It would be hilarious if they do not regulate a hard limit on the number of Koreans who can participate and the NASL ends up being 90% Koreans + Team Liquid members from Korea. And no one else. Except Tyler because he is a boss.

So, I'm still failing every match I play.
I finally saw the virtue of WarpGates. Somehow, up until now, I had thought Gateways were better; probably cause I used to queue up and forget about units. So my last game was much closer, but then my opponent rolled a load of Collosi into my base, and I was done.
And the 4gate takes another Terran heretic down, I think I have the hang of this build for the most part. Obviously I can vastly improve still but I would like to work on another build. What is a relatively safe Protoss opening?

3gate -> expand
2gate -> robo -> expand
I run 2gate -> starport -> gate -> expand a lot and its usually pretty safe against zerg/toss but you have to be able to micro decently well with phoenixes to make it worthwhile. A fast VR can be effective harass against terran depending on the map, if they wall off, and if they go heavy marauder rather than heavy marine.
I see why 4 gate is so strong, it is quite easy to get the build down and, especially for my level of play, it is hard to defend against unless you know it is coming and know what to do and even then with my level of experience it is still much easier for me to execute the 4 gate than it is for them to do whatever they have to do.
Any tips? I don't have any losses today to show (gogo 4 gate) but I still do appreciate constructive criticism. I probably should have lost this game, I scouted 6 pool but though I could defend it properly, messed up my wall but he didn't continue to pressure so I had a chance to come back. Anyways any tips? I know I suck at keeping probes building, chrono boosting and all that.
"These banes are going to be SO USELESS, I can't even explain it. Zenio's done for."
Banes slaughter blue flame hellions, lings slaughter every thor, :P
This is why artosis is casting rather than playing in the GSL. He seems to think every unit has a set role and is useless outside that role, until someone else finds an unconventional way to use a unit well....and then he just harps on about it likes it's the most obvious thing in the world. This attitude is epitomized by his constant use of the word "counter." Yes...there are counters in SC2...but that's not the only role of a unit.
Perfect example...he only ever suggests immortals as a valid unit to make if a terran player is going mech/marauder or a zerg player is going roach/ultra. If the terran even has a handful of marines or the zerg has even a few zerglings...then immortals are a waste in his eyes b/c those units "counter" the immortal. That's not the case at all. The immortal is much more than just an anti armor unit. It is a great support unit that's beefy and deals a lot of damage, even against light units. I mean, obviously you shouldn't make them if your opponent is ONLY making marines or ONLY making zerglings. Then that is prolly a waste of money. But you also don't only have to make immortals as the "counter" to armor units. It is a solid support unit regardless.
Another example is baneling drops against protoss. At first he was all wtf why would you make banelings against toss. Other, better players, realized that while the banelings may not get their bonus damage against armored units like stalkers...they still do nice splash damage....especially against the protoss deathball that is all nice and clumped up. A player like artosis would have never thought to do something like that b/c clearly "you make banelings to kill light units and light units only."

The best way to avoid the walling issue you had is to place your first pylon so that the power field just barely kisses the top corners of your ramp. This also makes it safe from roach snipes from below.
Your first priority should have been plugging that gap with a full wall or 1wide choke with a zealot in it - I wouldn't have made those two pylons in the back.
Hotkey your units as soon as they are made. It didn't hurt you this game, but if you had been harassed or attacked with your units unkeyed it would have gone badly.
Selecting unit(s) and hitting SHIFT + 1 will add them to control group 1, so you don't need to recreate the group every time. Each time you warpin or a tech unit pops out, use this to keep your groups up to date.

I tried to get in line for the PAX Day9/Husky 10:00-Midnight shabang at 8:30 and it was already full.
It made me sad.
Anyone else get in?
I actually showed up at midnight and heard the second half of the q&a and got to watch the finals of the pax tourney cast by jp/day/incontrol/wheat/husky

I wouldn't criticize Artosis too harshly for it.
But banes are amazing whenever a terran relies purely on blue flame hellions for their aoe damage.

I wouldn't criticize mainly because he's trying to predict how the game is gonna go, since that's his job while he's calling it
so rather than say 'oh. an immortal.........'
he says 'oh, an immortal. that's gonna do great against marauders and mech but if the terran has marines and can focus fire it down it won't be useful'
or rather than say 'oh, the terran is massing marauders..........'
he says 'as the toss sees the terran invest in marauders it would be smart to get out some immortals as they deal sick damage to em'
Banes are super sexy vs blue flame because they're not considered light.

I'm not trying to say artosis is a bad player for it, by any means. But IMO he thinks very 1-dimensionally as far as unit roles go. This is a very prevalent attitude though even at higher levels. And it isn't helped by the fact that Blizzard really did try to make as many units as possible fulfill a counter role.
also i need to find some replays to copy leet strats from
in more concrete terms, i just want a pvz, pvt, and pvp so i can try and bang out three builds in practice and try and use them on the ladder
something like 4gate for pvp
and then i don't even know for the others
but i just want to emulate at the moment some decent strategies because i'm finding i'm kind of faltering on my macro when i have no strategy past "uh get some gateways and colossi eventaully cause they own"
would be nice to have some food timings and shit
i don't even know, but this seems like a good direction to go

I was in a PA lobby a couple weeks ago and someone showed up a good PvT gate/cyber FE build where you chrono probes and first stalker and build 2 gates while the nexus is building and a 4th when allowed and then you go from there. Works REALLY well
If whoever that is is reading maybe he'll post a replay.

And then they just kept making that joke over and over until I fell asleep.

also
holy fuck huk's stream doesnt look like a turd anymore
is being such a baller with blink stalkers and motherships
like
nonstop
And he wins with the mothership sacrifice.
did you catch where earlier when he was defending his third with pure stalkers versus roach/hydra with insane blink micro of like
40 something stalkers
was sick
