Well, it's not like they're doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. It's nice to see, but they are in this to make money, and it's just common sense to keep your playerbase happy when you're counting on continued monthly fees.
Yes but the thing is, I've never honestly seen a company running an MMO respond with the swiftness that Trion is.
One thing I wish they'd do is make spell effects a bit more different between classes. Would make picking targets for killing and CC in warfronts a bit more intuitive. Now I see someone shooting shadowy stuff and all I learn from it is that it can be a mage, cleric or a warrior.
...Which is in great part due to my WoW account being compromised and contested by someone else. *sniff*
I've been informed that it's my turn to Tank.

Defiants going to Scarlet Gorge, find Uriel Chuluun at the top of the zone *first*. She gives you a quest to kill death rifts. Don't leave finding her until the end like I did.

I don't think anyone believes that the Trion devs are changing things back out of the goodness of their hearts. But as someone who played Champions Online at launch, where basically everything got nerfed right after the game went live, something like this where Trion is rolling back changes that proved to be too extreme is like a breath of fresh air.
Makes me glad I caved in and bought the game even before I've had the chance to play it. This lack of playing is due to me having downloaded the entire game from Steam only to now have to apply almost another gig of patches.

Well, yes, aside from the players still waiting for their hacked character to get restored.
They'd do a lot for their good will by making an announcement after all of this that all hacked players are getting a free month.

That's kind of unfairly punishing everyone that didn't get hacked. Then again, I dunno, I've had my account hacked approximately once, in one game, ever. It was WoW, by someone that got my hotmail password somehow, and it was fixed within appx 2 days. So, I think a free month is pretty excessive, but yeah they should do something.
I guess I just don't feel as much sympathy because I couldn't really play for about two weeks because of the lag since my ISP uses lines that run through Japan, as I've been incessantly complaining about. Furthermore, I couldn't play until 2 weeks after the game went live because of work and shipping time, then when I finally could play I found out they changed the ports the game uses which effectively blocked me off from playing, so I had to go purchase a VPN account. Then I renewed my account two days ago, and guess what, today it looks like they finally worked something out w/ my ISP to stop blocking those lines.
The game itself has been fantastic, but my god the technical issues, not just for me, but for everyone, have been pretty ridiculous. That said, Trion's done a lot thus far to build good faith and trust.

How is compensating players for over a week of lost time in any way punishing other players who weren't affected? If your mentality is "if he gets something, so should I," then I don't know what to tell you. Then, I read you complaining that your Internet is suffering because of the crisis in Japan. Your Internet. Wow.
edit: And the hacking you experienced in WOW was your own fault. The hacking in Rift was because of a security hole in the launcher that allowed hackers to login to any account they had the customer ID for. That's all they needed, and you can get that number by mousing over a name on the Rift forums and looking at the URL bar. There are still people who haven't been restored after over a week. So, you not having a secure email/password and being out for 2 days is not related whatsoever.
How on earth is favor calculated in this game? I did a Black Garden and got most kills, most damage, most carries, most carrier kills, second longest time carrying, and somehow got less favor than everyone else. I was level 27, too, so I don't think that was the cause.
I play on Sunrest and defiants always lose but I have alts on another shard, death something pvp sever.
Anyhow with my buddys guardians always lose which is a nice change.
Well I was looking at the ends of our matches and id usually be on top of favor but I always had the least kills, damage, healing whatever in them. All I really did was root/transmorgify/lower armor the enemy but it kept giving me the most.

Bizarre. Oh well. I'm looking forward to playing this in level 50 PvP. Was a nice change from my rogue.
I still don't understand why MMO's have to make the faction "heroes" gigantic.
It's actually something where they shun realism for the simple goal of making people able to actually spot them and look at what they are doing. Imagine them being the same size as players and standing in the middle of a raid. You'd have NO idea what is going on.

What's a good non-healer, low-level (16-ish) Cleric build for warfronts? I already have a healer role set up.
Shaman/Druid or full Justicar. I don't think you get enough toys in Inq/Cabal to make it the "pain game" that it is in the 20 range (and you dispense some pain). I mean you get the self healing Vex, but the real fun (for me at least), are the AOE spells that no one sees coming: Obliterate, and Soul Drain. Both are particularly nasty in Black Garden, and even more so when you get the instant crit (thats on a ridiculous 45 second cooldown). :winky:
Inq/Sent with 0 point purifier allowed me to literally solo win every warfront I did in the first bracket. Vex EVERYTHING IN SIGHT, then burn the carrier, shield, grab it (shield allows you to pick up the fang despite being hit) and meander back. Stand in the middle, vex anything that gets close, and roll your heals and shield to stay alive.
Soul Drain is massive AoE damage, your single target is pretty great, the instant damage spell from Sent is good for finishing people off, etc., etc.
I'd honestly say Inq/Sent/Puri is broken early on. And it's definitely fun.

Christ, looks like I touched a nerve. First, regarding my hacking experience, I only assumed that it was a hotmail compromise. I have no idea if that was the actual reason because after multiple virus/adware scans I never came up with anything infected, and I store my passwords in my browser cache, so don't go telling me that it was my fault. I don't download third party shit and I rarely visit any sorts of websites outside of trusted gaming sites. You telling me that it was my fault and/or making assumptions at how secure my shit is is a goose move.
I'll admit that my complaints are petty, and I have admitted so in the past, but what makes having your character down for a week worth an entire month of free play? I don't have an "if he gets something I should" attitude, I have a "people should be compensated at an equal rate of loss" attitude. Your account is hacked for a week? Have a free week. I wouldn't ask for anything more myself and I won't apologize for not having the type of mindset that would say "if I have to work a full day on Saturday as overtime for an emergency then I'm going to demand a week's worth of compensation." By all means though, carry on with your sense of entitlement.
There's no sense of entitlement. I wasn't hacked, but it has been confirmed it was not the fault of those who were--the Trion launcher was not secure and people were able to login to any account sans password. That's a pretty gigantic misstep on Trion's part, and people are still sitting around waiting for their characters to be restored. Further, they've been told not to even play these characters to ensure they can be restored.
And your hacking was your fault by the simple fact that you use hotmail. You shouldn't. It's garbage. I'm not saying you did anything to get yourself hacked, but you could have done more not to. And if you have to place the blame on either you or Blizzard, it's on you. Nothing Blizzard could have done would have prevented your account from being hacked, whereas in the case of Rift, it was entirely Trion's fault and the players could do nothing to prevent it.
That's why there should be compensation. It's not enough to say they get a free week because they were out a week. You compensate for time and frustration. It's a brand new game, and they've got face to save.
Sorry if I'm coming off as a douche, but you come in here and say
1) If they get compensated, the people who weren't hacked are being "punished."
2) You were hacked in WOW because someone got ahold of your hotmail password, and you were out 2 days.
3) You complain about technical issues not at all related to Trion (you had to work, your choice of courier was late in shipping the game, Japan is experiencing a fucking catastrophe, and your ISP is balls). These are not "ridiculous technical issues" to be throwing at Trion. These have nothing to do with Trion.
That's all in response to a very simple and completely reasonable statement like "Trion fucked up with their security and thousands of players can't play the game because of it. They should get something in return for their frustration."
If these people were hacked because of any other reason than Trion fucked up, I'd say let them wait. It was Trion's fault. It was proven. It's been admitted. Time to face the music.
And your hacking was your fault by the simple fact that you use hotmail.

To post something meaningful, there's changes coming for crafting. Are you also frustrated about not getting a SINGLE plaque since the game was released?
"Hey guys,
So as Udon mentioned looking at the plaques and epic recipes earned by them is on our short list of things to do. We never intended that the sole way to obtain plaques was through random daily reward chests. It was always our intent to expand the system to include a number of more intresting and involved crafting activities that guaranteed plaques and other awsome rewards.
As with anything it comes down to time and we just didn't have the time to get these in pre launch, and our first month of release has been focusing on bugs and major issues. That being said we're finally getting back around to this issue and hopefully we'll have some good news soon
2 Minor Catalysts are required for the 22 slot bags. If your intent was to mass produce and sell them, well, that may be difficult. They are very rare epic drops in AP/CC or you can buy them for 5 plaques each which you earn in tier 1 and 2 dungeons. 22 Slots are extremely nice, but Witchweave are 20 slots and they don't require nearly as rare materials.
I've been 50 as long as Corr has and I don't have any plaques despite having done every available daily. It probably doesn't help that I can't do one of my dailies due to it requiring pristine distillate, which is annoying as hell to get the recipe for. What I'm trying to say is "I hate you corr."
