before today the last post I made in a PA dragon age thread was something along the lines of bitching that Awakening cost 40 bucks for only 15 hours of content compared to paying 50 for Origins for over 50 hours of content.

Thankfully I paid 20something for it in a steam sale... and then didn't play it for a year.

    oh dragon age

Heh, I'm still waiting on an Ultimate Edition sale for that reason. I figure it's cheaper to just buy the main game again and get Awakening/DLC with it than to buy any of it seperate. Seems like Awakening never goes on sale for a decent price.

It went on sale twice, both fairly close to release actually. once for 30something (which I decided was still too much at the time) and once for 20something but I haven't seen it on sale again in a looooong time.

I'm more annoyed at how individual DLC never goes on sale. If witch goes on sale from 7 to 5 i'd probably buy it but I've never seen them do a bioware store sale on that stuff.

oh another thing I'm cloudy on after playing the demo.

So I haven't been following DA2 news AT ALL and had no idea Janeway was back. Didn't I assimilate her back in the first game?? when the heck does thsi game actually take place? also is tuvok back?

oh also why is everybody carrying around JRPG sized swords because holy cow. (also flemeth's new look is pretty jawsome but also shockingly different)

edit - Dragkonias is that for reals? cause...

Morrigan states pretty clearly in the first game that even if you off Flemeth she's almost certainly not dead dead.

And as for her appearance being way different...she's a shapeshifter.

see that's a BS argument as morrigan clearly says that being a shapeshifter doesn't allow you take different human forms.

    It's a retcon.
Flemeth didn't look like an old hot morrigan, now she does.
    boners for everyone.

I think Morrigan just says that SHE can't take on other human forms. And/or has no interest in taking other human forms.

    You lot are hilarious.
You can't in one sentence dismiss Morrigan's response to whether or not shapeshifting can be used to shift into someone else's shape but then totally trust her statement regarding her mother being able to do so (which, quite frankly, I don't ever recall her saying).
She's either trustworthy or she isn't, you can't cherrypick her responses based on what you want to believe or interpret into the game.

Don't think I was dismissing and then totally trusting..just trying to recall what she said after not playing the game in quite a bit.

After looking it up, Morrigan talks about having to study each animal to learn to become said animal. She then says she gains nothing by studying a human because she IS human, therefore only possesses one human form.

Video of the shapeshifting conversation: here.

And now I have become one of those people that argues about stupid pointless shit on a video game forum.

    FUUUUUUUUUUUU

no, she says that because she's already human she has nothing to learn from another human and therefore can't take their form. If you want to apply morrigans narcicism towards this and then conclude that she's such an egomaniac learning from others is simply impossible for her then fine but state it so factually.
There's not a shred of evidence anywhere that shapeshifters can take other human forms.

No thoughts on the saved game thing then? What benefit do we get from importing our previous game?

Honestly it doesn't bother me to start a new game but I'm not sure if I would be missing out on some amazing thing.

Nothing import related is tied to your EA account. Sorry. :(

I wouldn't worry about it too much though. As others have said, DA2 does not take place in Ferelden so mention of your DA:O play through will be fairly minor. Less than Mass Effect's impact on Mass Effect 2.

At the start of the game you'll be able to select one of three "default" stories for the Warden as well, so one of them may be similar to your own.

Yeah, I'm waiting for a $15 or less sale personally. Doesn't seem worth paying more when I already own the main game (which is the bulk of that content).

And yeah, it's weird. The 360 BioWare DLC goes on sale every so often. In fact, I picked up both ME1 DLCs for pretty cheap and I believe two of the ME2 packs (I paid full price for Kasumi and kind of regretted it)

It's probably very similar, and there's definitely a limit, but it's likely not going to be as awful due to the fact that you have a storage chest and there's going to be less armor to juggle.

Should probably stress at this juncture that I doubt that inventory management will be anywhere near as much of a problem as it was in DAO, given that the only armour you'll be collecting will be for Hawke, so if it isn't better than what you've already got it's vendor trash.
Also, the crafting system has changed so there're no ingredients to carry around with you anymore.
Throw into all of this the fact that Hawke has a storage chest and everything's coming up roses for the inventory.

I wonder if they'll still require you to put an item in trash before you can destroy it though. That was silly.

    It's doable.

Typically when I do overnight shipping w/ Amazon Prime stuff gets shipped out of Louisville or which every warehouse hub the product is in between 6-7PM. They fly the shit, so it typically gets to KCMO between 4-6AM and is out the shipping facitily door for delivery by 8AM.

Of course sometimes stuff doesn't get to my house till 5PM or after, but it does always get there.

Hopefully. But even at that, my track record with pretty much every shipping company leads me to believe that unless they haven't updated since, oh, last Thursday? Probably not seeing that game any time soon.

Dang, there are still only a very limited number of reviews. They were really tightfisted with the embargo on this one, that's not too encouraging. I was wanting to read up on the technical issues the PS3 version has or doesn't before choosing which system to get it for, it seems like that means I can't get the pre-order bonus this time.

Embargoing reviews is just a think for big game companies these days.

Doesn't really say much for the game positively or negatively.

I guess if they only embargo'd when the reviews were bad, it'd be pretty obvious what to be wary of.

Generally speaking, most of the things we are inconvenienced by in games today like Day One DLC, bad marketing, street dates, DRM, and review embargo have little to nothing to do with the developer or even the game itself.

There is a review embargo in place because EA wants one. Period. Its been their policy lately. There isn't some embargo department that plays games and decides that good games should get early reviews for hype and bad games should get release day reviews to snag sales from suckers.
