I've submitted an app to be an enforcer for Prime this year. How long should I wait to hear back from them yea or nay? I'm worried if I wait too long there will be no more passes available for purchase if I don't get the enforcer gig.
Thanks!
As oxfroggy said, go ahead and buy now, and if you get accepted, either sell or refund your badge.
Also, just to allay any fears you might have, no one's been accepted yet. Apps are still being processed.
OK, I know this is OT but if you're from either Portland or Eugene can you give me ideas of what to do?
Could you be more specific what you are looking for?
more like is it a good idea to go watch a college football game on my own cos it'll be a new experience for me. plus i have no affiliation i just want to go to experience what it's like to be in the stands.
College football doesn't start until the week after PAX (which is great for me since I don't have to miss a Huskies game). Besides, the less association you have with U of O, the better. </petty rivalry talk>
Don't know about Eugene (related to my above rant, I'd probably be shot on sight, so I've never been), but Portland has plenty to do. Lots of brewpubs, Powell's Books, Voodoo Doughnuts, worlds smallest park, or you can just walk around downtown and marvel at the "wonderful" hipster population.
Is there any incentive to book through PAX like priority wristbands like some events do or is it just lower prices they've worked out with the businesses?

Discount room prices and protection against getting bumped to another hotel in case of overbooking.
If you book through one of those other third party discount sites, and the hotel overbooks they can bump you without compensation. Booking through OnPeak ensures that you stay at the hotel you booked at or receive some form of compensation in the rare occurrence that you get bumped.
Sweet thanks for the information! I just got done with sakura con and they had priority wristbands if you booked through the conventions, but this is nice too just knowing this.
Parking is $25+ per day. If you're flying in, take the light rail from the airport, don't bother renting a car. You won't need it unless you want to leave downtown. If you want to avoid valet parking (and limited access to your vehicle), the WSCTC parking lot is right across the street from the Sheraton.
if you decide to leave your car downtown anywhere, it's going to cost you a lot of money. Do you have any other options like transit?

I think the cheapest parking I've seen is by the hospital (which is like 3ish blocks from the convention center). Last time I checked it was about $20/day.
If you're not planning on driving at all you can park a ways away and then hike back to down town. I would recommend parking on some random sidestreet in the eastlake area (not thaaaat far from downtown and reasonably safe area). If you do that you can ride the S.L.U.T from South Lake Union back to the Westfield Center.

I have an option for transit but I only booked my hotel till Sunday so means I have to bring my luggage with me to the final day of PAX?
Or is it possible to have my hotel hold it till I depart for my trip back home (w/ tip obviously) or does the convention center offer this service (I know the San Diego Comic Con does)?

Most hotels will hold your luggage after checkout until you leave for the airport. If you're unsure, just give the hotel a call and ask.
Hey I read the 10 posts and read the part about PAX complying with the ESRB ratings... I may not have read it right because it is 4:30 AM but, here is my question (please don't flame me, I'm tired -_-)
Say there is a game, like say... "Call of Duty: Black Ops" or "Halo:Reach" and theres games going on. I am 14. Would I be allowed to play these games at PAX?

PAX doesn't take any responsibility for the ESRB Ratings, but most of the publishers/developers will abide by the ratings.
Albino, I don't see all the games when I'm there but over the last four years going I've only been had to be 18 and up for Duke Nukem. You should be find but if there is an issue the company will state whether you can or not play it, upfront.

Ok i have a question that wasn't answered in the FAQ. I plan on coming here by plane but need a way to get from the airport to the convention center. Does light rail take you directly to or anywhere near the convention center? Also how much would it cost to take light rail?

The light rail is $2.50, I think, and it drops off at the Westlake Center, which is a few blocks down from the convention center and area hotels.
Can you turn the volume down? It's hurting my ears!
No, unfortunately, the volume cannot be turned down; the knobs on all the amps were taken off by sneaky Rock Gremlins. If you think that volume might be an issue, we suggest this time-tested concert junkie trick: bring a set of earplugs to help muffle the sound. Convenient personal sound dampening, available in several fun colors!
Just wanted to add that if you're going to bring earplugs to a concert to make it quieter, make sure you get "musician's earplugs" or "high-fidelity earplugs". These are earplugs with channels in them that attenuate all frequencies equally. Basically, they just make everything you hear quieter, without changing how it sounds.
This is in contrast to "regular" earplugs, which just try to block out as much sound as possible. However, since regular earplugs are much better at blocking high frequencies than lower frequencies, everything will sound muffled and you'll just hear the bass.
High-fidelity earplugs are more expensive, but worth it for this purpose. You can get a pair of Etymotics for $10 on Amazon; just search for "high fidelity earplugs".

So some friends of mine go to NorWesCon every year (a sci-fi convention in the Seattle area). Apparently after the vendor/dealer areas close down and most panels are done, the things activities afterwards are somewhat limited. I know there's stuff like a dance, and a masquerade, but other than that it sounds like it's all parties. So our friends are always talking about this party, or that party, that is hosted every year religiously for their convention (ie, the Biohazard party).
Previously, we always just drove up from Tacoma for the day and drove back down in the evening, but this year my husband and I are actually spending the night downtown for the first time for a PAX. So... what do people normally do after the expo hall and panels are done? Are there Secret PAX Society parties? Is Gameworks the place to hit? Is it just fend for yourself? Fill me in
there is lots to do! panels go all night, some theaters have movies, tabletop, PC & console free play all go until closing. Not to mention that some companies put on their own parties. Just keep your ear to the ground and you'll figure out what you want to do.

Quick question about will call. I'm Canadian, so I'd either have to pay the $16 to get my pass shipped ot me, or pick it up at will call. Thing is, I don't want to spend half of the first day in line there waiting for my pass. Is will call open the day or two before the event starts, so I can pick it up early?

Typically will call is open on the day before PAX for people to pick up their passes ahead of time.

Last year my group skipped the saturday night concerts and hung out in the common areas of the convention center upstairs. 10-15 people were playing kung fu, people playing DS on the sumo chair things (which are incredibly comfortable by the way). Specifically we were in the band showcase area where the bands were selling their merch. I think it was Protomen that were also up there hanging out while there were only a handful of other people around. Just hanging out was one of the best PAX experiences we have had.
ok, i couldn't find an answer within the 1st 10 posts. . .this may sound dumb, so i bought four passes for my bro, my friends and I and and if by some lucky chance i get picked for the omegathon how does that work? is it for all four passes or only for the one who registered and paid? which would be me

Only the person who registered is eligible. So you're brother and your friends are SOL.

fair enough. i've been going since 2007 but this is the first year that i've preregistered and able to go all 3 days, so now i get a chance to participate, although the odds are slim :P

So. Wait with that omegathon thing..If one of my parents registered it (I'm 17 almost 18) then does that mean only they are signed up for the omegathon? Or can they just put me into the omegathon if they win? How exactly does this work?
Because if they get in and I can't take their place then they will be out in the first round.
Only the person who registered is eligible for the Omegathon. They can decline if they get selected and don't want to participate. I'm pretty darn sure they can't designate someone in their place.

I just changed the name on the registration. That should work. :P
I'm trying to get my 3 day passes and when I click on the Register button or link. It takes me to the page keeps loading and then a blank page. I have a url but the page doesn't display at all. I'm using Chrome and I tried Firefox & IE, I also had my 2 room mates try on there computers and they get the same blank white screen.
I know that it isn't sold out as, I don't see it plastered everywhere on the forums or front page.
So I'm not sure what happened to the registration page someone broke it, and it wasn't me!
Try giving it a chance to load, even if it says it has finished loading up top. I registered the first hour they were up and was having the same problem as you. I refreshed over 50 times and nothing. Frustrated, I left the room to get something to drink. When I came back 3 minutes later it was up. I was using Safari.

Now I just have to register...Going to have the money this week. Then I'm going to get hotel room and plane tickets.
I'm planning on leaving my car there and not driving out until I leave for home if that helps makes things cheaper or worse?
