I already picked up shadow wars from walmart on tuesday.
My review:
WOW! I can't believe how 3d this product is. When i first tried to pull open the side of the box, it wouldnt open! I had to get a knife and 'cut' along the 3d packaging to break the 'celophane', then 'tear' it away. Once i had done this, i 'pulled' on the side of the box and the 3d effect really showed throught it was like the box opened up away from the screen!! Then i went to 'pick up' the game, as if i was actually holding the cart!! The instruction manual was FULL 3D and flipping the pages made each pop up, getting closer to my face almost like a real book!
has anyone seen any screens of regular DS games stretched out on the 3DS upper screen?
kinda worried, but I didn't mind it at all using my DSiXL. The 3DS upper screen looks to be widescreen format, which worries me a little. don't want all characters looking fat.
I think it has bars so it's as wide as the bottom screen
Not the best vid in the world but he clearly mentions black bars on the right and left sides of the top screen, and it's in upscaled mode. So the aspect ratio is preserved, although there may still be an option (GBA SP I remember being able to switch old GB games between square and widescreen).

Ok, I'm starting to seriously debate keeping my Amazon order of SSFIV. It says that it won't arrive till the 4th-7th. That is a pretty long window between release and actually getting the damn thing. Also the page now says, "Buy a 3DS Game, Get a $10 Credit for a 2nd qualified 3DS game." It used to say "Buy a 3DS Game, Get a $10 Credit on your next purchase." Am I grandfathered in, or did they just buttfuck me into having to buy another 3DS game now? If they have screwed me over on time and the bonus, what would my best choice be at this point to get the best deal on a game or two?

Hooray! Maybe not as good as the TRU deal, but good enough for me, and additionally matches the Kmart the deal for the system. Only downer is that you have to wait for the orders to ship before you can use the credit.
Think I'll be getting 3 games now: SFIV, Pilotwings, and Ridge Racer.

What i would do is pre-order one game so it ships release day, and then you can stack the $25 and $10 once theyre emailed to you when you put your order in for your second game.

Yeah! And it was a pretty nice event too. The store manager opened one copy off all the launch-games, and let us try the ones we wanted to try before purchasing
I preordered this on Amazon with Prime expedited delivery on Januray 23rd. It releases tomorrow and it's 11:41pm here and it still not yet dispatched. Apparently lots of people who preordered from Amazon UK in the past week have already received theirs.
I'm hoping mine isn't dispatched simply because of the one-day delivery thing, but if mine doesn't arrive tomorrow, heads will roll.

I didn't deal with things like you've got but my gut feeling tells me that you're OK. They usually cancel orders that have serious changes made to them after the fact.
I finally got to see a 3DS. I had no issues with sweet spots or anything and when I let my wife play and I looked over her shoulder it didn't look bad either. Here's a trick that I did that may help people who see the 3D as blurry: focus on the screen rather than the objects in the game. Don't let yourself get tricked into trying to look at the things in the distance in the game like how you would an object that was far away in real life.
Yeah. Hopefully it's a little more open to firmware change than previous DSes, that'd be something I'd like. Lewie also mentioned not being able to save your FC as a QR code - that seems like an odd omission and I'd hope they can add it.

From reading CAG experiences, if they don't honor your original deal, just keep pestering customer service until they do. CAGers pull of some crazy stuff with the Amazon CSRs, but you've got a legitimate claim here.

Too late, I already canceled it cause I'm not waiting a week and a half for my first 3DS game to come after I pick up the system.
It's not that I was getting headaches (a common concern, but nothing that I experienced) or even that I found it distracting. It's that after a while, I hardly notice it's on; instead, I'm more focused on the activity of playing the game itself."

Stores are supposed to receive an email when their pre-orders meet the number of their initial shipment
