Is the difficulty about the same as the first game so far? Or did normal become a little harder.
Just figuring out how to deal with my first playthrough (got the 360 version at lunch today), just don't want it to be too easy.

Giantbomb also didn't get a copy of RDR.
I don't handle distribution of review copies, but not everyone gets a copy. Not sure why, but it happens.

Probably blame EA for that. I doubt it is any reflection on the game. If anything, it's a reflection on Giantbomb (maybe EA doesn't like them? :P)
I'm hearing really mixed opinions about the PC version as the moment. Things along the line that suggest that PC users have once again been kicked in the teeth in the name of simplification of interface and control structure to cater to consoles.
I have to say, i'm getting really fed up with this, but i'll reserve judgement until I find out more/play the PC version.

How did last night end up going at the midnight thing at the mall? I see you didn't freeze. That's at least a good sign.
Did anyone have trouble installing the texture pack on the steam version? I only briefly tried before work, each time I got a prompt telling me the game wasn't installed. Tried verifying the files on steam and played the game for a few minutes to make sure everything was unlocked but still no luck.

Yeah, you really shouldn't listen to people complain, especially about interfaces.
For example, there's actually people who believe that the Dwarf Fortress UI isn't an abomination conjured by Satan himself.

From what I've played so far, Normal is Casual, Hard is somewhere between Hard and Normal, and Nightmare is harder than before. I've been having trouble since Normal is too easy but Hard is too hard. DLC Items made them both too easy though.
What DLC items have you been using? My warrior found the Blood Dragon Armour to be nearly undefeatable and the Staff of Parwhateverer tripled Bethany's damage.
Any Canadians order this from Amazon.ca? It looks like they aren't estimating shipping it until the 11th, which I thought was the non-North America release date.
My order says "Shipping Soon"....whatever that means. Friday isn't soon!

Yes, but if you're stupid enough to wander into the Dwarf Fortress thread...

I hate to talk bad about a game I haven't sat down to actually play, but I couldn't even stand to watch a "Let's Play" of DF. I know there are graphical packs, and whatnot, but it just gave me tired-head thinking about it.
And I for one don't get the hate with the interface. Camera? Yeah, it's limiting on the PC at times. But... nevermind, nothing I can say is going to sway anyone.

I'm doing a Normal - Mage run for my first playthrough. So just the staff. My companions can beg for the scraps we get in between pots and junk. Honestly, if I put more of them on, I'm fairly certain I could handle Hard just fine. Even with my "carebear" nature.
My next run will be as a Archer, and with Ser Isaac's Gear (once I'm able to equip it), anything less than Hard is going to put me to sleep.
Edit: And yes, the staff makes my mage feel like a freaking god on normal. Upgraded Fireball, Pyromancer, and Firestorm pretty much AoE normal mobs in seconds.
I hope this isn't a dumb question, but I went and redeemed my pre-order code from Amazon and got the two items as expected. When I looked at my registered game content, there's several other things listed as well, like "Lothering's Lamet", "Of Things Not Lost" and "The Far Cliffs of Kirkwall". What are those?
Going to pick this up and bring it back to work in a few minutes, then leaving to go home and feverishly play it all night in about four hours and I'm so fucking excited.
Finished Witch Hunt last night at about 1 a.m., can't wait to see how everything affects the sequel. I have a feeling my choices in DAO were fairly non-standard.
Female City Elf Rogue, romanced Leliana.
Anora was made queen because Alistair obviously didn't want the crown and I was worried he'd do a half-assed job of ruling.
Alistair killed Logain.
Turned down Morrigan, as even though I liked her character I didn't feel comfortable just handing her the soul of an Old God like hey, have fun with that! Plus I didn't want Alistair to have to bone her.
Alistair jumped in and killed the Archdemon despite my arguments that I would strike the final blow.
Saved Amaranthine and the Keep held.
Helped the Architect in an attempt to end the Blights but felt bad when Sigrun went off the deep end.

ok fine, well Wired didn't get their review copy till today and they're a real established company, etc. apparently a bunch of sites didn't get copies or didn't get copies till today.
dunno what's up with EA on that one but it is a bit odd
So did anyone get an actual signature edition from best buy? When I preordered with them my receipt said signature edition. So I show up today and they bring out the regular game. I'm like...this is wrong. They dig around some more, nothing. Then they twiddle with the computer for some 15 minutes, and say "good news, the extra content will be emailed to you. So I guess I will see tonight.
Anyone else go through same? Also I was their first preorder to come in today.
The extra content that will be emailed to you is a single item that you get for preordering from Best Buy.
Go back and harass them. You were cheated out of your signature edition.

So just to be clear, I can outfit Hawke with:
helmet
chest armor/robe
gloves/gauntlets
boots
belt
amulet
2 rings
weapons
- so basically just like DA:O
Personally, I'm expecting everyone who ordered the game from one of those sites advertising the Signature Edition after the deadline is going to get screwed.
New Egg let me order it, but I checked in to be sure. Guess what? They told me they couldn't honor it unless they "got more in stock". So I stuck with PS3 preorder from Amazon instead of swapping to PC.

I'm not sure what was so non-console friendly about it in DA:O (console player myself).
Thanks for the info though.
I also can't stand the Eurogamer review. It is unneccessarily catty and rude to fans of older RPG mechanics/cRPG style gameplay.
Dang, it's like you haven't been following the dragon age 2 threads on penny arcade at all. The thought process is widespread amongst many primarily console focused gamers.
Everyone and thier grandma is catty and rude about and to fans classic RPG style gameplay. It's not hip to play RPGs tactically anymore, you need to think more like a spartan and start mashing that X button, and also send us 10$ for some cash grab DLC thanks.
Maybe next year EA can 'streamline' the overhead view out of madden too, because using tactics is too befuddling, and people don't feel immersed enough from the top down perspective. Hey it worked for the RPGs right?
It's sad too, because I know personally, four different PC gamers, who own ME1/2, DA1, KOTOR, and Jade empire on steam, who won't be buying DA2. Complaints ranging from KOTOR-camera syndrome, to lack of a toolset, Hope reaching the broader audience was worth seeing that pattern repeated several thousand times in the steam purchase metrics.
Of course, the thread is hostile to anyone with even a modicum of complaint, and you'll see a list of between 3 - 5 of the exact same avatars shilling very hard and dogpiling everyone mentioning even the most reasonable of concerns, then continually ridiculing out of context comments, meant to offhandedly white knight the 'streamlining', and ridicule anyone who has noticed it, and they are pretty much free to imply everyone who takes issue with the direction the game took is an incestuous perv or mentally handicapped pedant without consequence, which is another great feature of this thread in particular.
Evidently, if you wanted a classic CRPG experience, the game isn't 'for you'
At least the Witcher 2 is pretty compromise free.

Does anyone know if respeccing is a base feature of the game this time around?
My woes with the PC camera are well chronicled at this point, but after playing it on the 360, I've determined that is where the game is most fun for me. I've really enjoyed the demo on the consoles, while I was very frustrated with the demo on PC.
That said, respeccing was a mod in DA:O, and it's a mod I can't imagine living without. There some really dumb skill decisions made on some of the built in characters in DA:O, and not being able to respec them to a more optimized party would drive me batty.
Can anyone give some insight into the import process from DAO? I'm a little worried because I don't technically have an "epilogue" save from Witch Hunt, just an autosave that loads straight to the credits.
