Yeah, it's a long-running complaint that the housing in LOTRO not only completely sucks ass, but is also completely broken. I don't know why they ever initially thought it was acceptable to have the housing system be nothing more than a big game of pin the tail on the donkey.

At least there is a housing system. We could have no houses, or no cosmetic slots, and all the end game gear is the tier sets recolored and about 4 weapon models...
I may be slightly bitter about all the time I spent in wow.

Anyway, is there a mod that turns all the minstrel music attack sound effects into metal guitar riffs? Because if there is I might not ever play anything else.

Man, I'd like that, but it seems we can't mess around with the game like that. Otherwise I would have switched of warden screams years ago.

btw, bards in Eden Eternal do only make metal riffs, it's funny.

There is a new Cappy dev diary up.

They switched outgoing healing to Might. Why do they have to make me choose between my two characters?

Edit: also "A large change has been made to the Legendary Trait “Defy Corruption”:

This Legendary Trait is now “Fellowship-brother”: Your Brother skills (“Inspire”, “Strength of Will”, and “To Arms”) now affect your entire fellowship with lesser versions of those effects.

What do you mean by having to make you choose?

It seems like moving outgoing healing to might means that captains become easier to get gear for as it puts DPS and healing under the same general stat, just like it has always been the case for minstrels.

I don't have to choose between healing and DPS anymore? Hooray!

Edit: At least not on the Stat/Equipment level.

The changes for both of them are so good it's going to be hard for me to choose which one to level first.

    That's what I meant. It's a good thing. Absolutely a good thing.

    “In Defence of Middle-earth”:

Is now a toggle (with no cost).
Continues advancing in magnitude after level 50.

This could have been the only thing they changed and it would have made me happy. :P

    Ah, that's what I guessed, but I wasn't sure.

They've also put the burglar dev diary online here http://www.lotro.com/gameinfo/devdiaries/1371-rise-of-isengard-burglar-developer-diary

All in all: a minimum amount of changes, with one nerf that is pretty much made irrelevant by an improved version of the skill that's being nerfed we'll get at a higher level.

  • SeidkonaSeidkona Had an upgrade Registered User regular
between this and the changes to Heavy armor they talked about in the itemization diary. . . Pheny might be back to being who I play more often.

I'm foreseeing LtC being an amazing trait line for a lot for grouping. So imagine a medium hot/pot on inspire, +25% damage and -attack time all shared by the captain at 100% and shared by the group at the old LoM level with fellowship brother. And if shit goes south you break Sword-brother and put Song-Brother on the healer for a bit or Shield-Brother on the Tank.

With might being set for damage and healing we'll be able to drop decent heal numbers in this set up as well.

    It will be glorious.

During my burg's temporary reprieve from task mule status(*), I unlocked a couple of legendary skills that extend the crit chain, and... even without any further improvements (although extending Riddle beyond humanoid mobs will be sweet) it's no longer so clear that burglar is my least favorite class. I mean, he's still not up there with cappy/LM/warden/guard, but once Isengard hits, I expect that my second tier will probably start with minstrel and then very little difference (and possible reordering) among the last four.

( * ) For some reason, I had thought 300 tasks was the final step in that deed chain. As soon as my burg hit 300, I was promptly greeted with a new task to get to 400, and a quick search told me that the final step is actually 500  My only other guy over 300 (barely) now is my cappy, who is so close to 53 that he might hit 54 before doing 200 more tasks even if he does nothing else, so unless the task system gets extended beyond level 53, the little fella (burg) is my only guy with a realistic shot at that task.

LOTRO (Landroval): Clontarf (62 Batman), Theorwald (60 LM), Glornt (56 guardian), Onzlo (58 minstrel), Porthian (54 warden), Vilric (54 burglar), Feyerborn (54 hunter), Rudkin (54 champ), Limnon (53 RK)

I don't know about godhood but I am definitely back to playing Phen for a while.

I went in and spent some good time working on Phen to find out what was broken with him and why he was crumpling like a piece of paper where Ent could take on whole groups and live. How was this possible? It turn out it was a case of inexperienced player syndrome.

Since Phen was my first to level 65 I still had a lot to learn. Rearranging my virtues and making some jewellery changes he's now quite viable to solo. Mainly adding in some virtues with +melee defense and adding some might to my gear. This allows me to rip through mobs with the Archer out and still not take a ton of damage.

Yeah I should be on around 9-11 CSTish, and probably a lot on the weekend. Gots to get my warden geared up.

I'll ping the PA chat channel when I'm on.

Also, I totally "solo'd" fellowship level Barrows Skirm for about 15 mins last night. And by solo'd I mean I ran around in circles for 15 minutes. Was only stopped when one of those LTs that slows you showed up.

Yeah, though the lt spawn seems a bit random, so I imagine there can be some lucky runs. With a few people on though, I imagine it can be fairly lucrative for skirm marks (though it'll be mind numbingly boring for the warden I think)

Join a raid or start one. Just go "warden LF LM and randoms for Barrow Downs x/3/6/12" in glff. You want the LM for stun protection, everyone else will just be there to kill Lts with slows asap.

hah, that reminds me of the time I took my dk into zul gurub just pre cata. I could solo all the bosses in the raid (I was level 80, and the raid was level 50 IIRC), but the tiger boss has three dudes which all rez and heal each other. I fought them for literally over half an hour, but didn't have the dps to coordinate them all dying within two minutes. Eventually my hands got sweaty, and I realized it was hopeless, so I had to let them wail on me for like 2 minutes without doing anything just to die. The half an hour thing is exceptional because I could take any of the bosses down in like 2 or 3 minutes from full health.

I hate to bring up WoW shit into this thread, but I can totally understand why somebody would want to push the envelope to the extreme with a durable class like the Warden. At some point it becomes about resource managment, dps vs power vs the ability to heal yourself.

That must be where y'all were trying to drag my lvl 50 mini... I've got two words: CRUNCHY Cheetos (and yes, I really did have some on hand when Z complained about the hyper-nastiness of the baked version, and they were good -- mine were good, that is, not those foul "health food" baked impostors).

The only leveling I did over the weekend was to catch warden up to cappy and LM. I nearly dinged my minnie, but spent a lot of time getting all my prospectors to t6, getting farming close to t6 and cook up to t6 (and finally starting on cook's guild rep -- one full round of guild recipes brought me from zero to acquaintance). Task deed management has become a two-prong attack: all items that go up to level 52/53 go to cappy (who will soon be past 52 anyway), and all that are too low for cappy go to burg. I'll stick with tasks for the big guy until it's clear he won't be able to finish 500 before hitting 54, and by sending all other task items to burg and doing nothing but tasks with him, I'm pretty sure he can hit the 500 mark. I also need to get cappy's farming up to t6 so that my mini can start cooking t6 items, and It's past time for my guard to make some more advanced crafting tools for my troops (including himself).

I have mixed feelings about sending my burg back to task mule status, because as I said earlier, those extensions to the crit attack chain made a huge difference for my enjoyment of that class, possibly moving him ahead of hunter, champ and RK.

I'm pretty sure mine is a lightning-attuned exploding stone of death-dealing explosiveness. I think you got boned.

Also, my cappy hit 53 turning in tasks today. Sitting at 321 tasks now, I have 232,310 xp till 54, and those last two tasks I turned in (after dinging) gave 1541 each, meaning that if I do nothing but tasks and each one gives this much, I'll hit 54 with the 151st one I turn in, leaving me at 472 and out of tasks. Even if I get to that last one before hitting 54 and pick up all available tasks, there are only 4 task items at 53, so the best I could do under the current setup is 475. So, either they add tasks past 53, or cappy is SOL on the final task deed, making my captain a sad panda. On the other hand, he can be freed from "task mule" status, but it still kind of ticks me off that none of my Big Three will get that deed.

afaik: the stone of RK has almost exclusively support legacies. While your sack has the DPS legacies. It's the same for every other class as well.

    --

So far Rise of Isengard looks like a pile of shit, there won't be any new 3/6/12 man instances, only one 24 player raid lair. And none of the old instances will get scaled up as well. So basically your options after reaching the new level cap are: hoping for PuG of 24 that won't suck or grind skirmishes ad infinitum. Sapience did say there will be new group content to play with sometime around or before the holiday season.

With The Old Republic coming out this soon (and certainly before the 2011 holidays) most people who enjoy playing together with other people are very cynical about spending another penny in Turbine's cash shop.

Every instance that previously scaled will go up to 75. It's only the once that didn't scale before that are not being given new scaling options.

I don't know the class changes and changes to the stat system gives us a lot to play with and I am still excited for it. I can only hope some of the kin returns for group content. I miss the days of running stuff and Z and I can't be a 3-man.
