62 on my hunter, got out of Moria a bit late because I was going to try and do all the quests...but fuck that.
Also, once you get out of Moria into Lothlorien...what a frickin relief! Sunny skies and trees! Fuck you Foundation of Stone!
Also: fuck you going into the three orc camps three different times!
Also, also...I am digging this game again. I wish I could take on more than 2 baddies without shitting my pants worrying about the result. I wanna be all like Rain of Arrows on 50 goblins and watch ugly pig face pixels clutch at pointy sticks stuck in their faces!
The expansion is very exciting so far. I'm already more of an awesome hero than in the whole of RoI . And the epic music makes a huge difference in the feel of certain areas. A simple walk from town to town suddenly feels engaging again.

I have gotten back into LOTRO in a big way because of this expansion.
I am mildly annoyed at all the rubberbanding that happens during horsey combat, but its still pretty early in the life of the expansion, so I suspect they will iron the bugs out soon enough.

I haven't realized it but one of the reasons I can't stand to play this game is I can't get passed some of the awful loading times this game has on this ol'' laptop.
I'm picking up a new rig soon and that part should change at least.
Mostly just huntin' monsters.

Even high end machines struggle with the way they handle textures in this game.
Get an SSD. Run LOTRO from SSD.
Magic.
Even my 2011 Macbook Air plays LOTRO sufficiently well, and most of that has to do with the SSD.

My ancient machine takes like 5 mins to load my character sometimes. Worse part is that sometimes you load without a kin and chatrooms. Even more worsererer the session plays have these load times (and chat problems).
Rubber banding is indeed awful. I hope it's just the high population in the zones due to the new content.

Sometimes for some reason it'll get stuck for me on the loading screen and take an even longer time. It's rare and I'm not sure why it's happening but there's also a weird lag after I log in. So I usually wait to get to character select about 2 or so munites and then wait another 5-8 to get into my character. It's pretty bad.
I've loaded in out of the kin and chat a few times and I've also loaded into a world that's only landscape where all other things like NPC's and other people were gone. It's much worse after Rohan than before it.
Mostly just huntin' monsters.

I was trying to do the Lothlorien battle area thing, where you fight a ton of orcs and gobbos during night missions. Problem is the game seems to have locked the gamma settings in that situation to keep it nice and dark, and I think my monitor is set up darker than it should be. I can basically never seen anything. It was certainly thematic to be running around with no real idea where anything was or what the ground looked like.

I cannot get over how amazingly epic the storyline is for Rohan. From the villages you are defending, to the decisions you are making (I don't care if they amount to nothing, I am making choices in a story in an MMO!) and the love story...
This has been a fun ride thus far, and I am pretty sure there is a lot more to come.
I am going to be sad when I finish this book, especially since I have no characters anywhere near high enough level to get in on it again any time soon.

So is it just that nobody here talks about LOTRO anymore, or does nobody here play it any more?
I know I am not on the same server (and it would be very expensive for me to move elsewhere what with all my expanded storage and wardrobe filled with stuff I can't take with me), but I do like talking about it.
Where do you folks go to talk about the game?

I started playing again this past week. I'm just questing my way up to the Hytbold? town grind. I see one or two people on from time to time on Landy.
I'm still digging mounted combat, but as I think about it, you don't really get that many skills. As a champ I don't care since all I want is dps, but I think I'm a bit worried how my alt classes will play.
Also, I understand the reasoning for it, but having so much mount outfitting locked behind the Store is kind of balls. I wish I could customize my original legendary weapon stuff like how mounted combat, their LIs, traits, and cosmetics are all set up though.
i was playing a bit the last week or so as well, but just started a new job so a lack of lotro

I've been playing pretty regularly these last couple days, and I intend to continue to do so. Just as I was thinking I was done for good, it sucked me back in out of nowhere. >.>
I actually really like the expansion so far. Something about managing a horse's stats and attire is enthralling to me.

I am really taking to this expansion in a way that hasn't happened since Moria - which is both a good and a bad thing because I am already at the Eaves of Fangorn, I'm halfway through level 83, and as I understand it there is very little new endgame content at the moment - just level-ups of the old stuff, and we are all going to be waiting for 8.1 and farming marks and such in the meantime.
Not that it is altogether bad - I have a LOT of work to do on the gear once I hit level 85, not the least of which is making a bridle that doesn't suck. And farming all of those precious runes and settings up to level 9 and beyond.

I'm kind of jealous. I want to try out some of the horsey stuff, since everyone says it's the new hotness, but I'm in Lothlorien right now. Getting out of Moria was great, but I'm having trouble figuring out where I should be going next. I seem to have only a few quests that have obnoxiously far apart fedex stages.

Epic books and getting enough rep to enter Loth. After that: do a few quests in Loth and then move to Mirkwood.
Yeah, I am finishing up Lothlorien but my main focus is finishing up the Epic quests. I have Volume I Book 6, Volume II Book 7 and Volume II Book 9 to complete. I rushed around with Kendrawen the last time and now I want to be a completionist with Kahpeekhat. So, I am not advancing anywhere until I have caught up.

I don't know if we'll ever be able to get the whole Barrovian Symphony Orchestra playing as one again, but I think there may yet be hope for the Barrovian Symphony Ensemble. If we all pester @operative21 and @Kass persistently enough, we may even get them to come back. :P Maybe even...@Vray >.>

End game right now is a solo rep grind. You can do it in groups, but it's not required. Don't believe there's really any raid or new fellowship stuff. Once you hit 84 you get a letter, there's a town to be rebuilt each quarter of the city has rep for each of the 4 new zones. From what I've read it's a minimum of 44 days to max it all out. As you rebuild you get access to rep items and new item sets.

I am curious as to how I am meant to reach Kindred with any of these new factions. I've done every single quest in the Wold and I didn't even reach ally with men of the wold.

I quit playing because the only class I had was warden and I got so tired of memorizing and stringing together all those combos all the time.

Are there any significantly general quality of life improvements made in the last year?
Last year? O_O
Barter wallet+QoL cash shop item to place a lot more items in it than otherwise stands out for me. You can place all rep items, festival coins and gear tokens in it with no set limits. There's loot buffs you get by joining instances through the instance finder tool (which has not replaced LFG'ing in GLFF, by the way). You can also buy multiple locations for your Map Home, which is a huge improvement for non-hunter/warden classes).
*E: forgot the best part: automatic looting that's stored in a separate window and saves everything you pick up for 60 minutes before having to move it to your actual inventory.
Hey, I heard my name mentioned somewhere here. I haven't logged into lotro in a long while (what little gaming time I have these days I've been spending in gw2), but I do have a lifetime sub. I definitely plan on coming back (if for nothing else than to play in the band again), the problem I have is I was so unimpressed by the Isengard expansion that I'm really not all that excited to try out/purchase the Rohan one.

It's a huge departure from RoI, the epic story is firmly back to chasing after the fellowship and the game is a lot more focused on delivering narrative to you in bite-sized chunks.
There's also a new soundtrack that's actually composed for and played by an orchestra, which makes more of a difference than I thought possible.
It's still the same game and a lot of stories are cheesy, but I'm far more impressed than I was with RoI.

Yeah, ROI was shit compared to this one. The mounted combat is awesome, the world is prettier, all the things that Aldo mentioned...the quality of life improvements, the new music...

That end town Hytbold grind is the way to get more rep. There's a daily quest there to do 5 quests at any of the four factions to get tokens to rebuild that town. And those quests give rep, but since you can only do 5 a day total, it takes awhile to get up to kindred.
Here's hoping that they're pumped and ready for the Hobbit movie to get them a bunch of new players, resulting in a lot of quality of life improvements and cool touches to the game for us.
