Nice -- which reminds me... additional cosmetic outfit slots (and LI slots) are still 20% off for the next couple of days, I think. I know it's on the splash screen, but if you're like me it's easy to ignore those and miss out on some of the sales...
Fuck you Americans and your mylotro. :P We still don't have it on the European servers.
--
More advice: virtues are going up to 12 with RoI, so if you're bored now? Start cracking on those deeds and you don't have to bother grinding once all the RoI goodness comes live.

12? Wow! Even Spinal Tap's amps only go up to 11...
And regarding mylotro... if it makes you feel any better, it often doesn't work right, anyway. For example, my cappy hit 52 about a week ago, but it still shows him as 51, with outdated stats, and his Character Log shows no activity since 7/17 even though he's been at least turning in tasks nearly every day up through the weekend. Better than nothing? That depends on whether you prefer wrong information over no information.
Also, either the lottery widget is broken, or the lotteries have been discontinued -- and just when they had started giving out some useful goodies (such as class quest items).

the reasons they don't have Mylotro and the reason the lotteries are off are one and the same. They're still dealing with merger issues and have discontinued the Lotteries until everything is working for everyone.

Son of a bitch, why are all the good deluxe houses sold out? I know the reason, that they don't purge properties, but dammit all. I want to buy 4 Wending Way or 1 Twinfall Path!
hey I brought this game but didn't buy mines of moria. The new expansion, if I buy that, includes mines of moria and mirkwood right? Which should keep how much I need to spend while playing free 2 play at a minimum?
Only if you buy the legendary edition do you get Moria and Mirkwood, plus some others. Details here: http://isengard.lotro.com/purchase.php ...but even if you bought a boxed version of Shadows of Angmar, that only gives you one free month and a premium membership, meaning once that free month runs out you will need to buy some of the level 20-40 quest packs because they will be locked. Such as the Lone Lands, North Downs, Evendim, Forochel.
Lonelands is currently free to play. I believe it was included in the F2P content quite a while ago.

You would be correct.
Srsly though, Legendary Edition is so worth it for the cosmetic stuff (you get 3 completely unique horses and outfits) and the free 1000TP alone. Horses usually go for ~$20 in the store, and a full outfit can run you around $5-$10.
the 25% trinket looks nice. Id then just need to pick up the 2 locked classes, remove the currency cap, and maybe buy some bag slots and id be sorted all the way to the cap?

There's also the virtue caps. You'd want to get the virtue slots. You're probably best off buying the legendary pack and subscribing for one month. You can unlock the currency cap, the bag slots, the virtue slots and fast travel plus if you get to 20(an easy feat) you can get the riding skill for free. It's a lot cheaper to subscribe to once month then it is to buy all that separately for each character. It will unlock that stuff for every character you log in during the time you are VIP.

Looks like the Misty Mountain quest pack is gonna be 50% off this weekend. Makes perfect sense, I just purchased it so its right that it should go on sale now.
I don't really understand why MM is winning. Other than the initial quests around Gloin's camp, that whole place is a PITA. When they wanted me to kill bears that were wandering around between the elite giants, I said, 'Screw you guys, I'm going to Forochel.' I never came back to MM. I suppose some people want it for the Helegrod raid, but I really don't care much about raids.
I've been trying to get into playing Pheny again but I think it has to wait until RoI launches.
I got on last night and remembered why I stopped playing him. His red line simply lacks the punch that the other red lines do. But that is getting a fix so I won't complain about it too much. It's getting so much of a fix that running red line in a group will be feasible.
Also, I have enough mats for 1 maybe 2 more sets of the Greenwood gear. This includes crit mats. Let me know if you have a 65, or almost 65 that needs jewelry.

So in anticipation of SWTOR, being a MMO virgin, I'm trying out a bunch of free MMOs. AOC didn't do anything for me, Aion is pretty but the lore was not interesting. So now I'm going to give LOTRO a try, if I sign up for the free game, and decide I want to continue, and sign up for say VIP for a month, would that unlock my character limitations permanently even if I let it lapse and go back to F2P?

It's a really good deal to sub for one month. You'll permanently unlock some character/inventory/stat limitations that you would otherwise have to pay more than $10 for. Entaru gave a pretty good rundown of it higher up on the page. You won't get to keep the region quest packs, though. (Do Post-F2P VIPs get to keep Swift Travel when they drop down to F2P or was that just a gift to Pre-F2P VIPs?)
Virtue Question: the current cap is 10, right? I notice that I have one virtue sitting at 9 and two really easy quest Completion deeds I can do to raise it. If I complete both before Isengard comes out, will my virtue suddenly jump up to 11? Or will that extra potential virtue point be lost and wasted?

The virtue should just bump up to 11. When you check the levels of virtues it tracks it over the current limit 10. It'll show both numbers, the current limit and what it's capped at.
I can't tell you for sure, but I have to imagine that if you have 12 points unlocked via deeds, you would have 12 points when RoI hit. I'm pretty sure they must have anticipated this problem, and I can't imagine that it would be extremely difficult. Many people do deeds just for the TP, and many MMO players are by nature slightly obsessive. I would think there would be a large group of people upset if they didn't. The game does keep track of completed deeds, so it shouldn't be too hard for the game to re-apply all the virtues once you load up the new client.
This is purely speculation though. If you're that worried about it, I would say just hold off until you get confirmation either way.
I am getting really tired of seeing lemon slices turbine point logos everywhere I look and ads on the initial loading screen, but please don't make me pay for lotro again. :P

Never, never say these words in reference to Turbine.
Is this where I lament the lack of an option to turn the Fog of War back on?
Only if I can lament not being able to turn back time and make F2P a thing that never happened.
Fog of war?
I don't know what the non-RTS term for it is, but I mean the recent update that made it so all maps are filled in and complete from the start. I liked having them blank because it was easier to keep track of where I had been and 50% of my LoTRO enjoyment comes from exploration.
I prefer MMO maps to be filled in as you go also. It makes stuff like the old forest trivial, and you don't get the surprise of coming across a new landmark when exploring.
I almost wonder if it's another thing to try to shuttle the player along as fast as possible. Which a silly thing to consciously do from the player perspective because LoTRO feels like it's more about the journey than the endgame.
I'm probably biased on that since I'm not a huge fan of difficult instances and raids. Me talking about the "journey" is also a bit silly because I've been playing one single character since October 2008 and I've still never hit an existing level cap or reached the end of the content. *slow*
Podcasts are my secret weapon against deed grinding.
I usually do something like that, turn on a Spotify playlist or Pandora or something and just get to work.. but this time I was out with Z and figured having someone there with me would help ease it. in the end we decided never to do that again.
Sadly my virtues are shit on both my characters and that's what I really should be working on before RoI release.

At least most grinding deeds have places where you can grind them without having to wait for respawns. Just pop that 50 destiny points out of combat regen buff and hop around from mob to mob until you get bored. Then just alt-tab and do something else for a while or whatever.
So, I finally ground out the 1500 TP to open Moria on my free account and spent a good chunk of the weekend going through it for, like, the ninth time now. The lack of rested XP on free accounts is a huge hindrance to leveling. I went in at 50 and I've already done just about every single quest in the Great Delving, Durin's Way, Silvertine Lodes, Waterworks, 21st Hall, about 3/4 of Redhorn Lodes and maybe 1/3 of Flaming Deeps, and I'm a few bubbles shy of 56. And in that time I've completed about 200 TP worth of deeds without even trying.
And this time, like every time, all I can say is: Fuck Balin's Camp.
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKERS
