I haven't really been following Rockstar lately, but I'm surprised to see it on the Wii. I know Reggie was in talks with them, but still.
New York, NY - February 6, 2007 - Rockstar Games, the world-renowned publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. Manhunt 2 is the debut title from the newly formed Rockstar London studio, which is developing the game in conjunction with series creator Rockstar North. The Wii™ version is being developed by Rockstar Toronto. Manhunt 2 will be available this summer.
“With Manhunt 2 we have tried to create a game that stays close to the original concept of chilling suspense and stealth, whilst pushing the game design and storytelling forward,†said Sam Houser, founder and executive producer of Rockstar Games. “We are also excited to have our newest development team, Rockstar London, working on the title alongside our two established UK studios, Rockstar North and Leeds.â€

One that also has other reasons not to sell well (past controversy/rating/content).
Man that would have been cool.
Where Madness and the Fantasical Come to Play
I would expect Rockstar to do some Wii specific controls. On-screen instructions like "Waggle the remote to stab him in the neck with a broken bottle" are going to be weird, though.
I can't wait for "throw the remote+nunchuck in the air and pull back to suffocate the enemy with a plastic bag!".
was the first one very good?
Seconded. Pretty much everybody of importance, apart from Cash and whatsherface, are dead, and how.
Putting aside the gore, Manhunt was actually a pretty solid stealth action game. It could've used tighter melee combat, but it had some decent duck-and-cover gunplay alongside some of the better stealth mechanics I've seen this side of, say, earlier Splinter Cells or MGS's. Not what I'd call $50 good, but it made for a good rental and I might pick it up if I can find it cheap.
Now playing: Teardown and Baldur's Gate 3 (co-op)
Sunday Spotlight: Horror Tales: The Wine
It was pretty decent, quality-wise.
But I felt very, VERY dirty playing it.
I hope they add more stealth gameplay features this time around.
I think having a game like this will be really healthy for the Wii. It'll go a long way towards Nintendo shedding it's perception of being for kids.
I can see a ton of controversy coming from this though. Parents aren't going to like having their kids mimic actions of bludgeoning someone's head with a meathook (if that is the route Rockstar takes).

This PSP -> Wii trend is pretty shitty though. Look at Alien Syndrome.
Anyways I very much hope that besides the inevitable "swing the controller to saw their head off" functions on the Wii it will also support the Classic Controller.
Anyway, that's another story for another thread, and I know that Ubi is totally seperate and not related to R*, but it was just an example.
Well, maybe R* will be able to do something interesting. We'll see. I guess if nothing else this sort of thing helps Nintendo shake the 'kiddy' image. Which, actually, seems to be working slowly but surely thanks to the Wii's design, the success of expanding the market with the DS, and the widespread appeal of Wii Sports.

What's the chance of a GTA game on the Wii? This is definitely good news.
If it doesn't happen, it'll be because they were given big bags of money by sony.
If they're going to put a GTA on the Wii....
Let's assume they do another "Liberty City Stories/Vice City Stories".
That will go from PSP->PS2->Wii. GTA5 on Wii? .... I doubt it.... but I don't know.
Anyway, it would still certainly help the Wii. Something like LCS/VCS may seem like a poor thing to port from a PSP to a console, but LCS sold something like a million or so copies on the PS2. GTA, even in its.... watered down form.. Is still apparently a big deal to lots of people.

Manhunt falls easily into my top five favorite games of the generation. I adore everything Rockstar puts out but this game eclipses everything else- Red Dead, Bully, Warriors, even the mighty GTA. Never before have I sensed fear so palpably or thrilled to a single kill.
This is a game I'd actually buy a Wii for. Where even Zelda couldn't convert me.
Half the reason Manhunt is so great is due to Brian Cox's voice acting though for the Starkweather character. Since using Starkweather again won't really be an option I hope they can bring in someone with equal class.
I'm doubting that will all be the case though. This is the first we've heard of the game but it's coming out this summer? You people saying it's PS2 to Wii are a little optimistic. This was clearly a PSP game from the get go.
Actually, I'm not so sure. About six months ago, there was Wii preview in Newsweek (or was it Time, I'm not sure). Article was pretty basic stuff and mostly told about how they played Wii Tennis. One comment I did personally found interesting was how writer of article said that Manhunt was coming to Wii. It was just so strange, as whole comment felt out of place. I had even forgotten whole thing before reading this thread.
Eh, I'll be trying it on day one either way. I've dearly loved just about any product Rockstar's published that isn't Grand Theft Auto (and I don't even HATE those, I just get bored of them about thirty minutes in).
Good news for the Wii though, whether or not they all end up good games we've seen Scarface, Godfather, Manhunt and Driver all announced in the past few weeks giving the Wii a broader scope of games.
And why random Nintendo rep would knew about it six months ago? No, this is something that has been planned for long time.
Rockstar Toronto also ported Max Payne to the PS2. I think the team they have working on the Wii version is really just a studio that ports Rockstar's games from one platform to another.
Is Toronto the team that did the Stories games for PSP?
Where Madness and the Fantasical Come to Play
Every little detail just set the mood so well. I loved the Director's little comments, all the random mutterings from the bad guys, etc. I liked 9mm as well, so that helped. I made a friend or two play it, and they just never got into it. As the manual said...turn off the lights, turn up the sound, and get ready to kill.
I can't wait to see what the sequel will be like.
Nope. They've done Max Payne PS2 port, Oni PS2 port, GTA: London 1969 and The Warriors.
I'd like to finish the original, I borrowed it from a friend and got about halfway through before he took it back. I may pick it up if I can find it cheap anywhere, I don't remember a whole lot about it besides the fact that it was the most brutal game I've ever played.
Also, no 360 version wtf?
Rockstar: Uh, okay. Here's Manhunt 2.
Nintendo: ...
Rockstar: What? Is there a problem?
Nintendo: You misspelled Grand Theft Auto 4.
I'd kind of like to see a sequel, for all that. I enjoyed it enough to play through to the end. But a lazy mission pack wouldn't be enough to get me to part with my money.
Read my book. (It has a robot in it.)

Considering I'm usually a nonviolent (ok, non-killing) kinda guy I am surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did.
I only hope that there are more executions intead of just 3 (quick, deadly, grusome) wih different camera angles.
