I mean jesus. And then the KotOR II like ending where my Warden and Hawke have both now gone missing. And the world war currently raging of course.
Weird question though, Varric says everyone had to leave Hawke eventually after Kirkwall. Except, apparently, Isabella. Which is kinda weird considering I romanced Merrill and was closer to my other party members. Is that just a thing, or did some variable screw up?
I can't really finish processing, full runthrough took about 30 hours total.
I finished just 5 minutes ago.
Some variable probably screwed up, since it mentioned Merrill for me.
As far as Anders goes, I was sure he was up to something, but I have to admit I wasn't expecting that. At least the game let me massacre copious amounts of Templars, so I'm happy about that.
Ok, fuck magically spawning reinforcements. Seriously. I'm about to play the rest of the game on casual cause it's just such a bullshit cheating way to artificially make the game harder. At least make them, I don't know, run through a fucking door. Not LOLSPAWN next to people.
It's a pain in the ass, but I kind of like it for that reason. Forces you to think more about when to use abilities, and not to just leave a ranged companion off in a corner and figure they're safe.
I just got used to entering a battle, steamrolling the first wave and then having subsequent waves totally fuck me. The advantage of dying being that you know exactly where they're coming from, and can prepare. Also, this becomes a smaller issue as you gain more aggro-control abilities.
this, combined with the removal of friendly fire has pretty much removed all tactics imo, the best strategy for every non giant boss monster fight is now to group all your characters extremely close together, hide in a corner, then rain AOE death upon yourselves when the enemies close
Sorry for coming off so nerd-ragey. I can handle challenges in games, but this particular fight was just ridiculous. I'd get surrounded by melee, while archers spawning from 2 separate sides of a giant room just picked at my group til we eventually had to go and deal with them. Even when I knew they'd be there and pre-emptively moved to them, more would spawn behind me. Then on me. Then in front of me.
It's best that I quit fooling myself and just lolcruise through the game.
but it's red and all my boots and gloves are gray or black
god damn it
Gray and black are neutrals, it's okay. They'll go.
it's like bright red
I look like a walking checkerboard
back to the Fallen set I guess
Maybe if you walk around looking ridiculous then people will start making fun of you and then you can kill them for it, which will give you experience, which will level you up, which will let you get more talents.

The one thing that bugged me about the game is I kept missing exactly one piece of all the cool mage armor sets they throw at you during the game.
Not really a spoiler, but I even missed the Champion's chestpiece. Anyone know where the hell that is?
And I did nearly everything. But somehow, every time, one piece completely eluded me.
You have to kill a high dragon in the Bone Pit. The mine gets attacked by dragons once you get to the part of the game where you can get Champion armor pieces. At least it was right after doing that when I realized I had the chestpiece.
16 hours and 4 minutes into the game, I've finally done everything in Act 1 and am ready for the Deep Roads.
I wasn't sure about bringing Bethany along, seems harsh on the mother to have both of her surviving children go on a dangerous expedition. But I rationalized that with the Templar's in the city running amok it might be safer for Bethany to be away for a while.
so man, last night at around hour 4 or 5 I went into Bone Pit for that quest.
let just say it was not what I was expecting so early in the game! WAs awesome though
Pretty sure its a different quest, there's no way you could have done it by hour 4 or 5. Its an endgame thing.
?
I just mean in general. The Act 1 bone pit quest is insane.
it involves rescuing some miners from what turns out is a god damn high dragon
It's only a mature dragon, not a high dragon. Still brutal.
Edit: This thread moves too damn fast.

Spoiler-ish question about Bethany.
So I know that I lose Bethany as a companion in the Deep Roads. What do I have to do to get her to rejoin me in Act 3, which I heard is possible? Does it matter if I leave her to be taken to the Circle, or have her become a Warden?

Its really easy actually. No melee in the game can hit a moving target, so you can just run around in a circle and it'll never hit you, except with its weak abilities.
Edit: The hardest fights are in open areas with tons of archers (and mages, but they're rare), like in the first game. If they all decide to target a mage or rogue they get stun locked into death. Good thing you can usually LOS them around a corner.

It's nice that they let me keep my dog for this and all, but good lord the Arishock does not take any noticeable damage. Ten minutes of whittling him down and kiting with my mage and he busts out a fucking heal potion. Guess I'll save that achievement for another playthrough.

On hard
it's flame breath thing would take off over half of both of my tanks health if it hit and pretty much insta kill squishy mages, i wouldn't exactly call that weak

On Nightmare it never hit me with it. I just kept running out it and it would breath into the air. His other abilities don't hit hard at all.

Bosses in this game are tough assholes, though usually not 'unfair' or 'unbeatable'. Most of the later ones are immune to cross class combos though, which really sucks when you're trying to burn their thousands of hitpoints down.
Oh and,
The High Dragon is the most bullshit fight in the game. Its like the final battle of Origins, only remove your reinforcements and the ballista and give it a homing fireball. Oh and when it flies to the ledge you can't reach, its ridiculously hit or miss whether you can even keep attacking it. I don't even know what happens after that because I always died when it summoned its first swarm of dragonlings.

Kiting feels too much like exploiting broken game mechanics to me and I don't find it any fun. This is the reason I don't play on nightmare since it's pretty much required, of course since hard is for the most part as easy as Origins casual it's starting to get a bit boring as well though :? I'm actually not sure i'm going to be able to finish it because while i'm really enjoying the story the broken difficulties that leave you with "blow everything up instantly or "kite everything forever" as your two options just suck

Don't have any respec potions on hand? I found him pretty easily manageable with Full Primal, Improved Crushing Prison, Winter's Grasp, Cone of Cold and a bit of Entropy.
You just need to burn him down after his first health potion to get through his anti-cheese guard, and then it's puppies and rainbows all the way down.

I like it that way though.
My character's an archer rogue, so another thing I do when its a tough fight is run away and stealth, which causes the mobs to reset. Then I go back and pick them off, repeat until they're all dead.
The only complication is when there are archers.

I checked the Bioware forums; is there a place to report a bug? Using the Black Emporium I swapped my Hawke from a tank to 2H Warrior and Hawke's Second Wind (+100% Stamina) never goes on cooldown. Granted, you run out of attacks before it can be truly devastating, but I'm having to make sure I don't hit the button out of turn so I don't "ezmode" this. Strangely, I had Second Wind as a tank and also on Fenris and this bug doesn't hit either of them.
I was wondering, does the game go into the Fade later on? It would be interesting to see if they improved that. Also, just what is that Black Emporium guy? He seems to have many arms and legs.
Yea I think this game is really meant for a sarcastic hawke. I'm trying to picture playing through another way but having that extra option gets you out of a lot of trouble or makes things easier for you in general.

"Tome of the slumbering elders". I was hoping for an ability book, but it was just a junk item, unless I am missing something. Not even a codex entry
edit:Actually, it sells for around 70 silver. Not a ton, but more than most junk.

Anything I should tinker with after installing but before playing?
