My dad corrupted files on his hard drive and wants me to get important pictures off the hard drive. I installed his laptop hard drive as a slave on my machine and I can browse his files. The problem is when I try to transfer I don't get anywhere because a lot of the pictures are corrupted. Are there any tricks to getting past this? Perhaps some program I can use?

I've recovered a broken stripe set with TestDisk. So, that's my default recommendation if your partition is actually fucked up.

My second? I guess that would be PhotoRec, made by the same people for exactly this problem.

You could try with using Recuva.
