Somewhere cheap to stay in London for the marathon weekend

So, LewieP's Daddy has taken the place of LewieP's sister's boyfriend's mum in the London Marathon, as she's broken her foot. Its a good job he's in training for the Manchester 10Km, else he'd have no chance.

The problem we have is we don't yet have anywhere to stay - he only decided to do it this afternoon - and since he's not found a new job yet (made redundant a week ago) we don't have lots of money to spare! Does anyone know of a cheap place to stay in London, that doesn't have bedbugs(!) (stayed in a dodgy hotel with my mum last year) and that won't break the bank? We're probably driving down, as the train fare is over £90.

Thank you!

You might want to take a look at www.airbnb.com Someone linked me to it when I made my New York thread, and it looks like I'll be using it. They give you the option to search for whole apartments if you are not comfortable with renting a room in someone's house/apt, and at least from what I have found, the prices are better than a lot of hotels.
