates I teach has the game at the start of the next lab.
