One thing to keep in mind, you aren't "just a bard", you'll be a Rogue. Wanna support as a bard for a bit? Go for it. DPS as melee or ranged later? Do it.
It's always so cute when someone asks what class/role he should play and then we just answer "You can be ANYTHING" and their mind is blown.
Every time I log in someone says "why did that cleric not heal me?" in some general chat channel.
I cry inside. Every time.
And odds are they're rogues.

I love that your name in the raid frames actually changes color depending on your ROLE and not class.
So there could be a Rogue in there with the healer/support color or a Cleric with the DPS color.
Thanks for the macro help, since I used that its made beating things up way easier. Really liking my shaman right now, able to take on way more creatures without feeling like I'm in danger and chain looks cool enough.
Thanks for the guild invite as well (I'm tvrosh consonant man). Got my weapon smithing up to low twenties this morning and made myself a new hammer. I'm toying with the idea of buying the digital collectors edition upgrade for the free mount since I never seem to have enough money.

RE: Tier 2 plaque changes
With our latest 1.1 PTS update we added a number of dungeon daily quests intended to replace the current low value zone quest rewards. Between these new quests + monster kills most players will see a return to a solid investment of time vs reward especially those players who are a bit more casual.
As I mentioned in my eariler post we also have a number of new items that will be added to dungeons in 1.1 or shortly therafter.
As with anything we'll continue to monitor player progress and feedback and adjust accordingly

I love how they are removing "of the Fortress" items.
I imagine the item designer who came up with them coming to work one morning, finding his desk cleaned out with his personal belongings in a box on top of it. A tiny envelope rests on it, the letter inside reads "Letter of canceled contract of the fortress: +20 Endurance".

I plan on taking a second role for pure healing on my cleric, but I'll be damned if I low level run around like that.
Indeed.
Right now I have 3 roles (too lazy to actually spend the money on the fourth one since these 3 do fine).
Role 1 - healer - sent/warden/puri
Role 2 - tanker - just/sham/sent
Role 3 - AoE - Just/sham/druid
Tanker goes mace and board, healer and aoe use 2h hammer unless I can find a decent totem then healer may go mace and totem.

His severance pay is negotiable in endurance.
He'll say he doesn't really need all that endurance, and then his boss will reply "well I think we've hit on a big truth there."
So you can heal using a two hander? Good I don't having to take the role for groups, but I really don't want to have to carry around extra stuff in my already limited bag space for something I might not do too often.

Yep, plenty of Spellpower on 2h cleric weapons.

Yeah, 2h have a higher max hit and they have way more spell power then a mace and board since boards don't usually have SP on them. SO unless you plan on tanking 30+ you do fine with the 2h hammer/staff
basically once you get justicar high enough to get the block skills then a shield is good. Otherwise, you always find the best 2h you can that has a high end damage + High wis and Spell power. Since that SP equates to AP you get a huge boost in damage when swinging it in melee. and the SP of course directly benefits your heal spells.
When you go rifting in the later levels you can in most cases have Just at 11 for reparation and with Mien of Honor your hits transfer a LOT of off healing to members around you. The SHEER number of green text scrolling by is just a beauty to behold.

Crafted 20-slot bags have evened out to a very reasonable price on the AH, so you'll have 20x5 slots fairly early. You won't be clogged up with spell reagents, ammunition, etc. I've never found a problem with bag space, and I have two harvesting professions.

Well I'm only level 13 and mountless, so money is an issue for me right now, haven't even made it to an Ah.

The 12 slot'rs shouldn't be too hard to craft in guild. Surely someone can make you 4 so you have your on char bag slots filled in.
Well I don't want to bother anyone when I have nothing to really give in return. This morning I bought a couple 8 slots from a vendor.
Preacher what server are you on? I know of FaeBlight I can easily make 8 and 12 slot bags (all I might need from you is some cloth that you likely have already from mob kills). Also many of the higher levels could easily afford to loan/buy you a mount

I'm on faeblight (Tvrosh I just joined the guild yesterday). And I don't really want a loan or something, but bags would be nice. Only cloth I have right now is burlap? I have like a stack of 50. A couple more 8 slots would be nice.
Anyone have a a lowbie level 10 warrior who needs legs? I got a green this morning that looked all right, and I got my first of the fortress, a pair of shoulders I could wear, that was sweet.

Quit being a bitch and demand your complimentary bags!
Seriously though, I have a few stacks of silk bolts in my bank I can always use to burn on bags for guildies now that my alts are all set.
EDIT: Downside is that I'm at work.
Hehe well everyone is fresh into the game and god knows when I played WoW I didn't mind helping people but I was like "help thyself first newb!" Besides sometimes struggling is a fun part of the initial experience. I also am at work and will be till around 6pm pst.
Damn looking at the justicar abilities make me want to swap my sent soul for the justy ones if only for the aoe healing from damage.

Yeah, at this point after a month its easy to make most the bags up to the 14 slotters. That's why I was suggesting the 12 (think those are the linen ones?) since those will cover you fairly well given that there are vendors pretty much all over the maps that you can easily dump things off of during a running spree.
And cloth you will SWIM in. I've got over 20 stacks of composite cloth I can't even use at the moment on my cleric since she's armor/weapon/mining. I really need to level an outfitter alt. LOL.

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I wasn't able to read through 72 pages of posts. I'm in a state right now where I'm only logging into WoW on raid nights, two days a week, so I thought I would give Rift a try. The Bard class sounds really appealing to me as I played a Bard in EQ and loved the hell out of it. It seems like, based on what I've read, that keeping up the Motif buffs while running Cadance/Finishings for debuffs has a lot of EQ-Bard song twisting-esque feel to it. To anyone thats playing a Bard that maybe has experience with the EverQuest variety, is this an accurate statement?
Also just generally, are they a pretty sought out class at lvl 50? Based on what I've read it seems like they would be, but I dunno if that WoW mentality of "wtf is a support class?" has carried over or not.
To answer your question, yes, you will like the Bard in Rift if you loved the Bard in EQ. It's not as complicated as the old song twisting was, but even at like level 15 on my Rogue when I was toying with it I was keeping up 3 different motifs each with 30 second durations, and the extra healing your cadence does and what not is very cool.
I would advise you to get your 2nd role asap(it's only 30 gold which is nothing) because questing solo as a Bard would probably feel insanely boring to me, but it's a blast at Rifts and stuff where you're buffing and healing a bunch of people.
BTW, since I've been posting some things in this fine thread, I wanted to throw my in-char name out there. Even though I'm not in the PA guild.
I play Cenera and Vivid, Guardians of Sunrest.
I am actually not into pvp much but I like the openness and for some reason of all the servers I played, the characters I created on Sunrest clicked with me so I stayed there. If any of you fine Defiants here run across me be sure to /wave.
Actually, so far of all the Defiants I've run across only one was mean (and strangely horny). The others have actually been pretty fun. One was giving me a fashion show of his skeleton mount which was very cool. I've found on the couple of times I've played on PvP servers that one thing I enjoy about them is that it's much more interesting and meaningful when you interact with the other side: PVE you have to be nice because the game won't let you be otherwise; PvP, knowing that you could kill each other but choose to chat and help each other out with a mob, it's that much cooler.
Just wanted to say I look forward to seeing you PAers around!
Yeah, I'm not on either the PA servers or guilds. I'm over on Aedraxis with my roommate right now. I really really love the fact that I can actually use say in game to talk to Guardian people and hold conversations. I had one I ran into called AJ who was doing shimmerscale elite mob in shimmersands for the bounty. I had just got done soloing it so we chatted about titles and the bounties and then shimmer repoped and he killed it then we chatted about the upcoming invasion event before moving on.
