I just beat the "Ancient Evil" boss on Hard and he's easier than any blood mage I've encountered. Motherfuckers just one shot your party if you don't keep them stunned.
fucking Varric in the Fade. Jesus the dude murdered me in like two seconds. I guess I specced him well?
I made sure to have Merrill and Isabella in my top two spots, I basically one-shotted them with a spell while Varric cleaned up the Pride and desire demons.
Yeah... if that's one I think you're talking about, I ended up having Merril solo it for the last like quarter of its health.
Fortunately as long as you keep your distance at that point he no longer hides and summons mini-dragons and he will only shoot fireballs that you can easily dodge.
My party setup for this playthrough has been Varric, Merril and Fenris with Hawk as a 2-hand warrior. Unlike DA:O I haven't really had a need for a healer, sure it's useful at some points, but it's not a necessity.
Finally finished the game. Clocked in at 36:45 and at level 23.
This is super small but the only thing that really confused me at the end was
I romanced Merrill, got the kiss before the big fight at the end, but Varric's ending speech said, in a very "audio changing to a new file" voice, that Isabella is the only one not to leave my side.

Either way, whatever.
If you hit a certain friendship trigger with Isabella after you do most of the Romance with Merrill the game glitches the ending a bit.
Merrill in general has quite a few glitches surrounding her story and stuff, and the devs said they were working on it.

Do you have to start dodging at a certain moment or something? Because it seems like most of the time the fireballs will home in on my guys.
Just finished it. Fun game, but buggy as hell. Couldn't do Fenris quests because I explored places out of order. Also, frequently I'd be unable to target anything in combat, had to switch to another character and let the AI auto-attack something. Tried playing on hard but gave up on that about halfway through, fights were taking way too long.
I sided with the Templars. There are so many blood mages in this game, you have to wonder how many non-blood mages there are in Kirkwall. Although, it's funny how everyone is all "blood mages are uncontrollable maniacs that will turn into demons!" when there's an entire nation that is run by blood mages. It can' t be that bad...

Eh, tevinter is supposed to be pretty bad though
One of the kids you save you can send to tevinter to learn how to control his magic. He writes you a letter and while he's thankful to be alive, you get the sense that everything is fucking batshit in tevinter.

Yeah, Blood magic is not inherently evil. Its just very powerful, and the main limiter is how much blood you have yourself. So you get to thinking, "I could do so much more if only I had more blood!" and soon you're knee deep in a pile of dead kids while you're summoning demons and turning into an abomination.

The one in the Deep Roads right? I have no mage with me. Two warriors, two rogues, heh.
Weird thing that may or may not be an issue: I've been running this on the highest settings (high res pack, 8x AA, 16x AF, 1920x1200) and my graphics card says that it's running at 6% capacity, but my CPU has four cores running at 4.3Ghz and it's at 95-100% capacity. Does this game not use the CPU, or is my computer behaving weird?
Also, I kind of lost interest after the hundredth time my mage got stunlocked and killed before any of my other characters even had time to react. The way that the game interprets 'difficulty' as 'spawn in a whole lot of guys all the time' is getting really tiring. I enjoyed the first game on the hardest difficulty, but I think for this I'm just going to have to drop it to normal and cruise through. When any random mook can kill a mage, it's just annoying to have them spawning in all over the place, especially archers which stunlock everyone so much they can't even move to safety. Not that there is any safety when you're surrounded by archers.
What's this Maker's Sigh bug I keep hearing about? I've used the potion before but have never come across any extra points. Mumble grumble. I could use a few extra points!

Hell of a gateway drug.
That's what the Chantry indoctrinators want you to believe! Could any nation have a functioning society and economy, much less become a great empire, if it were run by sociopathic maniacs? No, it would quickly collapse if it were really that terrible. It's just a different political system, that's all.
That's what Anders would say. I capped him after he pulled an Osama bin Laden
So, I think I've gotten some kind of sequence-breaking bug.
Act 3 spoilers, specifically regarding Merrill:
My Hawke is/has romanced Merrill. He has aided Merrill in the companion quests in the previous acts, giving her the ancient elven knife to complete the mirror, etc.
In the beginning of act 3, they speak in the Hawke estate, Merrill says she's going to visit the Alienage, etc. Afterwards, when entering her house for the companion quest 'A Talking To' it plays a scene of Merrill crying about Marethari dying.
It feels like this is a scene meant to happen after some other part of her companion quest, presumably involving the mirror and the Keeper, because otherwise I have no idea whats going on. Marethari is still at Sundermount for me.
And then, right after that, it plays the 'A Talking To' scene of Varric speaking to Merrill, telling her to get out more, and when speaking to her you have the option of talking about her clan, saying she could visit them.
I'm going to just continue and see what happens, see if it suddenly makes sense, but I am fairly sure its a bug.

Anders is really against blood magic and never uses it, he doesn't like that aspect of Tevinter at all as he says when he puts on the Tevinter chantry amulet.
And I couldn't kill him, the damage was already done at that point and I wanted his help to salvage what I could out of the situation.

I'm fairly certain many people have stated Merrill's quests are pretty bugged and claimed it is high on Bioware's patch fix priority. That said, I didn't romance her, so my storyline with her played pretty straight.
My only bug was with Anders, who seemingly had another quest that I couldn't get to pop after...
I went to the Chantry with him to serve as a distraction for his plot.
Looking forward to the expansion or sequel where I overthrow the fucking chantry but that was some stupid shit there from anders. I guess it worked in the end though since in my ending all the other mage towers rose up. So fuck you Anders, for being right. I'm mad I didn't kill you on the spot since nothing was mentioned post-game about him being executed after a proper trial.
In my opinion the whole circle thing is silly. Mages should exist, and templars should exist to hunt mages who break the law, become abominations, or use bloodmagic. But the whole stealing children and locking them up in a tower and expecting them to live boring prison life while a bunch of assholes glare disapprovingly is fucked up, power to blow up a city block or not.
Edit: Oh and are the EA servers down for anyone else using the PC version? I can't log in.

Sometimes when you use the potion it refunds more points than you have or it refunds all points but leaves some skills still trained. I have no idea what the pattern is. I've noticed it happen twice.
No, because it was a pretty dumb fucking move to destroy the Chantry and the Revered Mother, the only person in Kirkwall who could've prevented the bloodbath that followed. It didn't help that both sides were lead by either a lyrium-possessed templar or a frantic mage backed into a corner who happened to know of the worst kind of blood magic.

Nope. Let's just say there's a really, really hard (optional) one towards the end.
Edit: My ending wasn't bugged and I romanced Merril.
However Isabella left and never returned after I said I wasn't giving her the relic. Stupid bitch.
Also ending spoiler
Is it possible to keep both Anders and Sebastian or is it definitely a one or the other situation?
I'm sad that there wasn't an epilogue explaining how your actions affected the world. I wanted to see how letting so-and-so live, gaining ownership of certain things, etc. would turn out in the long run.
Definitely getting a KoTOR vibe from the ending as well.
What with both the Warden and the Champion disappearing, much like Revan and the Exile.

Yeah, but the entire game I was saying to myself "fuck the chantry and templars, gotta destroy all of it." As magehawke, nearly everything I wanted to have happen did

So... is this a bug, or are socketed runes SUPPOSED to upgrade along with Bianca?
I threw a +3 physical damage rune in there when I first did some enchanting, and as Bianca levels up, so does the rune.
