Did Idra just lose to the walkover? I stopped watching.
For what it's worth, I wouldn't be reveling in this so much if Idra weren't such a tremendously poor sport... He definitely seems to have better control than Cruncher.
Haha wheat making the common nerd mistake of not getting the joke "Really!?"

Nothing to do with timing there. He went for ovie speed because he probably wanted to scout or drop again. If he got burrow he MIGHT have held it. But then, force-fielded ramp, so not sure.
If this was any other Zerg player, nobody would even question how retarded this series was.
Only reason people even like this is cause they're Idra haters. Cruncher won with 6 gate and a-move death ball off of 3 base, yeah, very exciting, very creative. *rolls eyes*

or he could do like he is doing in game 2 and not let cruncher get a million void rays and colossi by being the aggressor in the midgame in an intelligent way
edit: in reply to kambing
This is definitely the part of the solution, but I think in general it's bad game design to have the balancing component of an army comp be "don't let them get that or else it's over".
How is that anything new? It's always been a fundamental component of SC2's balance - when the opponent invests heavily in a late game build, you attack early to stop it from happening.
The deathball was kinda silly, but then Idra showed how that could be stopped in the next game.
6 gate is hardly retarded though, it's a pretty common 2 base allin that zergs really should be prepared for. Idra had a hilarious drone lead, and with 5 spines he could probably have held it.
But it's easier to whine about p imba and how colossi, void rays and force fields all have to be removed from the game. Also warpgates.
Shitty player 6 gates his way into the next round! GG!
More like IdrA beat himself by being a cocky moron. Cruncher deserved it more.
Bad 1 control group protoss don't deserve shit.
I love how people get angry when someone plays in a way that they think is inferior. If it wins, it wins - who cares how many control groups the guy uses?

Yup, and that's the problem with roach openings. Roach speed, overlord speed, or burrow, pick two.
Given the number of roaches he had out, even with burrow, he stood a good chance of losing his 2nd base unless the act of burrowing scares cruncher off.

Well a Protoss won.
So he must be a bad player, buff zerg, poor IdrA, QQ.
Or, you know, IdrA did something incredibly risky and Cruncher did a common 2base push and punished him for it.
BUT NO GUYS NO CRUNCHER IS A BAD AND IDRA SHOULD ALWAYS WIN EVERYTHING EVER BUFF ZERG

Yeah, I know. Sucks. Ah well, saw this coming. I think Idra should have waited for 1.3, it's odd that he knew about the infestor buff and said it might be OP against toss and not want to play on that patch.

This is a tournament, there are no points for style. The player that figures out the best way to win deserves the win. If a 1A deathball ezmode strat is the best way to win, you'd be a moron not to do it. But either way you guys are ridiculous claiming anyone that can beat Idra, no matter the means, is an objectively bad player.
No. Cruncher's play was flat out unimpressive. It won him the series sure, but none of it made me like his play style.
I don't really like him either, don't get me wrong. He does the standard Protoss strats and doesn't really do any interesting stuff.
But that doesn't make him a "bad protoss," it just makes him boring and a copycat.

Exactly. I don't think anyone thinks Cruncher is actually bad. Any of them would rape the shit out of anyone here. But watching Cruncher play is honestly like watching 5rax reapers. It's stupid how he can play the way he does and roll people.
I mean, overall it was solid play, but none of it was impressive. I don't doubt that cruncher is a good player, but he hasn't really proved it to me yet.
Cruncher's play wasn't impressive. That's what makes this so entertaining. If IdrA can't beat a couple standard Protoss builds done sub-optimally, maybe that says something about IdrA's skill. And any time IdrA gets knocked down a couple pegs, I am entertained.
Guys, its just that Starcraft 2 is just an imperfect simulation of some other game that Idra and other Zerg are playing. Its not fair that Cruncher or Protoss play Starcraft 2 and take advantage of the differences in between the imaginary drone game that Idra was playing and SC2.

I wouldn't say they were done sub optimally, idra just didn't counter or take it seriously.

I just love the whole thing because IdrA was like "he's a garbage all-in player, I'll walk over him" and then he got convincingly rolled in games 1 and 3.

edit - well, in this case, the more arrogant asshole.
Neither do cocky Zergs that take risky expansions without proper defence against the incredibly common 2-base 6-gate push.
The Zerg way is the only way to play SC2!

i dont care how he won, he won
fuck it
Yes, he's clearly a bad player.
...
This whole "so and so shouldn't have won, they're bad" bullshit really needs to stop. If they won, they're probably not that bad!
QQ more.

Protoss = too good now. So I guess that applies to all the strats.
got it captain

If you were taking me seriously at any point you were already making a huge mistake.
But for the record I don't think Cruncher is "better" than IdrA, I just love to see IdrA lose because he's a shithead.
I also hate, hate, hate it when someone loses, and then immediately people say "oh the other guy shouldn't have won, he's really bad."
Well, he won.
So I guess he's not that bad.
