I am a fan of all three of the Prime LPs, mostly for Vicas' increasingly exasperated expertise. He and his two buddies also amuse me in their own stuff (DK64 is pretty great, alao Vicas' Mario 64: foot fetish edition). The best slowbeef/diabetus LP though is obviously Dead to Rights though.
As for the best SSLPs, I will never stop pimping Nakar's Ultima LPs. They are the best thing. I also think Azzur's Warcraft and increasingly less frequently updated Warcraft II LP are pretty great examples. There are also some very creative/funny Monkey Island LPs on the SA archive. I also really like the various Paradox game LPs, which are linked in the OP of this forum's which is linked in my sig. Shameless linkwhoring!

Haven't done any streaming in a while, but I finally found a solid A/V cable for the Sega CD(!), so I'm gonna test it out if anyone wants to help by being a guinea pig for how it displays.
One of the top five SSLPs is Animal Crossing, which is on lparchive (also possibly the first one I ever read).
Ok, my final word/opinion on y'all trying to convince me VLPs can be good, after watching some during insomnia last night. You're right, they can be good. But I still stand by my original statement that I don't like most of them. slowbeefs included. I do not like his sense of humor. I do not like most people's sense of humor in these videos, much less their inability to not screech into the microphone. It's usually not humor, it may have been funny the first two minutes, it doesn't work. Period. There are a couple where people get insanely frustrated and yell out. This is funny. The first or second time. After that, you've seen one, you've seen them all.
I also watched about 3 minutes of some of the obvious joke LPs ya'll were talking about on the previous page. Yeesh. Some of those are actually worth watching for the idiocy. For a while. My brain would try to escape after a few.
I saw a couple that were very informative. I liked these. They knew the game inside and out and could tell you the what and the hows. Those were mostly good. These are much rarer though.
So this is what it comes down to. I require the LP to A) informative, the player to have an understanding of the game and make notes if need be. and C) funny is a bonus. More SSLPs meet this requirement than VLPs.
This is all fine and nothing against VLPs. I just enjoy watching "How It's Made" over "Everybody Loves Raymond". And when there's humor, it better be A material and not crappy B comedians.
So like I said, final word I shan't say anything for or against anymore, just wanted to let you know I gave them one more fair shake!
Alright? I mean, you don't have to write us an essay. I honestly don't care if a person likes VLPs or not. Of course most of them will suck. Most of anything sucks. Just gotta find what you like.
SoulEye has been leaving me comments and sending messages on the VVVVVV LP. For those of you who don't know, he's the guy who wrote the music for the game and designed some of the harder levels in the remix level pack.

I use videos sometimes, but only if it's a really crucial(or cool) event, but I know better than to talk during them.
The thing to remember about the first Xenosaga is that it isn't a video game with abnormally long cutscenes, it's actually an anime that you get to play every once in a while.
I once played through Xenosaga (even did some grinding) skipping the cutscenes. Finished in, no joke, 10 hours. There are at least 30 hours of cut scenes on the disk.
That being said, I am thinking of doing an LP of King Arthur. Is this a good idea?
I am thinking that I would need advisers (for general stuff) and Knights that could determine their own progression.
edit: Syphyre you might try Chip Cheezum's vid LP's. Especially 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand
The OP doesn't have the site where they put their actual LP's, so you have to find them at the LP archive or go here

It's actually more like 7-8, at least according to this. I just finished it a few days ago, and just let the cutscenes play because otherwise I wouldn't have had any idea what the hell was going on. Although I still didn't actually watch them or listen to them closely, I was also watching other things at the same time.
Honestly, it starts off really, really slowly, but after awhile starts to get more fun to play. Pretty much everything about it is still way too slow though. I finally picked up Radiant Historia and I'm playing that before I start Xenosaga 2 and try to get through that one.
Yeah so as I thought I don't have my GTA saves anymore so I gotta play Ballad over if I wanna finish it. I'm considering doing what Doctor Roosevelt is doing with his GTA LP (because I haven't copied him enough already) and just streaming it, assuming my computer doesn't explode trying to play it and stream at the same time.
It would likely be on the weekend because well I work 8-5 PST so I wouldn't get much done on weeknights. Would any commentators actually be interested in that?

Stream play with co-commentating? I can't remember the last time I saw that done but it must be complicated to arrange.
Edit - To which I should ask, what kind of tools (sites, programs, etc) should be used to make it happen?

Adus if you'll let my sorry excuse for commentary fly, then I'd love to do so stream commentatin'
EDIT: Henroid, not to put words in Adus' mouth, but the tools for stream commentatin':
Skype
a stream site (my preference is justin.tv)
Audacity to save recording in a quality form
Xsplit for capturing and streaming and/or Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder
Well, I'd be using Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder and stream over Justin (Twitch) because it auto records and apparently has a youtube upload function. People commentating would just need Skype. No audio recording necessary since the stream would just be recording my audio.
It's not perfect as 1: people in the call would have to mute the stream therefore would get no game audio, not that it's super important. and 2: They'd have stream delay. But it would only be by a couple seconds, hopefully.
It also has benefits, though. Mainly being I don't have to worry about video and audio editing. Though that also means people have to put up with my potentially multiple failures.
I might do a test tomorrow evening (Sunday) if one or two people want to help out.

Like I said before, if you'll let my stupid shit fly I'd be up for 'helping.'
I promise to minimize bad puns!
EDIT: Also, what are you using to screen capture? I'm pretty sure FMLE only takes inputs but doesn't have a capture option in and of itself. Like I said, I've been using XSplit for the moment.

Wait. Would they still have to mute the stream if they had headphones? I always thought that one muted the audio so the mic wouldn't pick it up, which wouldn't be a problem with headphones.

The stream itself would play the skype call, so unless you want to hear your voice twice over muting the stream is a good idea. And headphones to boot.

The thing to realize with Xenosaga is that the cutscenes aren't just there for screwing around. There's a ton of plot running through them. The longest set (the hour some-odd right after the Woglinde) keeps on being important throughout the entire series. I got to the end of III and ended up replaying I just to watch that hour and suddenly a whole bunch of stuff made more sense/had been very well fore-shadowed.

SkutSkut I see you having the Clive Barker's Undying LP and Clocktower. Enlightenblum did Civilization.
It's confusing atm but that's what it looks like. Remember the author of the LP is below the name of the LP not above it (even though there's a bar separating the two)

Yeah, it might just be me then I'm on that classic thingy.
I just did some basic video tests and the stream looked okay, but it could have been better. I'll mess with it more this week, but I at least managed to get it streaming.
I'm thinking of doing the first BoGT stream tomorrow or Saturday. If you feel like taking part and I don't already have you on skype you can add me: adus-aristaeus.
I don't know what time or if it'll even happen for sure, so obviously I'm not expecting anyone to sit around waiting all night, but if I feel like enough people are around I'll probably just start. Having a scheduled time to record the videos was always kind of a pain and the whole idea of the stream is to make it more laid back and less of a job anyway (at least for me).

Blame the new forum for really screwing with this. Trust me, I am working on a re-write of the thread. It's just... taking longer than I was really 'planning.' In my defense, I'm working double time at my job while I look for a replacement and ffffff I know this is terribad.
There's really good LPs springing up / finishing around here. I even managed to start SF2 up again. Even though I'm again a month behind. See previous short paragraph.
In Lp related talkings, I'm watching the Heavy Rain LP currently. But I'm confused...are there people who actually think that is a good game? Because...it's not.

They can have horribly unfunny jokes, though!
Anyway, the Metroid Other M one is pretty good. The game is so horrible, it's like a shared trauma.

By the way Shining Force 2 is out of hiatus, maybe Adus will leave me alone about how I abandon things now. <_<

And it depends on how good your internet is for things like that. Plus, you should probably have someone ELSE hosting the skype call.
It was basically necessary for that LP though, considering slowbeef's sense of direction.
