mini PCs

Does anyone have any experience with mini PCs? I'm trying to save on space by switching - and figured this would be cheaper then getting a lap top.

I know that I shouldn't expect fantastic results in terms of sound and video - as it's all on-board. However, will the video be good enough to do graphics work in Photoshop? (pro-level - this is how I make a living) I'm concerned that it wont display colour or resolution very well. I do have a high level monitor if that makes a difference in this case. Also, do these things overheat easily? I mean I leave my computer on for weeks at a time quite often.

And before anyone thinks of it, a mac mini isn't an option. I'm not prepared to pay for all new software.

I wouldn't imagine it would be much different from a high powered laptop, you shouldn't have any problems at all with Photoshop.

Photoshop CS2 is all 2D (CS3 appears to do some stuff with the GPU, but Adobe hasn't confirmed it) so there's no reason a cheap mini PC can't do the job just as well as a PC with the latest goodies from Nvidia inside.

The sound will be as good pretty much everyone elses pc since most people rely on mobo audio anyways (same chipset). The 950GMA supports vista and aero glass and could even run WoW at a reasonable pace. You would in no way be getting reduced video quality via resolution or. And no, they don't overheat, however the planet would love you if you remembered to turn your PC off.

How small do you want? A Shuttle XPC is pretty small and large enough for a good video card if you want to game at least.
