Dog and bone fragments

Alright, so I have an 8 pound or so mutt. I was home today, and I went in the bedroom for something and noticed something. Turns out it appeared to be a sizable bone that had been split into several pieces. For the life of me I can't realize where she got it, unless she sneaked it in from outside. I threw it away, but I've heard about dogs and chicken bones. This was several hours ago, and she seemed fine, so I took a nap. My wife got home and took her for a jog. She says she pooped fine. Strange thing is partway through the jog she wasn't keeping up, so my wife carried her home (normally she keeps up fine). She's walking around wagging her tail just fine, so I'm wondering if shes ok. Any help? Thanks!

I wouldn't worry unless the dog starts refusing food.

Fished it out your dustbin? Fed to it by a friendly neighbor over the fence? How big are we talking here, anyway?

I'd say 5-6 inches long. We haven't had anything recently that it could of possibly came from. I've been reading online and apparently the biggest problem is stuff getting caught in their throat. And a huge problem with cooked bones, and I'm honestly not sure this one was.

Chicken bones are bad for animals because they splinter, the sharp pointy pieces can puncture their esophagus, stomach, intestines etc. Pork and beef bones are usually ok because they tend to just break into chunks. Watch her for 24 hours, as long as she acts fine and you don't see blood in her poop/pee, she's OK.

Update: So apparently I was wrong, my wife had cooked chicken and put it in the fridge. We had a bag of trash in the garage waiting for pickup day, and I guess she got the bones from there...and we just found more behind the couch. She still seems to be acting mostly fine, maybe a bit tired from the walk. And I'm also wondering if she is a bit sulky because we're finding something she shouldn't be doing.

My (small as well, 15-25 lbs)dogs have eaten chicken bones they scrounged from god-knows-where several times. No, really, I have no idea where: my family are vegetarians. They never suffered any adverse effects, although that doesn't mean you shouldn't closely observe her for a while. I wouldn't worry overly about it, though.

Thanks for the advice everyone. We're still keeping an eye on her, but shes doing much better than before. This is good to be locked.
