When I try to look at the fighting, I keep thinking that it would look a bit like a movie fight scene if you had pro players and different camera angles.

I was leaning toward bailing on him this game since I used him all the time in MK3/UMK3, but watching those videos made me want to play him again.
I don't know who I want to play as. So many damn kharacters. I want to play Reptile, but not in that outfit. I don't know how I feel about Sindel's fatalities. Watching the guy play as Jade last night made me unsure if I want to play her.

According to the wiki, Cyber Sub-Zero is the younger brother of Sub-Zero. So maybe older brother Sub-Zero is not going to be turned into Noob Saibot? Then...Noob Saibot would'nt need to be around cause older Sub-Zero wouldn't be dead.

Any comments on the difficulty because in the demo even the hardest difficulty isn't that bad. (granted you're stuck to playing the lowest levels of the ladder so there's that affecting it too)

I'm interested in trying Baraka, Ermac, and Noob Saibot. Baraka and Ermac because I played them in MK2 and UMK3 respectively, and Noob Saibot because his complete redesign looks interesting. But if past experience with new fighting games is anything to go on I'll end up playing characters I wouldn't have even considered before the game came out.

Well that's how all fighting games work if you haven't been into them ever / in a long time. You get your shit kicked in online until you slowly start to figure stuff out and start winning more. It's a process everyone has to go through for every fighting game. I look forward to it ... well I look forward to the part where the game starts to click for me at the end of the beatings.

Get good at blocking. Really. I think that is most beginner's main problem.
Just think of it like this...
In Street Fighter, you hold back most of the time (or you should...or I did because I mained Guile). In Mortal Kombat, you should always have a finger on the block button...blocking most of the match.
Always think defense first. Guy is across the screen? Does he have a projectile? Walk/dash in and block. Do not jump in (usually). Guy good at combos? Block the whole combo AND THEN stop blocking and retaliate.

Yes, Blocking is a fundamental skill that a lot of people tend to neglect.
You'd be surprised how far good blocking and punishing can take you.
Time to get rid of that MvC3 garbage and get this. I thought I would never say something like that.
If I actually traded games in, I would 100% MvC3 and trade it in to be honest. But, I never really trade in games, so it will sit at like 95% achievements and never be completed. Heh.
Well just paid off MK on Best Buy's website for store pickup. Those Kabal vs Reptile videos were pretty wicked. I'm curious as to what character I'm going to click with. Definitely playing through story mode first though.

Ed Boon had said a while ago (after Armageddon but before MK vs DC) that he wanted the next big MK game to really reboot the cast and the story. Get rid of the old and bring in a ton of new faces.

The execution of so many popular characters may be a proper ending to them and a way to usher in a shitload of new characters like Boon originally wanted.
Then Again the ending to MK9 really sets the stage for a "retelling" of MK4-onwards in the same way MK9 was a retelling of MK1-3.
So this may not be the case actually.

The 15 hours comes from them saying a 15 hour single player experience. Which is Story Mode + Challenge Tower. In case anyone is wondering where the confusion with that number comes from.
So I just went ahead and spoiled myself on the entire story.
So, it seems all the "good" guys except Sonya, Johnny and Raiden are all dead. Quan Chi may be in control of them, so who knows if we're going to see them? The majority of the "bad" guys are still alive though, so in the next installment we'll probably see them join forces with the last surviving three to stop the Netherealm's invasion.
I thought it was a pretty good mode, the transitions into fights was way cooler and smoother than MK vs DC's own story mode. I also liked how Cyber Sub Zero was the good cyborg, although he's sadly dead. I noticed they built up Cyrax's story and just kind of left him hanging, so that obviously must mean he has to have some sort of whole new plotline in the next game. At least I hope so.
But then, this is Mortal Kombat, where they routinely kill off the majority of the kast only to have them kome back in the next game. So, how many do you actually expect to stay dead?
I only did so because I probably won't have enough money to go and buy it for many months to come. Think of it as a preemptive strike against not being able to contain myself for that long.

The body count has never been this high... I mean I don't think (ya know, not counting MK:A)
I feel pretty good about this as I think MOST (not all) of the old cast are shitty characters riding on the nostalgia wave.
And with them taking a more cinematic and serious approach to the story, we can't assume they'll all be brought back.
I'd bet on most returning though! Albeit in typical MK fashion, in the next NEXT game. They like their characters to take a breather when the die, lol.
