In the market for a new desk (in the near future)

So, I've been placing most of my art materials... no, scratch that. Computer, accessories, and assorted drink containers on the same desk for roughly the last 15 yrs. It really is a gorgeous desk that my grandfather crafted when I was 12, and is still in outstanding condition barring normal wear and tear from moving, but sadly it was built for someone who was 12 at the time. In all actuality, this is a two part question.

I'd like a new desk that fulfills the following qualifiers:
1. Leg room!
2. Even more desk counter space than the leg room!
3. 1-2 drawers, bonus for a pull out what I can only describe as a cutting board for mouse/pad placement.
4. Easily transportable. Love my apartment, not setting roots down here.
5. Only looking at roughly 150-250 dollar range for price.
6. Plexi-glass/Glass tops are right out. Don't care for the texture, and I despise moving things that could shatter during the move.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated for this!

Now for the 2nd part...
As I said, the desk I am currently using was hand-built by my grandfather who has since stopped crafting furniture. Out of all the furniture he built total for my little brother and I, this desk is in the best condition. The bunk beds were given away, my brother's desk looks like it could be used for early Jamie Hewlett or Steve Purcell reference work, and the toy chest has been rebuilt at least twice. I guess my question is, what do I do with the current desk once I find a more practical replacement? As much as I enjoy donating to the local DAV or Salvation Army, I'd really rather not see this end up as some little punk's wittling practice. And short of donating it to a school, I'm coming up blank. I don't have the space to hang on to it as a keepsake, and I keep enough furniture at my parent's respective houses as it is.

Please help!

Edit: Something L-shaped would be favorable for a replacement.

I-beams need lovin' too!

If you really believe that you're going to moving a few more times over the years, do yourself a favor and just get a sturdy folding table. Anything else you can buy is going to be heavy and you'll destroy it after moving it a few times. Save the awesome workstation for when you do plant those roots.
