Rift macro system isn't quite that robust yet, GT. I'm just happy they at least got @mouseover in. That one little macro modifier helps out a ton.
Edit: But here's hoping enough feedback gets in that they eventually make it as robust as wow's
They'll get there. You figure WoW's wasn't near this robust until TBC came out (I think that's when they started adding the modifier syntax), so Rift is already on the right path.
So, I guess I'm going to be out of the game for... a while. My monitor just.... completely took a shit tonight. The screen went dark and... nothing. I turned everything off, then back on, and it lit up for about 8 seconds, then went dark again. And it's not a connection either, I can't bring up the monitor menus, which are completely separate. The buttons on the side light up, so I can tell it's opening the menu, but the screen is just dark.

Sounds like a blown capacitor. That happened to my old LCD as well. I could never get the damn thing apart, without breaking it, to fix it though.
It's funny, I chose playing a Rogue for live because I was thinking of going Marksman.
And I ended up enjoying the hell out of Bard.
That is because Bard is composed of equal parts awesome and badass. I was skeptical when the husband suggested I go with Bard after having played Marksman through the beta but when I finally heeded his suggestion I was floored. Being at the top of Black Garden in heals consistently also provides a nice feel.

I was just reading the same thing on some tech forums somewhere. I'll have a look tomorrow and see if I can get it apart without destroying it. I can't afford a new monitor right now. Or anytime soon, to be honest.

Hah, so much for catching up to me. :P
At least I got my robopony. I'm confident I'll still beat Shail, though. ;-)

Are the login servers down? I'm finally home and looking to play me some Rift, but I can't connect to the game or the website.
At least you have a monitor!
[/bitter]
If I could make a suggestion here, it might be worth your time to pay some neighborhood kids to dress up in capes and act out a swordfight while you type on your keyboard. Don't just play the adventure, LIVE IT!

I think if I go to my neighbor's house (an Ex-UFC Fighter) and ask his kid to dress up in a cape and have a sword fight, a broken monitor will be the least of my worries.

I've tried this. I suggest you roll a baby-sitter. They have much better CC.
If you can't laugh at detonating children, who won't you be able to laugh at next, the elderly? Slippery slope, people.
I'm stepping away for a bit. I keep logging in for 2 hours trying to find the new thing that'll keep me going, but my interest fades in those 2 hours each time. I don't know if it's the game or the genre that I've been playing for 12 or 13 years now.
I would like to continue stalking the forum though. Maybe I'll come back after I take care of some fake life stuff with a fresh perspective on the fun of it all. I think I blame WoW for killing my love of the journey.

Turns out (I think) that the reason I can't log on is because of my horrible ISP. Two thumbs up LG Dacom! Just kidding, I can't wait until whoever gave you sole-source contract on base gets thrown in jail for taking some sort of back-door bribe because that's the only reason such shitty service could have won that contract.

Mmm... playing on one monitor ... while reading about your monitor issues on another.
Not that I'm bragging about having 2 working monitors, Mercy.
I'm going to make Acid mail me one of his from Canadalandia.
Sure thing, I'll just pack my 47" LCD onto a moose-courier. Keep in mind that you'll have to buy a maple syrup to electrical outlet adapter to get it to work with your equipment.

Blah, work is interfering with my game playing time. *sigh*
Hit 36 last night and finally got armorsmithing past 150. They have chain and plate shoulders for lev 35 that add 17 to focus and hit respectively. For me the 17 focus turned hit on cleric gives me a 3.46% (it was 3.something) extra chance to hit. I'm hoping it helps out a little.
Roommate wants to be run thru FC so tonight he'll tank that while I heal and we may try KB after that to see how it goes.

Greetings Starfighter! You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the frontier against Xur and the Ko-Dan Armada.
We need more healers in WF. I shouldn't be this far ahead as a bard.
Well from how your heals work, you should be high in just healing alone.
From what I can tell with my cleric as mainly purifier in pvp, a ton of my support comes from shielding people and not healing... I'm pretty sure damage absorbed by shielding isnt counted as healing. It helps that bards can keep some non-stop heals going and I would assume thats why they tend to top the numbers, but I like that I can save someone at 5% HP and get them 100% with a huge shield buffer on top of that.
I think the best healing should have a mix on the team of course, a bard topping people off and a cleric keeping people from dying.
Just to see the numbers change, I have rolled a warden/sentinel spec for pvp and topping the charts in healing wasnt hard... but I couldnt save people as easily as when I am spec deeper into purifier and some sentinel.
As far as mana drains go... really, devs need to look into changing numbers on that crap. Right now I usually mana pot, then silence the person and get lose line of sight and drink... one plus in this game is you get out of combat pretty quick and drinking is so god damn fast. So ya I have ways to combat the mana drains, but if I dont have my team as a buffer then I'm pretty much fucked.... most I can do is delay death a bit by drinking a mana pot, silencing and then ending up getting drained again.
If all the mana drains were a dispellable DoT type thing, then I could see that being more balanced... but the direct ones are just to big of a %.
I im 14 and rolling a Void Knight/Paladin/Reaver set-up.
I just opened a second role.
Any recommendations?
Ideally I want roles for PVP, tanky (rifts or dungeons), and solo dps (i solo quest a lot).
PVP Void Knight seems fine so far in PVP and can PROBABLY do fine in dungeons until I open a 3rd role. So that leaves solo dps.
I'm doing Paragon/Champ/Paladin and it seems pretty boss for single target solo dps. I can handle about 3 mobs up to a couple levels above me before I run into trouble. Having 2 weapons means I get to use my pre-order weapon rune twice, which is a nice bonus as well.

I like this necromancer.
Rockin' out in Expert King's Breach, with Drok and the boys.
This is what you rogues have to look forward to. All blue gear from the level 48-50 regular dungeons. This is how you'll look going into 50.
CorriganX on Steam and just about everywhere else.
And I ended up enjoying the hell out of Bard.

Bad, very very very bad.
Don't worry I laughed too.

I was very confused by this last night too. I'm assuming it's to make Apothecaries more desirable.
Or it was an accident. Who knows.
Hooray, people can look brown for free! Let's remove the vendor!
It's probably more that they could buy the brown die for free, then sell it for not free. It was "creating" money out of thin air.
