We just finished reconstructing a Little Orphan Annie Decoder Ring from the 1940s. Like the one in "A Christmas Story". Because one of the cryptic messages referenced Ovaltine.
I think it's telling re:my sanity that I no longer see anything unreasonable about that.

I refuse to sink into the madness of an ARG after the I Love Bees one. It was great and all, and I still love the story that unlocked, it's like a great radio drama. But man, the lines, they blur.
So, Sanctum is pretty great. And everyone should try it. The music, the graphics, the challenge, everything is just fantastic. Having a lot of fun with the strategic elements in it. No multiplayer server browser or matchmaker though, but keep in mind this is still in beta at the moment, and i read in the forum that they are working on it right now and whats there in the game for multi is only a place holder for the browser/matchmaking they are working on.
can't wait to try multi, seems like it would definitely be a blast for it.
Playing the Sanctum beta; disappointed with the number of tower choices so far, hope we get more on launch.
There's a mortar tower and a slow field that appear to only be available in multiplayer, but I honestly think the number of towers is fine. Many tower defense games have a billion towers, which mostly results in not having any idea what to build.
Greenmangaming sent an email with a couple decent deals:
* All week: Get Sniper: Ghost Warrior for $9.97
* Monday: Get East India Company Collection for $4.47 * Tuesday: Get Just Cause 2 for $8.98
* Wednesday: Get Lara Croft & The Guardian of Light for $4.48 * Thursday: Get Sid Meier's Civilization V for $19.97
* Friday: Get SEGA Dreamcast Collection for $14.98 * Saturday: Get BioShock 2 for $9.98
* Sunday: Get Tomb Raider Anniversary for $2.98
The bolded are steamworks games, though the only ones that I'd say are outstanding prices is today's just cause 2, and tomorrow's LC:GoL

Guardian of Light is Steamworks too, unless they've made multiple versions that aren't multiplayer compatible.
I thought so, but it wasn't on the big page with all the games that can be registered. But looking at greenman's website, it mentions needing steam so it probably is steamworks too.
Nah, I figured that out already, strangely enough. :P I'm just wondering how their system works, because the concept of digital trade ins is really weird to me.

From what I can tell you're basically trading in your right to further download the game from them for a certain cash deduction on other games. (and possibly even use those games if they have some type of DRM i assume)
I have Imperium Romanum Gold from them and the trade-in for that is $1 (I got it free in the short period it was available for free so not bad xD). I've never installed it though so I don't quite know how their capsule thing works. I did buy Just Cause 2 from them before as well but apparently it doesn't count towards anything, even the $5 purchases to get a referral code
Then again maybe I didn't make an account for that purchase
Edit: Going by the fact that I can't play Imperium without the Capsule installed I'm going to assume you lose access to the game entirely when you trade it in.(makes sense)

I just want to say that Bioshock 2 is not actually Steamworks, as far as I remember. In fact, it actually uses Games for Windows Live.
Ambiance? What's that? I want my nuclear-ravaged wastelands filled with happy little trees and sunny meadows. And NPCs just aren't credible unless they're immensely physically attractive - rule of thumb, if I don't want to stick my dick in it, it shouldn't be on my screen.
See I actually agree with all those trees being there. If the area was forested before, it should be forested some 300 years after the bombs dropped, irradiated water or not. Trees adapt much more quickly and don't suffer as much from ionizing radiation as we do.
I'd like to be in it, but I don't play online multiplayer games right now (iffy internet). If theres some sort of limit or something dont bother with me then. I wont have good internet for like 2 months.

The problem is that it looks ass ugly and amateur as hell.
The point is, yeah, there's an argument to be made about realism and what we know about real fallout. The mods that address such leave much to be desired not for that, so much, but for the lack of even half-decent art direction or artistic vision.
A few do a decent job. I liked the one that changed the sky and atmosphere to a normal, desert appearance. Most look like... well, the above. ;-)
Missed your chat question in GOTR room regarding Bulletstorm. It runs just as well as it did on my friends PS3 and I have a shitastic card. I'm definitely onboard with picking it up, just have to wait and see what sort of price drops we'll get in the sales. I wouldn't get it for 50% that's for sure. GFWL and all that.
So I'm probably hella late to the party on this, but what's the deal with this new Steam Guard stuff? I just started running into it today, and every time I reboot my PC it thinks I'm logging in from a new location. Is Steam going to nag the everloving fuck out of me if I turn Steam Guard off?

Yeah, you're not wrong that there would be regrowth, but sticking a bunch of perfect green leaves onto scorched dead wood is completely wrong.

Striving for realism in the fake science sci-fi setting of Fallout is what really strikes me as wrong. May as well get rid of all the energy weapons and mutants and stuff. The wasteland is an outward expression of the Fallout worlds black humor and hopelessness.

As a Steam account holder, you can now take advantage of Steam Guard, a new feature of Steam that enables an additional level of account security. Your account may already be protected by Steam Guard, as the new feature automatically begins protecting your account once you've verified your email address with Steam.
With Steam Guard enabled, anyone attempting to login as you from an unrecognized computer or browser must first provide additional, one-time authorization. A special access code will be sent to your contact email address, and this code must be entered into Steam before your first login on an unfamiliar computer is complete. You will also be notified if any login attempts from computers other than those you've authorized occur. Steam Guard essentially acts as a form of "User Rights Management," where you as the user have greater control over access to your stuff.
To read more about Steam Guard and learn how to protect your account, visit our Steam Support knowledge base.
It's just an extra layer of security for your STEAM account. If it's currently causing issues for you, then you can disable it. (the STEAM client won't nag you about it)

Edit: this is all a bit off-topic, though.
I feel that all these points might be totally fair if the mods were commercial products and not amateur and hobbyist projects. People do these to have fun and try various things out. Nothing more, nothing less.
Swinging back over to Hoard, the game lists xbox controller as recommended. How does that work with my Mac OSX? Do I need to buy a USB wired controller to use?

Most of those actually just use the assets that already in the game. Essentially it's the trees in Oasis, but everywhere.
I'm the only person in the world who enjoyed AVP =( Well, I enjoyed it for what i paid for it anyhow, $5.
I keep going back and forth on whether or not I want it. I heard mixed things about the campaign. And considering the lateness in which Id be arriving to the party, the campaign is really all I'd get out of it.
Is there a way to schedule STEAM downloads to begin at a specific time? I have unlimited bandwidth after midnight and so would rather my game downloads begun then while I sleep.

Did you go on a spending spree or something?
I haven't had any time to tackle any of my thought-provoking games in months.
DoW 2 Retribution technically added a bunch of chaff to my games list.

After getting divinity 2 I am exactly 21cents short on the just cause 2 deal.
Oh well. What's the deal with their trade in system?
Not applicable with Steam games
