Honeymoon in October

Getting married in October (not an exact date yet), and looking for a honeymoon late in the month (Hopefully from 10-16 on). Anyone have suggestions for nice honeymoon locations this time of year? We're considering Ireland, or Hawaii, but are open to suggestions.

A bit about us: A budget of a few grand, somewhat flexible here, but don't want to go over $4k (that's a hard limit, would like to be a bit lower than this). We don't mind walking around a lot to sight-see, and transportation once we get there was a concern of mine (IE renting a vehicle versus public transportation available). Neither one of us have ever flown out of the country before. Our interests are pretty low-key, reading, gaming, movies, TV, etc. I really enjoy museums/galleries.

I'm leaning towards something with beaches, but the gorgeous scenery in Ireland is enticing as well. Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated.

Go with Hawaii, October is not a great month to be in the UK, let alone Ireland. Autumns here are wet and miserable rather than pretty. My advice would be to pick Hawaii, and then go and see Ireland in Summer when it can really show off it's magic and you can go out properly to explore without being completely at the mercy of the weather. (Summer evenings are something special you've never begun to experience if you're both from LA and last for hours, winter evenings last about an hour, are dark and it's raining). Plus all the food festivals will be in summer.1

Plus Hawaii is pretty awesome, you'll remember the sunsets along the beach on a desert island so much better than the wet castle that was shut because the steps were too slippery. It's also a lot easier to enjoy even if you spent a lot of time not going out - you'll be spending a lot more time in Ireland driving and in B&Bs and cafes. Good place to explore, not as great as a background to enjoy something else (especially in Autumn/Winter).

Plus isn't Ireland expensive for you guys? Didn't think the Dollar to Euro exchange was that favourable.
My opinion - Hawaii for Honeymoon and then save up for Ireland next year or the year after.

You don't have to honeymoon in October either you know. You can honeymoon months after your wedding if you choose.
