I'm pretty casual when it comes to using Steam, but no policy / piece of the system seems to be giving me the finger as a user / consumer / customer. So maybe you can enlighten me as to how Steam would suddenly become a malevolent tool (or how it already is one, somehow)?

I hate the way slowing sales for the Wii are worded. It's always made to sound like the total sales are gonna somehow kick into reverse, like Ferris Bueller's idea for Cameron's dad's car when it came to the total mileage.

Even if DD only becomes super lucrative at some point, you will always see physical games in stores, or at the very least, boxes with download codes in them.
This is because Nintendo will never drop the physical model, and can you imagine the other two letting them be the only platform left with racks of games on store shelves?
Used games provide a huge incentive to get away from physical media. Consoles are a way off, but who buys PC games in a box these days?
It'd be interesting to see a study on that. Probably a lot more than you think. A lot of games that are a few years old get down to impulse buy price in stores, and there's always a long line at every store whenever a WoW expansion comes out.
I actually know a few people who have PC's and don't have internet access at home. Yes, it's shocking. I don't know what they use their PC for other than gaming... doesn't make much sense to me to own a PC and not have internets. But those kind of people would buy boxed PC games.
Personnally, the only time I buy a boxed game is when I order it from Amazon. I haven't bought a PC game from a brick and mortar in a very long time.
I don't know what it was, but last week I bought Sims 3 as an impulse at Fry's even though it's been on Steam for several months and at a reduced price. Same with Civ 4 the week before that. Got the Complete edition for $20 (gotta love when a game's bullet points include "DRM Free!").

Cosplay is actually an important element in the game. The strength of your heroines will change depending on how they’re dressed. Doki Doki Suikoden has over 200 kinds of outfits including jackets, swimsuits, sailor school uniforms and socks. Lots of socks. There are over 30 kinds of socks.
While investigating mysteries, players run into battles. Doki Doki Suikoden uses a simulation battle system where you control the protagonist and three heroines. When the girls take damage their clothes take get torn up.

Exactly. And this is fine, whatever. But when you start attacking some of the greatest games of all time for being "49 dollar pieces of plastic," then it might be time to stfu. It's kind of confusing too because I would have thought that a game developer has played a lot of games, including those pieces of plastic. And therefore fully realize why those games are 49 dollars as opposed to 1 dollar. Those games often take years to create, have huge development teams, and can take hours upon hours to complete. People play Angry Birds while they're taking a dump. He also has to know that his game is not innovative or original, and in fact a stolen idea. I don't know though, maybe this guy really is this dumb.
That said about development costs, there's nothing wrong with thinking Angry Birds is a better game than Mario Bros. Whether or not it's a good value is up to the individual consumer, but of course most people are going to prefer the cheaper iPhone apps.

Probably not, but when a game gets to the end of its development, you often hear about people being let go from the developers and it's reported as "publisher has no faith in the studio OMG FAILING GAME AND INDUSTRY CRASH!" when you'll hear from people who actually do this for a job, that it's customary to hire on people for the development of a game, then let them go at the end. It's not the same as a company going under desperately trying to cut its costs.
So, Game Informer just posted a really, really interesting history of Volition on their website. I honestly never knew that they were some of the same guys who did Descent.
I'm old.. I didn't know they did anything besides Descent, Descent: Freespace and Freespace 2. Kind of wish they'd go back to freespace. They just don't make them like that anymore.
It was a pretty interesting day yesterday at my university. The President of Capybara Games, and one of the higher-ups from the Entertainment Software Association of Canada were at my university for a panel about the video game industry. It was pretty interesting hearing them speak about the indie developer scene in Toronto.
This was at a business school so they talked a bit about the business side of things and how business students could help indie game devs. I actually have some questions for you slash and RainbowDespair if it's alright with you guys. I just want to know if it's any different in your area.
