because my game simply freezes up at some point in the battle every single time. I'm at double digit freeze ups at this point. I'm not even getting it down to anywhere near half health before any of the crashes. I'm playing on PS3. Is anyone else having this problem?

The next time you play, check to see if there's something specific going on. On the PC, I had the game crash during the end of Act 2 when the enemy mages would cast a specific spell. If I killed the mages before that spell was cast, then it wouldn't crash. If I didn't, then it would.

Unfortunately, my fix wouldn't help you. I switched to the Dx9 renderer. Still, if its crashing when a specific spell or pair of spells is casting, you could just avoid casting those spells during the battle.

Celebant? It's probably the best 2H sword in the game, so far as I've discovered. I'm still playing through act three, but this sword is amazing.

Also, I just unlocked the ability to order Runes of Valiance. Holy crap. It has turned Hawke into a god, and I don't even have the full amount of runes slots possible yet.

Oh, and where do you get that potion that grants you a level? I could use that.

I know its in act 3 somewhere, but you have to have isabela still in your party to get the final resource to make it.

Are you shitting me? What the hell

Ah fuck, I can't forge that potion that grants a level because I'm unable to get the resource for it. You find it during Isabela's third act companion quest, and since I can't do her quest...

Isabela is fucking me in the ass once again. Damn you. Damn you, woman! Damn you!

And dammit, I didn't realize the Rune of Valiance's bonus doesn't stack. All my money! Oh well, I had nothing else to spend it on as I'm nearing the end of the game.

She needs 31 strength, 31 constitution.

She does not need cunning at all, Turn the Blade gives a flat +20% boost which is better than investing in cunning almost always and she can run other sustains to make her survivable.

    Dump the rest into willpower.

If you're on the PC, you can open up the console and just raise her friendship or rivalry. I wish I knew beforehand about her and that stupid requirement. The game gave me no warning about that. Just POOF. Goodbye, Isabela.

And Fizban, you'll soon outclass her in damage potential. I was upset about the loot distribution too, and made quite a fuss about it. All the 2H swords I was finding as loot or in stores paled in comparison to the DPS of the 1H weapons at the time. In act three, my 2H Hawke is a monster of death. Things explode. Aveline's shield would cave before my might!

Are you playing on the PC?

Enable the developer console and make her your friend.

    Otherwise you can try
not asking her to return the book to the Qunari, tell her that she can keep it to return to Castillon and you'll find some other way to deal with the Qunari. I don't know if that will work or not, but I do know that insisting she return the book without sufficient relationship will cause her to leave permanently.

I was ten friendship points away from having her stay. Ten! If only I used her just a little bit more...

...but I had my favorites, and a party configuration that worked. And that's not too uncommon in these type of games, especially if you play on harder difficulty levels. I didn't need two rogues in the party. That's what upsets me about her leaving, and now I'm going to miss out on content. It does make sense for that to happen from a realism point of view, though, but that doesn't mean I have to be happy about it.

I don't know if you can get that without Sebastian, it seems like an important quest and cameo that you'd expect to find in the base game, but it showed up as a companion quest under his name.

    Ending spoilers.
I may have missed it, where was the "You fucking idiot, you did more to hurt the cause of mages than any Templar ever could and even though I kinda, sorta stumbled into a love story with you, I now have to kill you and go all Templar Nazi on all mages because of your actions. You humongous cock. *stabby stabby*" conversation option? I picked the "You used me!" option.

    It wasn't nearly as satisfying.

Also annoying to have the ending bit go all "And then they all left the Champion, except for Anders". I'm taking it to mean that I cut his head off and go round with it, Kratos style.

    Halp!

    I am getting hammered here.

    Act 3
Seriously. The Ancient Rock Wraith, Arishok, the Nexus Golem Gauntlet. Those are all chump fights compared to the High Dragon in the bone pit. He is absolutely destroying me. And by destroying I mean burninating.

I get through phase 1 alright, and take down his dragonlings in Phase 2, but his ranged fire attack is just decimating my team - Varric, Anders, and Merrill.

Varric has Rhyming Triplet as his main single target attack. Anders I've learned to keep him in Panacea mode and only heal, lest he run out of Mana. Merrill just goes to town with Stonefist and Crushing Prison.

In any event though, I inevitably die shortly after the first DPS goes down during phase 2 and his ranged attack. It's seemingly unavoidable. I'm level 18 by the way.

    Any tips?

Yeah, I tried to spread it around. The only one I really didn't use much was Fenris because I was a 2H warrior.

Still I had an optimal set up that I used for any quest with tough fights, me, Aveline,Isabella and Merrill.

Merill is great for all the buff sustains because she used health to cast spells anyway so I used up all of her mana reserve for sustains like group Arcane Shield, Elemental Weapons, Rock Armor.
