Well, if Hjartard says the new expansion is good, I might believe him (despite him being a fat hobbit, and that one, unfortunate "incident". I'll about re-downloading the game and getting caught up. I probably have enough turbine points to buy the expansion (do they offer that? I know they did for others...).
Are there any significantly general quality of life improvements made in the last year?
Last year? O_O
Barter wallet+QoL cash shop item to place a lot more items in it than otherwise stands out for me. You can place all rep items, festival coins and gear tokens in it with no set limits. There's loot buffs you get by joining instances through the instance finder tool (which has not replaced LFG'ing in GLFF, by the way). You can also buy multiple locations for your Map Home, which is a huge improvement for non-hunter/warden classes).
*E: forgot the best part: automatic looting that's stored in a separate window and saves everything you pick up for 60 minutes before having to move it to your actual inventory.
Dang, I'm sure there's a lot I would still groan about, but that sounds good. Does the auto looting mean you don't even click on the corpse at all?

It does. But apparently it only works in the new zones.
I imagine they hope/plan to. You have to imagine that they have a very tiny design crew this late into the game's life, and I imagine every moment of their time is supposed to be dedicated to content that can be sold, rather than repair of old content. The number of profit from new users has to be less than the amount they get from old users who buy new expansions, etc.
Awwww, maaaan. The 30% discount doesn't work anymore. I was going to buy everything Saturday but they were taking their time getting me my subscription points. Go to buy it all today and nothing. Oh well, they saved me from myself I guess.
The word is that after 8.1 there will be talk and movement on the instance cluster. I might save up my free points to insure I can pick that up and buy the 6th bag later.
Mostly just huntin' monsters.

Well goddamnit, thats no good. My highest character is something like lvl 20, and I'm looking for things that streamline leveling.
I think there's a new auto loot checkbox somewhere as well (though this one I think just loots into your bag automatically). The new system puts it into a queued storage that's separate from you bag
My daughter and I played this weekend. She asked me why I have 1 more bag than she does.
Don't ask me no questions, I won't tell you no lies.
Man, this is parenting done the right way. 8-)

So I hit my level cap, and realized that I had not been skirmishing in ages - I was PUNKED my first attempt at 85 - took me 4-5 hours of grinding marks to get back to where I could do a proper level-matched skirm.
And I plan on doing a LOT of skirmishes - eventually I will be able to get a 2nd age 85 without sacrifing my firstborn son, and when that day comes, I want to be able to make it good.

That's one thing I hadn't really considered since coming back...how many skirm marks it's going to take to get my skirm soldier from 75 to 85. >.>
There've been 4 people or so on pretty consistently lately. I'm somewhat busy dog training, but I'm in the middle of plowing my way through Mirkwood right now.
Hey guys on Landroval- could I get an invite into the fellowship please?
Wait, better question!
Is there even still a fellowship?
Character names are, in order of how often I play them: Gorvald, Renorn, Meridarch, Vindarel
THANKS DUDES (my main guy, Gorvald, is a dwarf guardian and is just now level 10.)
Rumors of our death have been greatly exaggerated.
It'd be better to say something in the penny arcade channel to see if an officer is on. Me and Hjar (and others) have been on pretty consistently lately. For me, just wait until like past 8-9 CST.
I am getting pretty into this game. I like my dorf guardian a lot, and would probably like my lore-master more if I was more okay with their explanations for how dudes can do magic
but my dwarf guardian is pretty awesome, and is going to be an awesome metalsmith one day
On a related note- this game seems like it is very much about filling bars

It's not magic. It's mastery of wisdom and nature. LM's =\= wizards. The Lore-master is a seeker of knowledge and a guardian of wisdom. He wields ancient secrets and lore to confound his foes and aid his friends, protecting them against the dark powers of the Enemy. :rotate:

But I just threw a fireball at this goblin
I think you mean "burning embers" *adjust pointy hat*
I discovered the most wonderous (possibly worst) cosmetic ever. If you are a dworfman, you can buy a cosmetic from the Store to be completely bare chested.

As a hunter, I feel confident in saying that my character does nothing lore-breaking in the slightest and is also super badass.
Edit: Really, I don't have a problem with any of the character classes not entirely "fitting" into the Tolkien universe. Some fit very well, others not so much. Either way, I don't have much nerdrage over it anymore. Runekeepers are the real lore-shatterers, but I like them just fine.

I'm alright with that, but is that true?

I just hit 65 and I need to start getting my traits and virtues and thangs worked out.
