The most telling thing for me was when cruncher finally went for idra's back rocks to the north.
1) Idra counters into cruncher's natural.
2) Cruncher sees it and a-moves his single control group back to his natural.
3) Idra anticipates cruncher's badness and sends his corruptors out to prune the errant VRs.
4) Idra still ends up not being cost-effective against the VRs because VRs are super effective and loses because cruncher decides to 1a to victory finally.
What could've Idra done differently? Waited until 1.3, hold the same ridiculous macro advantage he had over cruncher, then have gosu micro to fungal down the VRs without losing his expensive infestors to blink stalkers.
So in other words, not much.

or he could do like he is doing in game 2 and not let cruncher get a million void rays and colossi by being the aggressor in the midgame in an intelligent way
And that is how you deal with Cruncher's composition... Hulksmash before they can get it up. What could Cruncher have done different there? Drops so imba!

Yeah I hear drops are good when you play someone bad that has a single control group for their army and don't know how to split it up in response to multi-pronged harass.
Trust me, I know. I've been a proponent of the "zerg is strongest in the mid-game" school of thought for a long time now. However, 1a deathballs will always get my contempt.

This is definitely the part of the solution, but I think in general it's bad game design to have the balancing component of an army comp be "don't let them get that or else it's over".
Yes, in any game if the counter to something is "stop them before it happens!" is the solution than it isn't balanced.
i wasnt saying if it was balanced or anything
people asking what could idra do
and he showed us
I was being serious, I just think that if there is an unbeatable strategy in a game and the only counter is to stop it before it happens then the game isn't well balanced or fun. Not saying anything in SC2 if like that.

this is what I was thinking
hydras dominate everything P had except the 4 colossus
also it really seemed like idra could have busted down the entrance. instead he took the whole map, filled it with creep, and then died.
but i feel the deathball is weak early and you have to exploit that before the protoss gets to 170 food
or something
might just be me being an armchair general though
Hold me.
EDIT: BM creep!

hydras do not dominate fully charged voidrays, especially in those numbers.

How long do you think until IdrA comes out to call a 2base 6gate "cheese"?
If idra had just done a bunch of spines or something with his massive drone lead. But I guess FF and Stalker imba is more true.
