This movie

this movie

starring Johnny Depp, who does a shockingly good job at voice acting, it tells the tale of a domesticated chameleon who stumbles his way into a weird western town straight out of a Coen Brothers movie. It has an amazing script, the action is well choreographed and the art direction is terrifyingly good. It also has performances from Isla Fisher, Bill Nighy, Ned Beatty and Abigail Breslin. There are also two pseudo cameos that I won't spoil here, needless to say they are wonderful.

Honestly this displaces How to Train Your Dragon as my favorite non-Pixar CG movie, beats out a few of Pixar's own movies and is the best western I've seen in a while. Yes, better than True Grit.

Go see it.

This is the most realistically textured and lit and one of the best looking cg animated movies I've ever seen a trailer of

I hope Depp does a non-quirky role in the future though. Seems like that's all he does these days

they had the actors act out scenes and used the video as reference for gesture and expression
which I think is a wonderful wonderful thing

One of the cameos spoiled below
When Clint Eastwood as the Man with No Name showed up as the Spirit of the West I pretty much shit my pants

    It was just so perfect

even if it was just Timothy Olyphant doing a pretty good Eastwood impression

I would like to pause for a moment, to talk about my penis.
My penis is like a toddler. A toddler—who is a perfectly normal size for his age—on a long road trip to what he thinks is Disney World. My penis is excited because he hasn’t been to Disney World in a long, long time, but remembers a time when he used to go every day. So now the penis toddler is constantly fidgeting, whining “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? How about now? Now? How about... now?”
And Disney World is nowhere in sight.

    it is amazing
    the canyon chase sequence alone
The Spirit of the West was pretty awesome too, even if I did wish they had used a live action Clint Eastwood.

Saw this today and was very happy with the quality of the writing and animation. Lots of rather adult references in the film, as well.

The pure UGLINESS of some of the characters was amazingly done. I'm particularly thinking of Spoons. What a grimy little mouse thing he is.

I was completely uninterested in the trailers

also if it doesn't have a red sun reference it is not a true love letter to westerns

Didn't this movie have it's ending MASSIVELY SPOILERED in the TV spot? I hate when they do that. >:/

    Battle: Los Angeles too.

While I'm on it, Battle: Los Angeles, that gave me the impression of a terrible B movie like Skyline when I saw the ads on buses or whatever. I youtubed it, out of curiosity, y'know, and it looks to be fantastic. It's just getting terrible marketing. :/

No! Actually. I mean, if you really want to play detective and put various clips together on a timeline, you could figure out the ending.

Honestly, the trailers and commercials did a great job of not spoiling the story at all.

I just checked the tv spots on youtube and there's one quick shot from the climax on spot #2 and one in the super bowl trailer, but I don't think either of those are really "spoilers".
since you clicked this spoiler, I guess you want to know; the water gushing up through the clock tower and the girl lizard kissing Rango are both from the last ten minutes of the film.
