Blood Dragon Armor makes its return? Yay, I guess? ...or not.
I forgot about some of those signature edition items. Probably going to rock sten's sword over the rayzor.
Still think they really went overboard with all this stuff.
Yeah. To be honest, I'm still shocked they didn't go for my Dragon Age 2 crossover idea with Team Fortress 2. I mean, come on! I even provided them a screenshot.
So I started a play thru of Awakenings, just in time to not play DA2 on launch, even though I have it pre-ordered and loaded and Steam lol.
What is the best order to do the quests in? I did the swamp first, and I am thinking about doing the forest next. Also, is it okay if I go into the basement at the keep? I am always afraid of accidentally going into the next act before I am ready to.
So we get stiff once in a while. So we have a little fun. What’s wrong with that? This is a free country, isn’t it? I can take my panda any place I want to. And if I wanna buy it a drink, that’s my business.
To be honest, though, most of the items are obtained quite easily. I didn't have to go out of my way to get any of them. Simply pre-ordering the game, getting it new, signing up for the newsletter, and playing the demo has earned me most everything. I would have done those things regardless, save perhaps for the newsletter.

I went to GameStop for the midnight release. I walked in to a huge gaggle of people. The employee looked at me and said, "Are you here to pick up a preorder?"
And I'm like, "Nope, just thought I'd drop in and see if you guys had the PC version available."
He looks at me, with a look of genuine surprise, "We only have one PC copy, and it's reserved. We don't even get PC games in anymore unless people reserve copies. But we don't have any extra copies left anyways. "
"That's fine, I'll just get it off Steam."

How that didn't make it in, I'll never know.
If I'd known Bioware was this blind, I would've canceled my preorder months ago.
Beat the golems dlc earlier today, first on my rogue on hard, then on my mage on normal. Was definitely easier trash mobs on mage, but the last fight was about the same. I attribute it to the crappy aggro generation of the tank they give you.
Question, I just downloaded a digital copy of the game (Apparently it's supposed to be supported for both Mac and PC), while I had no problem getting my PC version downloaded, I have no idea how to get the Mac version installed. I don't see any support anywhere for it.

It might help if you told us where you bought it digitally. Although, I do know some stores have separate purchase and download options for each version. I'm not sure if that's how it is for all the digital stores. The PC and Mac version come bundled together with the physical edition, however.

I just want to say "Thank You" to the Dragon Age community, for showing me that silly fanboy goosery isn't just exclusive to Final Fantasy. To express so much hatred and negativity toward an upcoming sequel from a company with a universally-praised track record remains one of the most facepalm-inducing things I've read online since the Left 4 Dead 2 "strike".
Of course I'm not referring to anyone in particular here, but from the word-of-mouth regarding canceled pre-orders and so on. Basically, the whole thing was a barrel of laughs. Can't wait for everyone to hate the shit out of Mass Effect 3 (or has it started already?).
This 'release date checker' thing is ridiculous. I bought the damn game at the damn midnight release so I would be able to play the game before I went to bed.
Well, at least I know a bit more about the game. While we were waiting one of the employees put DA II on a PS3 in the store and I got to play around the intro for a bit. Some (Very) minor spoilers
The intro is changed from the demo, Varric and Cassandra are more antagonistic towards each other. After the 'real' story of your fight with the Darkspawn and Cassandra saying something about how she doesn't believe in Flemeth still, Varric's like "Do I have to tell you the story of the Warden?" and she's like "Wait, did Flemmeth send someone with the Champion too?" and totally believes him. Its weird and a bit jarring how quickly she goes from "myth" to "true".

If it's any help I'm still super excited for the game and will be playing the everloving shit out of it once I'm off work on Wednesday
I will probably not be seen again for at least 3 days after I start.

Just finished another playthrough of Awakenings, this time with my mage character. So I'm ready for import into DA2 tomorrow.
The ending of that game is a bit bugged. The Codex and Questlog say one thing and the Epilogue text just before the credits says another.
Basically I saved Amaranthine instead of returning to Vigil's Keep during the ending sequence. I had fully upgraded everything at the Vigil, so I knew it would hold. However after I saved the city, the Codex said that everyone I left at the Vigil was killed and the keep was overrun. The Quest Log said the same thing. However in the epilogue text it said the Vigil held out and broke the sieging army of Darkspawn and all the companions I left to defend it survived except Sigrun.
Guess I'll just have to wait and see what the import says, to know which source is correct.

Played the demo, and I really want the game now. But I have 2 questions first.
1) The transitions between the cutscenes and free movement seem a bit jarring, with the sudden music ques then abrupt stops and what not. It just feels a little unpolished, I guess. Has there been any indication that this has been remedied in the final game?
2) The archery seemed a bit boring, though the demo is obviously early on, so I get that. Varric, however, was all sorts of badass. Would it be possible to get a player character with a weapon like that?

1. Yes, they said they fixed that.
2. You can get crossbows, not that specific crossbow however.

Hmm...the local GS is doing midnight. Walk down or not...choices.
I just got back from one, kind of. I showed up at 12:05 since when I called earlier the girl told me I could show up until 12:30, and I have had a long day and was tired as hell and the cops were out in force so I couldn't go driving 80 to get there.
They refused to sell me the game despite everyone being there at the store because "we closed the register when the line closed."
My business with them is done for good.

Wow, this was exactly what I was looking for. Looks like I have pretty much all of the DLC items with the exception of the "buy specific stuff" exclusives (Ser Isaac's Armor, Amulet of Ashes, The Irons, and The Ring of Whispers - the last one being the only one that is kind of crap since it makes more money drop.. but I'm not buying $400 sword replicas for a digital ring :P)

Part of me is as frustrated as you, yet another part is glad of this... mishap, since it means I won't find myself pulling an all-nighter when I have work tommorow. Instead, I'm just dling the high-res pack and then going off to bed.

Oh Amazon.ca... you screw me again! I go on to see if I can cancel the pre-order and then buy it on STEAM... and it is now shipping soon, but still with a ship date of March 11 (despite the Canadian release date being the 8th), and an expected arrival of March 17-22, and I can no longer cancel it. Ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff!
Oh, and the 22nd is around when I have some major papers due, so I wouldn't even be able to play it. ><
It looks like the 20% discount on amazon isn't only for their digital download, the DVD version is marked down too. Those of you who pre-ordered that might want to badger amazon about their pre-order guarantee if you haven't already heard from them.
Where are you seeing this? I only see it on the digital version. Either way, I have a feeling Signature Edition screws with any price guarentees since it's technically a different product

Wait, never mind it was just my browser screwing up the refresh. (Had the digital price "stick" to the page when I clicked on the PC DVD button.)
So I just finished playing through Witch Hunt in the nick of time to import my fiiiiiiiinally finished save into DA2. I bought the Steam Ultimate Edition and I assumed Witch Hunt would be version 1.1 and would make an epilogue save, but it didn't. Any one have any answers on this?

All right, people. It is not a gerbil. It is not a hamster. It is not a guinea pig. It is a death rabbit. Death. Rabbit. Say it with me, now.

Also I'd like to confirm that to get the penny arcade belt you sign up for the same newsletter that you sign up for the staff of parthalan?

I believe so. You can also go to the BioWare social website afterward and see if it shows up in your list of game promotions.
Apparently the check doesn't unlock until 3 AM. What the hell.
Puts the EA unlock at the same time as the Steam one, too, haha.
The game launches officially at 12am PST. So yeah, EST types gotta wait until 3am.
I did, and I'm looking at it now but it's only showing the Staff of Parthalan.

So on my main playthrough, I went with the
option, which I assumed would carry over to the Witch Hunt DLC.
Except when I reached the end, it turned out I didn't import the right save into that DLC, which instead left me with the
option. This had no apparent effect in Awakening, which used the correct save, but what does this mean for DA2? I would imagine the
would get some sort of mention, so which of the saves is DA2 going to read here?
