Blank Youtube Screen

It just started today. I wanted to watch a movie trailer and even after the page loaded, the screen was black. There was also no bar underneath. I could watch the trailer just fine on another website and Hulu is working but for some reason, Youtube isn't

I uninstalled and installed Adobe Flash Player, restarted my computer, checked on another browser to make sure it wasn't a Firefox problem (it isn't), and I'm currently running a full computer scan in case there's something wrong with my computer


Does anyone have other suggestions?

    Are you on a school network or something? Maybe Youtube is blocked.

    I'm at home. In any case, it's working now. My fiance just called and told me to clear my cache, cookies, and what not. We didn't know if it would work but it did

    Actually I had this problem too. Despite clearing cookies and stuff and trying different browsers nothing worked. However I could watch videos embedded in posts and stuff just fine. Now it works all of the sudden so I have no clue what happened but seeing that it seems to have gone down and come back up for you at the same intervals I think it was probably an issue on Youtube's end.

    You're using either Firefox or Chrome and use AdBlocker. It interacts with pre-video Youtube ads every now and then and prevents the ad from playing - also preventing the subsequent video from playing. Either refresh a whole bunch (eventually you'll get lucky and not have a pre-video ad) or disable Adblocker when viewing Youtube videos and you should be set.

    It wasn't that. Disabling adblocker did nothing (and IE didn't work either which doesn't have an adblocker). Besides, not every YT video has ads but not a single video would work.

    Were you getting sound but no video? If so, try moving the window around while the video is playing to see if the video suddenly slides into view. Also try toggling between full screen view.

    Well like I said the problem is gone now, but for the record no, there was no sound. The video would not load at all, including the control bar.
