My girlfriend and I just got hooked on the BSG reboot, and we're almost finished with the second season. I hear there are some movies, and then Caprica, but not all of them are that great. We just want the good parts.
Is it like Mass Effect 1 where there's a certain order that's best to go through them in, and a bunch of them just aren't worth our time, or should I just gobble everything up that I get a chance to, when I get a chance to.
I did it chronologically (in BSG time) with the exception of the mini series (the prequel thing) and had a great time. Honestly, the webisodes can be watched whenever as they just add depth but it's pretty funny what they mention in those that isn't referenced at all (the biggest of these being to do with aspects of Gaeta's character)
On a related note, I think I might be the only one who doesn't recommend watching the miniseries first (I know you're way past that). The way I see it, if completely removes the tension (which I really enjoyed) of the whole first series by just telling you outright who is who

I really enjoyed Caprica. It was just a very, very different show from BSG. I think it was better, in some ways.
Anyway, I'd watch everything in the order in which it aired.
Miniseries
Season 1
Season 2
"Resistance" webisodes, which I think are on the Season 3 DVD (they're not bad, but definitely optional)
Season 3
Razor - a movie that takes place mostly in season 2. It has some great moments, but adds little to the overall story, and has one little bit that won't make much sense if you haven't seen the third season (and, come to think of it, didn't end up making much sense anyway, but that's another issue)
Season 4.0
"Face of The Enemy" webisodes (also 100% optional)
Season 4.5

I'd think you'd watch Caprica first if you were really insistent on seeing it. It does take place before BSG proper.

Yes, but like any prequel, it portrays events the significance of which would not be apparent unless you're familiar with the overall story.
Like I said, I think it would be best to watch everything in the order in which it aired.

Which you would become aware of as they transpired in the time line. It works both ways.
