So my girlfriend and I sometimes have very different political views. It's something we recognized before we started dating and are usually civil about in person (she has occasionally forgotten this and gone on a random rant in person when we're alone, but she also has given me permission to not listen so it balances out) but she has recently actually started using her facebook account to post links and given her outspoken political beliefs often posts political links that are borderline if not outright insulting at times. I have no issue with her doing this since most of her online contacts sit far to one side of the political pendulum, but I would prefer to not have this stuff in my news feed when I do my half-asleep, morning web site check ritual.
Now I know how to totally block a person's posts from my news feed, but I don't want to do that since there are things she posts that I do enjoy (e.g., cat videos). Is there a way I can block the stuff that angries up my blood while still keeping the kitties?
She could customize her post to show to everyone but you if necessary, but I don't think there's a way to hide just a specific type of link. (Look at the lock right next to the word "Share" when posting a link, she can customize it to have everyone in her friends list except you). But that is dependent on whether or not she wants you to look at the link.

It would be tricky logic for Facebook to "know" whether a link was political. ;-)
EDIT: Doesn't really solve the problem, but it might help.
