As for bards, I've often lost to them on the healing meters as my pure healing cleric (my main bar has 1 non-healing spell on it, and it's a pushback). Granted, currently I am on the low end of my warfront bracket, but I feel like I'm making more of a difference than the meters show. I've had a few games where I've held the fang for a large majority of our 500 points, constantly healing myself while I'm getting zerged, healing everyone else when I don't have the fang, and still I can get beat by tons by bards on the meters. I think it's just that I only have 1 aoe heal at this point, and it's rarely the best choice for me to use. If I spammed that I might top the meters, but I wouldn't be helping.I'm keeping someone alive who is getting dropped from 100% hp to 10% over and over again, but mathematically it's not as much as someone who is topping off everyone else in the raid who is at all under 100%.
I think bards are a great utility class, but the way the meters work make it seem like they're dominating when they're really not. It's the same thing as spamming whatever aoe you have in a rift to make the game think you're contributing more than someone who is focusing target to target.
Wow, I am really enjoying Champion/Riftblade/Beastmaster. I may have finally stumbled on to my leveling combo. I've been struggling for a while to find a combo I really liked, but this may be it.
Do you have a link to your build? The talent calculator recommends using Paragon with Riftblade but I don't see the advantage of dual-wielidng with the Riftblade talents. Are you using a 2-hander or sword and board?

I'd heard that Beastmaster kind of sucked. Thoughts?
I've been running a Paladin/Riftblade/Void Walker for general tanking and leveling purposes. I just wish they'd called paladin something else, simply because I hate the flavor of such classes. The abilities are great, however.
Beastmaster is a great secondary or 0-point soul. There's no pre-30 DPS build that shouldn't have it, really.
Sorry for the late reply on this. CaptainK is correct, it's great as a zero point third soul. The pet is just free DPS, plus it gives you a base physical attack (Fierce Strike) that does the same damage as Power Strike (your base Champion attack), gives you an AP and gives the mob a debuff that causes your pet to do 20% more damage. Since it's physical damage, it takes advantage of most of your Champion talents.
So it's really just free DPS along side a Champion/Riftblade build.
Hmm. You've convinced me for leveling builds. Would it be a decent add-on to a tank? My tank is currently Paladin for obvious reasons, void walker for fuck you spellcaster reasons, and riftblade for the ranged attack and the AP-burning attack that doesn't trigger the GCD. Wonder if I should try to fit it in there.
Edit: Also, I saw a Knight of Arcadia in a battleground last night. He was a very take-chargey, boss the group around sort. Which of you was it? :P

Nah, I don't think it would be very useful for a tank. I would stick with Paladin/VK/RB. Once I am done leveling this guy, my tank build will be Paladin/VK/*, not sure what the * will be yet.
I don't heal in warfronts on my cleric if there are bards present. I'll toss out spot heals, but the AoE healing from endless energy that bards provide is far beyond anything I can provide as a cleric. Void Knights and Dominators drain all my mana anyway so sometimes it's just not worth bringing a cleric into the warfronts at all.
that was fun I just 3 manned IT cause 1 person left for work and another afk'd
stromcaller dpsing everything to death yaaaaa
How's your character build looking?
I'm interested in what people do as stormcaller, I just can't stay alive with it as long as my other builds.
Well since I didnt know what I was dong at start I picked the souls that went with stormcalelr or the game said anyway.
So I have stormcaller/elementalist/dom
So basically i maxed out crit and a lot of the lightning/air effect stuff and in elementalist put points in critting as well
So my spells often crit a lot more which helps me dps a bunch of folks down at once.
Soloing wise my pet, transmorgify, and my ability to root things help me out but ocne they get in range I have to hit my run away thing and try to keep my distance but it usually doesnt work to well for me.
Also thanks to everyone about roles I bougth asecond one now that I know what it means.
What's a good secondary soul to pick up?
I was thinking either healer role for my mage so I can fill in for dps or heals or maybe try necro/warlock so I can live longer.

Someone know for sure if the champion two hander % increase works with spears? As far as I know in the open beta it still did not apply and only the paladin's one handed dmg % increase worked. Some guy had tested it and had spreadsheets and crap backing the claim up.

Not really sure. I don't use the Spear spells very often.

The spear spells do not use weapon damage at all.
I remember testing spell damage on them and it did not work either (in beta).
The only thing that will modify the spear damage is ability damage modifiers (champion has an early trait that will buff it).

Probably Take No Prisoners, which buffs all non-AP using damage abilities by 2/4/6/8/10%.
Riftblade strength modifies spear damage, along with every other ability that does non-physical damage.

How many people are in Knights of Arcadia on Faeblight? What time zones generally? Right now my current guild has less than 15 people, and they are from all time zones and me being limited to PST evening playtime makes it very difficult to get any sort of 5 mans done (I ran AB yesterday for the first time with guild in two weeks). I'd like to start doing some expert dungeons too. I don't even know how we'd get 20 mans in? How's the raiding situation with KoA?

I'd say we (Knights of Arcadia) range over several time zones, but there is often anywhere from 6 (Early morning) to 30+ (Evenings) online, varying in levels, but most probably in the 20-30 level range. (I'm spitballing here, I'm at work and I can't check the guild roster to gauge an averge level.)
@whoever was asking about how to self heal in PvP while targeting the someone else, here is a general macro i saw in the cleric forums. I'm assuming you'd need to tweak it a bit to get the proper names in etc...

Yeah, it'd have to be tweaked but that's pretty typical. basically default heal on target if target is selected, else alt heal to heal a focus target, or ctrl heal to heal self.
I'd tweak it like so
#show Heal
cast @mouseover heal
cast [alt] @focus heal
So basically you get a mouseover heal that will cast on any cursor target, if none then on target you have selected, if target is selected but is not friendly AND has a target friendly then lastly cast on that.
Otherwise, alt to heal your focus target. With the mouseover option you don't really need to have a self cast since you can just highlight your frame or onscreen char and cast, in my opinion.

Another thing how do I enter warfront pvp? Do I just travel to that area or is there an npc that takes me to that place? Is lvl 20's low for that or am I matched with other lvl 20s.
I haven't done any pvp yet except for the 6 guardians that came to the iron fortress area and began ganking people.
Oh man I finally did a dungeon as something other than bard. Assassin is pretty rude when you can stand behind stuff and backstab like crazy. Good times.
Whats a good level to run DSM? I wasn't even paying attention back in Freemarch. By the time I hit 24 over in Stonefield I realized I completely skipped IT. I'm currently 25.

Beta levels of Rift XP gain? YES-FUCKING-PLEASE.
Tired of questing, I want to Rift my way to 50.
Man, I hope they aren't exaagerating the boost. I loved the rate of XP generation from rifts in beta. It was less a supplement and more an alternative to rote questing, and it was awesome, like a third column of advancement next to questing and pvp.
