I never did get if that earth pig is a reference to something else, or just a completely in-game joke.
There was a character in Journey to the Center of the Earth named Arne Saknussemm, an icelandic explorer that originally discovered a path to the center of the Earth.
The whole earth pig thing, though, I think that's hookah-induced.

The first thing that springs to mind is Cerebus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerebus), at least from physical resemblance. Though the only thing I can see that Arne has in common with the comic is the giant walls of text.
It was the decision of this Council to send emissaries to the Leopardmen to determine their grievances. The peace mission was ambushed at night by creatures or beings unknown.
That sounds like Simbani treachery! That's enough evidence for war for me, anybody else?
Objection, eyewitness accounts are totally unreliable. I'll need to "question" this "survivor" myself later. These Leopardmen sound like the kind of guys a mage would love to have an ale with.
A Warrior of Tarna, Reeshaka Bar Kreesha, was discovered missing from the bodies of the emissaries. Signs and scent indicate some sort of struggle, and then all trace of Reeshaka was lost.
I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation for all of this.
Reeshaka Dar Kreesha is presumed to be dead or else a prisoner of the Leopardmen. It is our duty to seek revenge upon the Leopardmen for those who are lost!
Yes, revenge upon the Simbani! Wait, Leopardmen?
Exactly, they probably had that ambush coming to them, am I right?
The Warriors of Tarna desire revenge, and the right to gain honor through battle!
The Wizard of Shapeir desires death, and the right to inflict death through battle! With the haters of magic, of course.
My magic indicates that there are signs of Demonic activity. If Demons are involved, it is they who are the enemy, not the Leopardmen.
Listen to the only sane lion in the building! Demons? Now we're talking with magic power!
Council of Judgment, I, Rakeesh Sah Tarna, stand before you. I swear by my honor to prevent the war, and to bring peace to all Tarna.
I swear to do everything I can to make sure nobody wipes out the Leopardmen until I learn their magic tricks. Good enough?
The Council will respect the honor of Rakeesh Sah Tarna, and allow him time to fulfill his oath.
I noticed you left out "Prince of Shapeir" there.
King Rajah orders Rakeesh and the Prince of Shapeir to meet with him in his chambers immediately.
Didn't miss it there, though.
You tell Rajah you stand before him.
Hey, Rajah, still here.
You stand before me in honor, human. Rakeesh, are you so besotted by humans that you pledge your honor for them? What in the name of Sekhmet do you think you are doing?
I have always pledged my honor to save lives, my Lord.
It's a measure of self worth that doesn't include any magical power. I think it shows how paladinny you are. So, it's my dump stat.
You tell Rajah the meaning of honor.
When I want a lecture upon honor from you I will ask it, human.
You did ask him, Rajah, after all.
When I want your comments, Rakeesh, I shall ask for them.
Rakeesh, I have always cared for you as my brother.
I care greatly for you, Rajah, and respect you as well.
That makes one of us, both ways.
However, if I feel that Tarna must go to war, it shall go to war. Even if I must strip you of all honor, Rakeesh, Tarna will go to war.
Promise?
I only request that you wait until my friend here and I have done all we can to prevent this war.
If the Simbani march against the Leopardmen, I intend that Tarna shall aid them.
Rakeesh is all about the honor, and I'm all about the power. Between us, we'll find the solution that benefits me the most.
Rakeesh, does this human fight your battles for you also?
Yes, actually, yes I do.
You have indeed grown old, Rakeesh, that a human must fight for you.
Yes, actually, yes he has.
Human, leave us now.
Still #1 over there, Rajah!
You say good-bye to Rajah.
I will meet you just outside the gates of Tarna. Then we will go to the Simbani village together.
Sorry, can't hear you, already leaving the city.
You now leave to meet Rakeesh outside the city gates.
So, Rakeesh, nice to finally be free of that hellhole, am I right?
It feels very good to be back in my homeland, my friend. This is the savanna, the high grasslands that teem with animals.
Homeland, right. Let's be honest, the city teems with animals too. Those animals are just less tolerant of wizards.
At least you're actually doing something, for a change.
I have been a Paladin for a long time now, ever since the Demons last invaded this land. We must prevent this war between people, and drive any Demons back to the world from which they came.
Is killing them with magic an option? Because I'm up for dealing with demons in my own way. Wait, wasn't it a demon you used as an excuse not to do anything in Shapeir but sit around and talk?
...
...awkward silence...
+3 Explore Eastern Savanna (74)
Ok, look, I'm sorry, Paladin powers are nice too. At least it's better than being a stupid Fighter. Hey, at least we're far away from all the magic hating now. Anything is more tolerant than those Liontaur council folks, am I right?
Fear of magic, you say...this could be fun.
It is getting dark, and this looks like a good place to camp for the night.
I have a tinderbox, thanks...and magical Flames. But you can handle this one, so you feel important. Dinner's on you too, though. I barely have any food.
Rakeesh starts a fire and you share some food he brought with him. Then you both lie down to sleep.
All right, time to scare some folks into submission and get this party started!
It would be best if you do not mention your skills at magic, nor cast any spells within the walls of the village.
And I think it would have been best if you mentioned this before we left the city. Why the fuck not? I can handle myself.
I think that part of the reason they dislike the Leopardmen and seek this war is because the Leopardmen use magic.
Which is almost the entire reason I like the Leopardmen.
The Simbani have been friends and allies with my people for a long time, but I have not dealt with the Leopardmen before this.
I have a better idea, then. Why don't you go to the Simbani, while I go to the Leopardmen, and we'll see who achieves war peace first.
...
We've arrived at the Simbani village, my friend.
Well, fuck. I'll play along for now, then.
Habari, Mzee Mngoje.
There are about two too few vowels there.
It is good to see you, Mngoje. I have here a friend and brave Warrior from afar to see the wonders of your village.
I think you meant brave Wi...ohhhhh, right.
Habari, bwana.
A berry guano right back at you.
You say hello to the Elder.
Mzuri, bwana.
Missouri guano?
We are most honored, Mzee Mngoje, to enter your village. Kwa heri.
I'd be most honored to leave your village voluntarily, so I'll keep quiet...mostly.
Kwa heri, Simba Rakeesh. Kwa heri, bwana.
Why do you keep calling me bwana?
'Bwana' means 'master'.
Ahh. Carry on, then.
Freeedooooom! Sorry, hi.
Hi...mabwana?
It word of respect, like 'rich master'.
Ahh, very good. So, what's happening here? Seems like a ... quiet place.
Hatujambo, Uhura. Hujambo, Simba. You both look healthy and happy to be home again.
It very good to be home. I be happy to show you both the way of the Simbani.
Lead on.
Laibon, I Uhura, Warrior of the Simbani, be standing before you with two Warriors from far lands.
Habari, Warriors.
Mzuri sana, Laibon Mkubwa. It is good to see you again, great leader of the Simbani people.
It is good to see you, Warrior Rakeesh.
That is a .... nice hat, Laibon.
You greet the Laibon.
Mzuri. You are welcome here.
Laibon, I have come here to bring peace to your people and the Leopardmen. I have sworn this by my honor.
Mzuri, Warrior Rakeesh. Bring the Leopardman chief to his knees before me and you shall have this peace you pledge.
I kinda like this guy.
What has caused this great anger for the Leopardmen, Laibon Mkubwa?
The Leopardmen have always been our enemies. They be sneaky and not to be trusted, for they only travel at night. The worst of all be that they use magic.
Yeah, those monsters. *cough* classist *cough*
Sounds fair enough to me. What's the problem?
The Leopardmen will always be our enemies, and now they have made us call for war. They stole from us the Spear of Death and for that, they shall die! Then they will no longer be our enemy.
The Spear of what now?
+2 Ask Laibon about Spear of Death (76)
That's a good spear. How do you plan on getting it back, then?
We will call all of the Simbani tribes to this place. Then we will go into the jungle. The jungle will be filled with our Warriors. Then, we will find the Leopardman village. The Simbani will defeat the Leopardmen. Their village will be covered in death. Then the war will be over.
I would like to see you, Laibon of the Simbani and the chief of the Leopardmen, speak your grievances before the Hall of Judgement in Tarna. Perhaps there can yet be a peaceful resolution of conflict.
It's probably your best chance to avoid extinction. I hear magic can be quite poweful and deadly in the right hands.
There are words more powerful than you could ever imagine. They could...Force you to comply, if you Fetch my drift.
Kwa heri, Laibon.
Actually, I have quite the stunning discertation ready for you, Laibon...
You all walk back to Uhura's hut to rest and discuss things before evening.
Fucking peace loving hippies.
Good. Very good. But Simba well worth leaving my home for.
The Laibon was most gracious to see us, yet I felt as though we were not welcome. I do not understand, for I have always respected him. How did we offend him?
I be not knowing, Rakeesh. The Simbani have lost much honor with the stealing of the Spear of Death. Still, for the Laibon not to listen to your words of peace be not right.
What's the deal with that spear, anyway?
+2 Ask Uhura about Spear of Death (78)
He certainly seemed like the most thick-headed of Laibons.
I have known the Laibon for a long time, and respect him well. He is a wise man, and usually listens as well as speaks.
As a youth, he be called Anahasema "He does not speak" because he be listening always.
This is where I come in, isn't it.
I am returning to Tarna in the morning. My hind leg is bothering me again, so you my friend, will have to do the exploring without me.
Really? The gimpy leg excuse again? We just walked 2 days and you're about to walk 2 more. But no, you can't explore, that may hurt. Hell, let's explore right now!
You be right hero of Shapeir, we be sitting too much.
A young ...Bullock?
Ok, this I've got to see.
The Simbani celebrate your arrival with meat, milk and dancing. It is late when you finally make it back to your hut.

Is it bad that about 66% of these pictures aren't loading on my phone, yet I still know whats going on based on half the conversation and the fact that I played these games sooooooooooo many times?
Huh, no idea why the images in that last set aren't loading. They load if I open them in a new tab. Maybe it's related to the forum issues.

They loaded fine for me last night, I assume it's the forum's fault.

could also be my phone throttling my bandwidth. Eitherway, I know enough of the game to know what's going on and what's being said. Besides, you guys add all the best dialog.
Josh, I hate to hear that. All I can say, as cliche as it is, is I hope you keep yall's chin up. And indeed leave the funny to Piotyr!
Thanks to Joat, Syphyre, and Piotyr for making my flu go by in a flash. Reading this thread has kept my attention away from all the crap going on inside my face.
Werewolf Bar Mitzvah. Spooky scary!
Boys becoming men. Men becoming wolves.
I think the only prescription for this thread is another set. I should be able to get another one up this weekend. Not sure what to call it yet besides "Damn This Simbani Village Sucks".
The plot thickens! And the Simbani village remains hateful of magic and mostly useless to me.
Magic User 34 - Awari Wizard
Now, where were we?
Ahh, right. That poor, young actress. I'd have helped, but I promised not to use magic on the Simbani for now.
I think the proper term is harem, but who's counting?
I will head back to Tarna at first light. Find out what you can about what is going on. I do not think the Laibon told us everything he knows.
Be careful on that gimpy leg. Wouldn't want you to strain it by doing something useful.
If you can find the Spear of Death, we may be able to convince the Laibon that war is unnecessary. Good luck.
I'm aching to find some pro-magic folks, anyway. If the Leopardmen have the spear, I'll keep an eye out for it. Mostly to avoid my own death, but hey, if your honor is saved as a side effect, yay team.
To-Do (for now): - Find (and return?) the Simbani Spear of Death. They didn't see who took it, so it had to have been Leopardmen (in what may be the largest leap of logic in history).
I think that the Laibon told us only what he wanted us to know about this war. When you have earned his trust, perhaps he will tell you more.
How badly do I have to fake being an idiot to earn his trust? I'm aching for some magical release here, if you catch my drift.
We're being literal here, and not speaking in sexual euphemism again, right? Maybe I'll find some magic wood on the way to the Leopardmen village, because this place blows worse than Tarna.
Jungles sound like just the place to get wood.
Magic pool sounds much safer than magic-hating villages, thanks.
As I said, I will go back to Tarna and find out if Kreesha has learned anything more about Demons.
Heaven forbid you actually do anything useful as a Paladin, right?
He's just full of crazy, isn't he?
Rajah still believes that war is honorable. He will be trying to convince the council to declare war upon the Leopardmen. Unless I am in Tarna, Rajah may succeed in starting this war.
You make a good point. Ok, you stop everyone from attacking Leopardmen, and I'll warn them about you try to find them and see what's up.
Yes, I'll try to get the actual truth. From both sides. If I can find a way to get these haters to trust me.
The longer you stay here, the more the Simbani and the Laibon will learn to respect you.
And the likelier that I'll just snap and burn the place to ashes.
Fine, I'll use the tinderbox, then. Better get a good night's sleep if I'm going to have patience for these haters for a while.
Good night, my friend.
Rakeesh left the hut at first light. You vaguely remember hearing his farewell.
Finally alone. Let's go a-pillaging.
Yep, happening place here. Hmm...maybe the Laibon will just answer some questions for me now, so I don't have any reason to hang around here.
Or...I could just go see what Uhura's doing.
Damn it, then, I'll explore the rest of this massive village. Starting to the east.
The bridge between the two platforms consists of rough-hewn planks supported on a pair of wooden poles. Knotted ropes give access to each end of the bridge.
This looks deadly with my climbing skill. Without the benefit of Levitation, I'd best just leave this alone and check out the rest of the village. To the west!
What have we here?
This is an obvious target.
Fuck you, narrator, and fuck spears. This looks like a good place to Force the issue.
Yep, this place fucking blows. Oh well, one more direction to explore. To the north!
Hey, look, a living being.
Yesufu, huh? What is your job here?
I am the son of the Laibon. I am also a very good Awari player. That is the game you see before me.
Ahh, well met, path to the Laibon's trust Yesufu. I am Jim Darkmagic, Prince of Shapeir, and twice a hero of the land. Lately I've destroyed powerful wizards and elementals. I'm pretty much the most powerful being in this land.
So the man behind all bad things in Shapeir was a Wizard. All users of magic be bad.
I don't know about that. Looks like you could use a little magic to spruce up this pile of twigs you call a village.
The Simbani are a roving people. This is only our home for this season. Usually we will move soon to another village, where our cattle can graze on fresher grass.
That...makes a whole lot more sense of things, actually.
This year, though, we will be staying here until we win the war against the Leopardmen and regain our Spear of Death.
And back comes the crazy. What do you know about the missing spear?
Can we at least not start this war until there is some actual evidence? How can you be so sure the Leopardmen took it?
The Leopardmen are a sneaky people who live in the jungle. We have always stayed away from them before. Now that they stole our Spear of Death, they be our enemy.
This epic leap in logic hurts my brain even more...
Anyway, what's the deal with that cage? Big Bird?
*makes special note to avoid that thing* So, what is this game, some kind of game of mental skill? Because I bet I'd be pretty good at that around here.
This is the game of Awari. I will be happy to show you how it is played.
+3 Play Awari with Yesufu (81)
From what I've seen in this village so far, I think I may be able to beat the entire village at once.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold it. You have their Drum of Magic? What's the story with that?
Well, that's an interesting piece of information that the Laibon conveniently withheld. I'll have to ask him about it some time.
To-Do (for now): - Ask Laibon about Leopardmen Drum of Magic
Now how are you so sure that it's the Leopardmen who took the Spear of Death?
No one can say how the Spear of Death was taken. It be stolen at night by magic and a claw mark be left behind, so the Leopardmen must have taken it.
Well at least that's some kind of evidence. Oh, by the way, I think the game is over.
Good game, Yesufu. Maybe another day we'll play again. For now, I really need to go explore somewhere that people don't roundly despise magic and blame everything on it.
Good story, elder. I'd love to chat, but I really need to get out of town for a while.
Kwa heri, bwana.
Freeeeeedooooommm!! Now, what was I actually doing before this three day barrage of exposition and magical classism?
To-Do (for now):
- Find magical wood for staff
- Find Gem of the Guardian so Sekhmet can judge me
- Get honey bird feathers without violence.
- Make yet another Dispel Potion.
-- Water from the Pool of Peace
-- Gift from the Heart of the World
- Ask Laibon about Leopardmen Drum of Magic
- Find Leopardmen and learn their magics.
- Find (and return?) the Simbani Spear of Death.
- Find Demon-Wizard and measure up.
This Pool of Peace sounds like exactly the kind of magic-loving location for a wizard. What's that to the south, there?
That seems to be a small lake.
Small enough to classify as a pool, perhaps? Worth checking out.
There is a feeling of peace and serenity here. This reminds you a bit of Erana's Peace in Spieldburg. You have the same, comfortable feeling that nothing will harm you here.
Sure, it sounds peaceful, but how can I know for sure this is the Pool of Peace? What's that thing on that rock up there?
You had a bad habit of dozing off during Rune Lore 101, but this one you remember. It's the symbol for Peace.
Good enough for me. Let's do some magic training! What do I even have in terms of spells now?
There is a strong aura of magic here, particularly near the large rock.
Can I Trigger it?
Nothing seems to have been triggered.
I'll just do some target practice with Flame and Force over here, then.
A feeling of peace fills you, and you relax.
So...no violence, no spells cost mana, and no magical skill gained on anything cast here. This place blows. Ahh well, let's just get some water, then.
You fill your waterskins from the pool.
+3 Get Water from the Pool of Peace (84)
To-Do (for now):
- Make yet another Dispel Potion. -- Water from the Pool of Peace
-- Gift from the Heart of the World
Already down to one Dispel Potion ingredient. Just cruising right along. However, I really feel the overwhelming desire to kill things with magic, and I can't do that here. Time to explore...
You'll do...
All too easy. It's getting late, though, so I should probably head back to the Simbani Village, lest they think I deserted them and go do something monumentally stupid.
See, Elder, I came back on my own. I love the Simbani!
I should go check on Uhura before I got to sleep, though, see if she's still sane.
It's...uhh...like the kindling for a huge magical fire? I mean, it's nice! I like the...uh...target area. It's bright and colorful compared to the rest of the village.
While a Wizard need simply to call upon Flame and Force and it does what I tell it to.
You tell about your day.
So, I heard that this Drum of Magic showed up from Yesufu while I was pantsing him in Awari. Next time I can, I'll ask the Laibon about it. For now, though, I'm going to head to the jungle tomorrow to look for the Leopardmen village and some other things on my to-do list, because the savanna is boring. I need you to keep the Laibon from being an idiot until I get back. As much as possible, that is.
That be most interesting, young hero.
Ok, never mind. You, keep the Simbani here while I go find magic. I will come back eventually, and for this village's sake everyone had best still be here when I get back, or it's all kindling. Good night.
Tomorrow, I'm off to find actual magic. Preferably destructive or something close.

I love how you feel asleep during a corespondence course...
Man this game always gets my tummy rumblin when it describes the meals. Even the uninspired "meat and milk". I think my favorite parts of these games have been the breakfasts and dinners at the Katta inn.
I could go for a big ol' steak and a tall glass of milk right now
Werewolf Bar Mitzvah. Spooky scary!
Boys becoming men. Men becoming wolves.
This game really takes forever to get rolling doesn't it?
Really, after day 3 the game is wide open. There's one specific event required for the wizard before we can trigger end game events, which I'm kind of taking the roundabout way of getting to, since I want to do everything there is to do. Besides that, though, the game is totally wide open to do everything or nothing to get to the end.
Truthfully, the Simbani village really is useless to the Wizard, except for plot points. There's a whole Warrior Initiation procedure to gain the trust of the Simbani, but there isn't a single reason for the wizard to even do it. It's mostly a Paladin/Fighter deal.

Not sure how much you need it but Awari ups your intelligence when you play. That much I remember.
Ok, one quick game of Awari to boost the ego, and then...off to the jungle (finally)!
Uhh...hi. No Yesufu today? Oh well, you want to hear a story, then? I'm Jim Darkmagic, and I'm a wizard hero. I've defeated elementals of fire, air, earth, and water, and survived trials by water, air, fire, earth and temptation. I've stopped the unstoppable Iblis and set fire to the dark wizard Ad Avis in the process. As a result, I'm the Prince of the entire land of Shapeir.
Asante, hero of Shapeir. I can find many stories in the words you tell.
Actually, I'm very interested in a story about a magic drum, now that you mention it.
I give you this story. There was once a people. A proud people. A peaceful people. A people who had no enemy.
Ok, I get it, people, move along.
Then one night, a thief stole into their village and stole their magic spear.
I think I've heard this part of the story before.
Now the people have an enemy. Now the people can have no peace. But who be this enemy? Who be the thief who stole the magic spear? That is not known.
You must be the most sensible person in this village, then.
Then the next day, a Warrior was found in front of the village of these people. That Warrior was dying. That Warrior have in his hand a magic drum. That Warrior have on his lips a name. That name be Leopardman. And the Warrior, he die.
That answers...nothing.
These be the questions of the story. Why did the Warrior have the magic drum? Why did the Warrior say, "Leopardmen"? Why did the Warrior die?
And?
I have given you this story. Now the questions are yours to do with what you will.
Thanks...I think. At least I know I'll be asking the Laibon a question or two next time I see him. Do you know anything else?
Sure, I'll give you time for one more.
I give you this story. Once there was a boy who could do magic.
This is my new favorite story.
Oh man, do I know what that's like.
So the boy with the magic left the village. One day, a terrible monster came to the village. This monster was big. This monster was magic. No warrior could defeat this monster.
Of course they couldn't. Fucking useless warriors.
The boy with the magic came back to the village.
Lucky warriors.
Is that why they don't trust magic here, then? One of the members of the tribe used magic to save the village from evil magic and died? So they blame magic for everything?
I have given you this story. Now the questions are yours to do with what you will.
Thanks again. Hey, you're all right, storyteller. Maybe I'll see you later.
May your life be always filled with stories.
Now, off to track down some magic. For good, of course...
To-Do (for now):
- Find magical wood for staff
- Find Gem of the Guardian so Sekhmet can judge me
- Get honey bird feathers without violence.
- Make yet another Dispel Potion.
-- Gift from the Heart of the World
- Ask Laibon about Leopardmen Drum of Magic
- Find Leopardmen and learn their magics.
- Find (and return?) the Simbani Spear of Death.
- Find Demon-Wizard and measure up.
Time to try to track down these Leopardmen and hear their side of the story.
Farewell, Simbani village. Try not to get yourselves killed in war before I get ba...
Huh. Yeah, nothing on the to-do list has to do with ants, and it's a waste of Flame to burn the thing. Ah well, I'll just Calm things down here and move on.
A feeling of peace and tranquility fills the area.
To the jungle!
+3 Explore Western Jungle (87)
That tree definitely seems worth exploring. To the tree!
Man, travel takes forever. I've gotta get some kind of teleport spell from Kreesha or something. Walking is lame. Oh well, let's just set up camp for the night.
Take that, firewood!
You awaken as the sun begins to rise.
And, just so I don't accidentally burn down the Leopardman village...
Happy now, Smokey? Now, let's check out that giant tree.
That...is a huge ass tree. With what looks like a path leading up it. Wizard sense tingling! I'm Detecting a lot of magic up there. Let's do some exploring.
Up we go...
Don't fall and die, don't fall and die...
Thank goodness this tree has natural railings, or else I'd be totally fucked. Far too kind for an adventure game.
Hey, an opening. What's in here?
Uhh...hi? I come in peace...mostly.
You say hello but there is no response. You seem to hear voices coming from inside your head.
You are a creature of peace, and so are most welcome here. What is it that you seek?
I seek several things, actually.
Ooh, can I get magical wood here? This place looks like exactly the place for magical wood.
If you desire some magical wood from the Mother of the World, you must first earn it.
Aww, son of a...
Return with the glowing blue orchid to the Heart of the World Place it upon the stand, and you shall gain the magical wood you desire.
To-Do (for now):
- Find magical wood for staff -- Find Blue Orchid in jungle
-- Bathe Orchid in Pool of Peace
-- Bring Orchid to Heart of the World to exchange for magical wood
Heart of the World, you said? Turns out I need a Gift from there. How do I go about getting that?
You are seeking a gift from the Heart of the World? To receive such a gift, first one you must give.
Of course. What's the catch this time?
That's...fine, actually. I happen to have a bunch of water from the Pool of Peace. Score!
One last thing while I'm here...I actually need a Gem of the Guardian as well. You said you were the Guardian, so...
Did I say Gem? I meant gems. Score!
We only offered you one gem! You have returned kindness with greed.
No, no, one is good! I will stop bothering the powerful killing essence of guardian now. Thanks for all the help!
+5 Get Gem of the Guardian (92)
To-Do (for now): - Find Gem of the Guardian so Sekhmet can judge me - Get judged by Sekhmet in Tarna
Off to the Heart of the World, which I assume is that cave at the top.
And here we are.
You hear the sounds of all the living things in here creating a melody which is so beautiful you are moved to tears. It is the music of life itself.
No, no, it's hayfever. Fucking allergies!

I think I'd like to set this up as my new base.

Well, now I can get Dispel Potions. From way back in Tarna, but I expect I'll need them eventually.
That's all I can do here for now. Time to had back and explore the jungle a bit for a blue orchid or Leopardman village.
Fucking luck, what good are you. Oh well, it's getting late, and I should probably head back towards the Simbani village to make sure they're not being idiots yet. But first...

I think it's mentioned in 4, but you can Calm your fire here for a bit of extra practice.
Not sure how much you need it but Awari ups your intelligence when you play. That much I remember.
There's a plot point related to playing 3 days of Awari with Yesufu. The storyteller bit was actually an accident, but it prevented me from doing that up front, so I went to the jungle to avoid wasting time.
Heh, no worries, I just happened to get a nice string of random event luck, so I didn't have to sit around doing nothing for days to get random events to trigger, so I may yet put another set up tonight.
Oh, and as for why I'm not really training stats yet...I wanted to get the staff first.
Well, the village is still here, so the Simbani haven't been complete idiots yet. At least Uhura is on my side.
To-Do (for now):
- Find magical wood for staff
-- Find Blue Orchid in jungle
-- Bathe Orchid in Pool of Peace
-- Bring Orchid to Heart of the World to exchange for magical wood
- Get honey bird feathers without violence
- Make yet another Dispel Potion
- Ask Laibon about Leopardmen Drum of Magic
- Get Judged by Sekhmet in Tarna
- Find Leopardmen and learn their magics
- Find (and return?) the Simbani Spear of Death
- Find Demon-Wizard and measure up
Time to pay the Laibon a quick visit and ask a few questions...
Thanks for agreeing to see me. I was wondering...what's up with the drum?
+2 Ask Laibon about Drum of Magic (99)
I don't want to go calling people hypocrites, here, but...how did that drum get here?
One of our bravest Warriors, Mbuzi, was found dead outside the village gates one morning with the drum in his hands. He had been killed by magic.
Do you know for sure that's what killed him?
Mbuzi had been a dead man before he came to our gates. How he died, we do not know.
So, "do not know" automatically jumps to "magic is evil", then?
I heard a story about a boy of magic from this village. Does that have anything to do with why magic is so feared here?
We are Warriors. Magic is for weaklings and women. We do not permit magic here.
Except, say, a Drum of Magic, am I right?
-5 Get kicked out of Laibon's hut (94)
Wait a second, wait a second, things were said, and I'd like to unsay them and simply end with a good-bye. -5 Get kicked out of Laibon's hut (94)
(This is the only instance where too much talking actually gets you negative points. The only hint it may be the wrong thing to do is that the option changes to "Drum Again" after you mention it once.)
Kwa heri, bwana.
Time for an intellectual pick-me-up by beating Yesufu senseless in Awari.
And the back-handed compliment of the week award goes to...Yesufu!
The Simbani be Warriors, not Wizards. Magic be for cowards and weaklings. A Simbani cannot respect a user of magic.
You definitely sound like your father. Enough talk, Yesufu, lest you miss your daily Awari beating.
Back in the day, I was fresh out of correspondence school. Some podunk town by the name of Spielburg was a mess. I managed to singlehandedly destroy a kobold, tame a bear, extinguish a species called goblins, ruin a band of brigands, and drive off an ugly hag. All with the use of this magic you so despise.
The jungles of Spielburg sound very different from the jungles here. You must be very brave to face so much magic.
All that magic and Spielburg manages to be peaceful. What's your guys' problem?
Haven't seen it yet, but you guys kind of stole the Drum of Magic, so it's hardly unreasonable for them to be upset too. What do your warriors have to say about that?
She's sane, that's why. By the way, how do you like losing again?
No matter how good you be at anything, there will be someone better. A person only really loses when he doesn't try.
That's...oddly sensible, coming from you. I'll remember that, Yesufu. Good game, maybe we'll play again tomorrow.
For now, though...off to the jungle to find a blue orchid.
Come on, luck, don't fail me now...
Atta boy, luck! This looks like a job for Mr. Fetch...
+3 Get Blue Orchid (102)
To-Do (for now):
- Find magical wood for staff -- Find Blue Orchid in jungle
-- Bathe Orchid in Pool of Peace
-- Bring Orchid to Heart of the World to exchange for magical wood
And now, off to the Pool of Peace...
Travelling still blows. Ah well, I'll just stop off at the Simbani village for the night.
Do you ever sleep? You remind me of a centaur back in Spielburg.
This is...different.
The crowd responds, "Sijambo, bwana."
Story time?
I have caught a story. It is all a lie. It is all the truth. Listen and learn.
The crowd answers, "We will listen."
Ooh, ooh, I know this one!
One day, a thief came into this village and stole this Spear of Death.
The crowd answers, "We will listen."
This thief showed the people that they had an enemy. There cannot be peace as long as you have an enemy.
Especialy when said unknown people jump to conclusions about this enemy.
The crowd answers, "We will listen."
We can all hope so, for Rakeesh's honor's sake.
Now the people be angry. Now the people see the enemy in every stranger. Now the people have lost the great wealth of peace.
*cough* magic *cough*
Now the people call out for war. They call upon friends to join them in war. They call out at the enemy to meet them in war. But the enemy does not speak.
The crowd answers, "We will listen."
*cough* magic *cough*
Who will win this war? The people do not know.
*cough* magic *cough*
The crowd answers, "We will listen."
If only that were true.
The people will fight the enemy and they will win. The people will fight the enemy and they will lose. That is always the way when there be an enemy. That is always the way when there be war.
And that's why you need a hero with intelligence to sort through the bullshit.
The crowd answers, "We listen and learn."
If that's true, then maybe this place isn't doomed after all. Preach on, Tribal Omar.
+2 Listen to Story (104)
Something to sleep on, for sure.
Time for another chat and game with Yesufu before heading out for a while.
I've got time for a quick game. After that I'll be heading off to run some errands for a few days.
There may be some hope for you after all, Yesufu. Hope for this tribe as well. With you on my side, this village may make it through the month.
You ask Yesufu to be your friend.
+3 Become Yesufu's Friend (107)
So, anything else you can tell me about Leopardmen before I go?
I never see a Leopardman before. They stay in the jungle, mostly. Until they steal our Spear of Death, the Simbani and the Leopardmen have nothing to do with each other.
And yet all the warriors here are still hell bent on war without any real evidence?
That's the kind of thinking that could save your village, Yesufu. I'd best be heading out now to save the world. You keep things calm here. Take care.
Other than that magic hating thing, you're all right.
Now, to actually get some shit done.
To-Do (for now):

Well, shit. I've got some time to kill now, let's see what else is happening on this savanna.
I need a feather from you! In a non-violent way, so it'd be great if you'd just hand one over, thanks. Hey, come back!
Of course a honeybird loves honey. Hey, bird, it just so happens I have a jar of honey right here! I bought it off a guy who specialized in slave labor back in Tarna, so I know it's good!
Nothing? Fuck. OK, plan B, it's Fetching time!
You didn't manage to fetch anything.
Damn it! What's so special about that particular tree? What's up there, anyway?
Ask a stupid question...ok, maybe if I just Force Bolt the tree, it won't count as getting the feather violently...
Good, now come over to this nice, unbothered honey on the ground...
Ack, not you!
Well, fuck it, I'll just leave and come back with a better plan later.
That's...weird. Why mark the spot? Did I miss something?
Sure, now you see the ground honey. Fuck you, bird!
The bird left a feather stuck in the honey when it flew away.
Heh, totally counts.

Well, bigger than a lizardman, at least. I bet I can take you while juggling lights, though.

Yeah, I usually try to hide the cursor in the lower right corner of the screen, but that doesn't work very well with the walk cursor. Especially with scenes where the character sprite is as small as or smaller than the cursor. I'll see what I can do about making those screens less cluttered and more obvious.
