It was very well done how a lot of what went horribly wrong in my game was because of my companions. Isabela fucked everything up in Act 2 and Anders did the same at the end (though that's the same for everyone). Isabela ran away, Fenris sided against me for allying with the Mages and I executed Anders, so there were some serious repercussions which I liked; very ME2 Suicide Mission but spread out over time.

Fiddling with the save editor for my second playthrough; is the dialogue better with the threesome with Isabela and Alistair or the foursome with Zevran and Leliana? Also, how much do the DA2 romances change based on friendship/rivalry?
    Isabela: Leliana!
    Leliana: Isabela?

Gear question, spoiler Re: Merrill's quest in Act 3.
My mage Hawke is full Elemental, Force Mage, and the talent for +25% fire damage (even on staves) has me leaning towards fire staves. I just killed the Keeper at the end of Merrill's quest and the Torch of Falon'din seems to be a damned nice staff. Am I going to find an upgrade before the end of the game, or am I safe to use some rare runes in it?

    You get it from...
Varric's quest act 2. Tell Varric he has to give up the shard. He'll give it to you, take it to Sandal and he'll make an awesome rune.

Gave +37% attack speed to my greatsword.

That being said...I would save it for your final weapon. I didn't use it til Act 3 myself.

I stumbled across 2 rare runes. I believe that one you get from Bartrand. I had Varric kill him, so perhaps that's the trigger. The idol that you get, Sandal turns into the rune rather than destroying it.

If you are a two-hand warrior then yes, using it yourself is worthwhile. If you're a rogue or mage though? No, that's a huge waste, something that good really deserves a slow attack weapon.

Speaking of which, what two-handers did you all end up settling on? I did a hell of a lot of shopping around and it seemed like the best bet was Bloom, an ice-element axe with +16% cold damage, two rune slots, and a 5% chance to heal 4% HP. It could even freeze things!

I want to find out if I missed some mega weapon somewhere.

Not as stupid as you think. You only craft it once.

    @Elendil: I settled on Celebrant, 38 Spirit damage, +3 str/wil, +17% threat, one slot.

I mainly like it for the spirit damage and 3 str. It tears shit up.

I am only at the start of Act 2 on my two-handed warrior snarky Hawke so I can't help ya there. First playthrough was as a rogue (and Varric was in my party 90% of the time) so it made natural sense to put the rune in Bianca since it leveled up with him and it's a slow attack weapon.

I went with the two handed spirit sword after that one from the same quest line. Since spirit attacks ignore armor entirely and it had a threat up which helped as I was the only war in my party.

I found the formula for the rune that gave me +7 to all attributes.

So I put one of them into each of my 4 armor pieces, expecting that get an awesome +28 to all attributes.

But whether it's a bug or by design, the effect didn't stack, I only got +7.

Still awesome though, I put one into each of my companion's armor.

    I preferred Sundering.

It had huge +damage and +critical damage bonus, and does lightning damage which temporarily stunned the opponent. It's great in boss fights because if often I can keep them stunned for most of the fight.
