I purchased a Motorola V3xx phone over the weekend. It's a neat little gadget, and quite the upgrade from my old T637. I've downloaded Opera Mobile and Google Maps Mobile, and I was wondering if anyone else had any other suggestions on neat little apps to download?

I figured this wouldn't be a bad place to ask this. I'm getting a Dash either tonight or tomorrow, and it's a phone built on Windows Smartphone like the Blackjack or the Q. I know there are some of you out there that own those types of phones, so I was curious about applications and such that would be good for this kind of phone. Any suggestions? Any comments about the OS/phone themselves?

mz: There's unfortunately not a lot in terms of application development for the RAZR outside of games. I had a RAZR for a while and hated that aspect of it. The games that do exist are kinda of shitty because the RAZRs as well as the rest of Motorola's four-character phones are really underpowered. The original Gameboy had better games than available on the RAZR.

Aoi: I picked a Blackberry Pearl over the Dash just recently. In theory the Dash has the option of more software being a Windows Mobile device. In practice the Dash is a pretty limited devices as far as third party software goes. WM5 ships with a fair amount of first party software and most good third party apps aren't freeware. It's also a relatively underpowered for a WM5 device.

The Pearl is smaller than the Dash by a nice margin and is just about the same in terms of capability. It's got a nice first party browser but Opera mini is available for free and is much better. One thing the Pearl requires is switching from the Unlimited data plan ($29) to the Blackberry data and e-mail plan ($20). The Blackberry plan however doesn't include HotSpot access like the unlimited plan so if you want HotSpot access it's another $20. Thus far I like the Pearl a lot more than the Dash or MDA even though it's less of a PDA than either of those.

I love my new BlackJack, mostly because I'm fairly new to Windows Mobile, and the fact that I can write software for it in .NET with (relatively) little in the way of red tape is awesome. Does anyone know of a decent Jabber client I can use for it? I spent hours sifting through Google and random mobile sites, but haven't been able to find anything definitive. Everything I grabbed either wouldn't install on my phone, wanted $30 without guaranteeing that it would install on my phone, or wanted $600 for a license to use a .NET library so I'd be able to write one for my phone. Kind of a pain in the ass.
