Well, I am glad I picked up a Druid. Pretty quick leveling (28 in about 3 days) and a lot of gold to boot (for a 28).
Thanks.
Warlock, Warrior, and Priest to 60 over the course of my WoW lifetime along with level 30ish Paladin, Rogue, and Hunter. But the Druid is still my favorite toplay. I have a friend who wants to roll some alts and I'm seriously considering leveling a balance druid with him just to be one of the few who actually tried to level one in that tree. We'll see how that goes ...
As far as feral vs resto and balance go, I'm feral now but I'm always conflicted between staying feral or going resto because I love both specs so much in both pvp and pve. I'm constantly conflicted between the two and I have to keep telling myself to stay feral for now.
Balance has always been one of those O_o specs to me personally but I've always fully supported other druids who wanted to go that route.
It is indeed, but one can solo that as well. The one from BRD is the Claw/Rake one of which there's a better one using Thrallmar/Honor Hold tokens to buy.
D'oh!
It was a looong time ago (and I'm old). And it's still worth getting.
Hello, first time poster longtime lurker blah blah
Anyways, I felt the urge to reinstall warcraft after stumbling upon this thread and am currently playing on Dark Iron as a druid, of course. By far the most fun class I have played yet
Welcome back. And welcome to playing a class that well....I mean, we don't like to brag, but we're clearly superior to everyone else. Shhh..just go hug a tree or something, they'll never suspect you.

Well with a miss you lose the damage and the energy spent on the attack. That is why +hit and reaching the 8.6% hit is so valuable.
Ok, but say the very next special you do is a crit, so you've now made up the lost damage from the miss, plus another 20%, and gained a combo point.
Should always treat the to hit cap like the defence cap. Until you reach it, it is the most important stat. Because of that, websites that rank gear can be slightly misleading once you reach the cap. If you then need to compare items yourself I always go by the rules:
-Stats are always better (ie 20 STR is better than 50 AP)
-Crit is often more important than AP. (Therefore agi > str in most cases)
I really need to get rid of these mok nathal clan rings. After hitting the defense cap the resilience is useless, I'm only keeping them around because of the armor. Are there other rings besides the justice badge reward that gives armor?
theyre actually the new gladiator t5 "equivalent" shoulders (they have +healing. but they also have a lot of armor and stamina and a bit of resilience so I dont care and im not waiting for another t4 shoulder token drop)

The best two initial bear rings are the one from heroic tokens and the violet signet ring at exalted rep. Both are easy to get if your doing any end game raiding and will last you a long time.
Also - resilence can be quite usefull - while it does not add to dodge or your chance to be missed, it does essentially allow you to have less defence and still be crit immune. Very good for juggling gear sets or pushing stam/armour up if they are too low.

That was my question. I still don't see why hit is the most important, and we just saw one set of guidelines that did not value it the highest(emmerald's).

The reason why you can't value it the highest is that it has a reachable cap. I personally think Emmerald overvalues to hit but he does so because he assumes that you have none to start with. Then again, if he valued it on the assumption you had met the cap - would it even have a value at all?
Until you reach the cap every time you miss you are granting your target pure damage mitigation. ie. they take NO damage at all. Since cat damage is primarily yellow - its has to be better to make sure every special does damage and then try and make those specials crit than to pump your crit and take the chance that all your specials may miss (specially since this damage is limited to over time based on energy ticks).
No - no maths to back me up as its hard to track down that type of thing at work but I am sure it would confirm it (I hope ). Anyone else have something concrete?
That Idol you guys are talking about, the one Strat Dead... Is that something that is a "must have"? Should I be dragging guildies through Strat Dead to kill Magistrate Barthilas 80 times until the damned thing drops?
Especially if I don't expect to be tanking until I hit 70. I mean, the thing looks pretty good, but the drop rate looks abysmally low.

The first boss in Durn gives a stam/armor/defense ring that you can get two of if you did something silly like me and took the resto Kara ring (I was resto at the time!). I know you said you have hit the non-crit cap, but maybe those will allow you to resocket/change out some gear.
So I finally caved and decided to get on the daily quest bandwagon. Went to Skettis to finish collecting my 6 shadow ash or whatever it is, and the first talonite I killed dropped the Staff of Natural Fury. Having never in my 2.5 years of playing had a BoE epic drop while soloing, this was a bit exciting for me.
However, I'm not a feral, I'm boomkin. I will never be feral, because one of my good RL friends who I play with has staked it as "his thing." He currently is away from WoW for a summer internship, gone for the last 3 weeks and for the next two. I told him it dropped and he nearly shat himself. He would love me if I gave him this staff. However, selling this staff would put me well on the path towards 300 riding and Swift Flight Form.
Does your friend ever have a chance of going to Kara and getting Terestian's? If so then sell it and get your epic flying skill. I have one that dropped for me in SV and it will probably collect dust after I get Terestian's. If not then it is probably the friendly thing to let him have it.
I will never be feral, because one of my good RL friends who I play with has staked it as "his thing."
O_o
The staff will remain fantastic for pvp, but for pve, Terestrian's will defnitely trump it, as will Braxxis for tanking. I'd say sell it for your skill unless the guy's a pvp freak.
I was wondering: is a holy paladin/healing priest/resto shaman as weak as a resto druid? I've been feral for more or less 10 months before I respecced to resto, and the lack of oomph freaks me out.

I mean the guy's not a "pvp freak," but he does enjoy PvP hence his interest in the staff. It is entirely possible that he will have access to the Stranglestaff at some point in the future.
He doesn't want me to go feral because he doesn't want to lose his future Kara tanking job to me. He'll be a good tank, he's a big min/maxer player, but I 40 man raid tanked as a warrior for almost two years. I don't want to step on his toes.
Back to the main issue, how much could I reasonably get for it if I decided to sell?
2000-3000 easy. Maybe a lot more if you make a post on your realm forums and throw it on the neutral AH for a bidding war. Announce it in trade that you are putting it on the Neutral AH too.
Ok, with my current tanking gear being worn in armory,
Which pvp (honor) pieces are worth going after? I don't have enough defense from other items to start replacing clefthoof set just yet, but I'm getting close. I'm working on heroic badges for the ring of unyielding force and slooowly grinding CE rep for an Earthwarden. Between those things, I thought I'd run AV now and then to bank some honor for some of the 70 pvp pieces, but I can't really see any that are attractive, but maybe I'm missing something.
EDIT: Since armory appears to be down, I'm really looking at replacements for Shoulders of Assassination, Manimal's Cinch, and maybe Umberhowl's.
Yea..I'm not so hot at arenas on my druid sadly. I always hesitate on what I should be doing. Cat? Bear? Caster and Cyclone? Throw a quick Tranq? And I end up not really being effective.
"Desu chain cyclone that guy!"
"Desu quick heal!!"
Now I'm stuck in caster form with no mana.
"Man desu you didn't do much damage that round."
grrrrrrrrr
One of the top feral druids in arena chimes in on page 2 with some very interesting stuff. Its a good thread to read if you're interested in doing arenas no matter what your druid build is.

Only the epic ones are really worth the honour. In the old pieces I grabbed the generals leather belt for tanking as its literally one of the best belts out there (good armour, lots of stam and agi). I replaced my shoulders of assassination with arena ones. Umberhowl's collar didn't have a replacement - it was the best. I am not sure if the updated gear is better yet - haven't had time to check.
You don't have to be crash hot at arena to get points either. I play 3v3 with 2 RL friends. Takes about an hour a week to get our 10 games done. We hold a 1600 rating and that nets us 450-500pts or so. Sure, you only get an item every 2-4 weeks (armour wise) but still, its very little commitment for guaranteed rewards.
We were talking about all the gear druids carry in another thread or lack of druids carrying gear. I just finished cleaning out my bank and managed to clean out 1.5 bags of gear I deemed not longer needed. This is what I'm left with (plus the gear I'm wearing). I'm sure many of your inventories are just as crowded with gear.
Well that's your bank, and holy crap why do you have so much gear there, unless you only carried one set on you?
I carry my tanking and dps gear(these have some overlap, but less than they used to) and healing gear on me, and in the bank I have one bag full of balance gear, and I believe one more with some resist gear and a few dps pieces that I hesitate to sell yet.

Sound good, I'll work towards the belt then first. I was working towards the arena druid staff, but it seems like I'd be better off going for shoulders before the staff (which is just for a DPS set upgrade).

Actually that druid post doesn't seem too bad, but I'm only on page 1.
Has anyone seen the "Nerf Druids 5" movie made by Azgaz?
Was linked on the wow druid forums.
(last time I checked, those forums were down)
Was good. Not as awesome as Saqe's newest mage video, but I liked the soundtrack on Nerf Druid's V better.
