Too bad Iron Man is so bad you can get punished for getting a hit with some of his projectiles. There are much better assists.
Bonus points for every button suddenly becoming obnoxiously dangerous to press because fucking Iron Man is so bad.
Try using Spider-Man. Your one actual projectile attack either takes too long to go off to be any good, doesn't last long enough to be any good, and is also almost useless as an assist because the hitstun decay on it is incredibly high. Then you have heavy attacks that are slower than the biggest characters in the game and do among the lowest damage. And then you can drop combos because Spider-Man's hit ranges are so short that unless you're directly adjacent to an enemy, they get pushed too far back for a lot of his regular hits to continue the combo.
And don't forget about the part where you can drop combos because Spider-Man's standing M goes so high that multiple characters can be missed by it when they're standing and others can be missed by it if you start the combo with them crouched. And then there's the part where Spidey's ranged throw attack can't actually link into his own super which is supposed to reach anywhere in the screen because Maximum Spider was so poorly designed that all an enemy has to do is fall quickly for the attack to miss. As far as I know, the only character you can Web Throw into Maximum Spider is Sentinel; everyone else is too small for the first hit to land.
I'm not trying to one up you, I'm just saying that I feel your pain. It's pretty obvious some characters were lovingly crafted and others were lucky to even be mostly finished.
EDIT: And I know Iron Man isn't actually as bad as all that; I just like to whine about how crappy a job they did with Spidey-Man.
Which is what happens when they ghetto copy-paste a character and only give him one new move.
Really, you can't fix the dumb hitboxes on flagship Marvel guys while you're making masterpieces like Wesker, Dante and Ammy? What the fuck is that c.H on Iron Man? Why can't you re-do the hitbox on his launcher to hit consistently in chain combos (coincidentally, the way "new" guys like Wesker/Dante/Ammy/Phoenix work)?
For every excellent design element in Marvel, there's always something equally infuriating for us nitpickers. But hey, it's Mahvel, baybee!

As a Spider-Fan, it's kind of depressing. I thought he was one of the few Marvel characters that Japan actually liked.
I enjoy his Ultimate Web reset enough that I could overlook most of his faults. I just wish his normals had more consistent hit boxes and helped move him forward or something.
I was telling my brother. With the nerfs that most of the other rushers are getting, Zero will probably be one of the better characters in UMvC3.
He was already good, but didn't get as much exposure because of Wolverine...I think the situation will be the same with X-23 too.
Zero still won't be as good as Wolverine now, but he's still damned good. The changes might balance out (no hard knock down on Buster), but either way he's powerful.
He has such crap for HP, though /whine.
Who knows, though. He might be overshadowed by Firebrand / Strider etc. Lets not forget Cable..err..Rocket Raccoon.
Actually, even related to that, I'm wondering how much of a buff keep-away will get in this team. Kinderparty might be able to come back to the game since his chosen playstyle MIGHT NOT be inherently inferior in this game.

Zero's buster charging BnB takes actual effort to master as well so I can't imagine him being super popular all of the sudden despite a relative power increase. At least not Wolverine levels of popular. Your "street cred" should be safe, Biz.
The Arthur buffs don't look substantial enough to me to hint that they want keepaway to be a better option. Which is a shame because its so much more fun for some of us.

Well...there is something to be said about playing characters who aren't too popular. Mainly the avoidance of mirror matches.
Ha! Gimpyfish is part of my local group...well, he's from Seattle but he goes to school near Spokane so he plays with us. He will forever stick with Cap.
I may have just gotten a PS3 copy of MvC3 and my controller modified again at the house while I'm sitting at work. Anyone here still touch the PS3 at all?

Reminds me. They (Marvel) are apparently thinking of doing / ARE doing a Guardians of the Universe movie and a Doctor Strange one....so that explains Nova, Raccoon, and Strange.
New Ghost Rider movie...check.

Yay SYNERGY lol.

I don't suppose there's any way to get one's XBL voice messages onto one's PC (via usb or something) is there? I had a guy send me not one, but four VMs raging about his loss. Normally I don't bother publicizing this kind of thing, but it was pretty much the best thing I've encountered since starting to play this game.
My online profile has a lot of "accidents", so I'm usually playing at about 9th Lord, using the "any" option. I beat this one guy, he sends me rage mails, which progress from "you suck and are bad at the game" to "this isn't even my account if my brother was here he would own you I even remember he owned you once". My text replies involve the suggestion that he spend time in training mode instead of whining. After the 4th message he invites me to a 2p lobby where his brother has apparently taken over. He says "wow, I'm impressed that you came here. most people never accept the challenge. get ready for it." He loses the first match, saying "okay, you won that one, let's rematch." He loses the second match, and now he's angry, "what the fuck? I'm a 4th Lord!". He loses the third match, and screams about how I suck at the game. I leave the lobby at this point, and about 10 minutes later he sends me a message about how he's just gonna laugh about this and get on with his life, I'm now perma blocked, etcetera. I play him a couple of times later via random ranked matches, and discovered that blocking communications to someone does not prevent you from yelling at them during the game itself.
On a related note, I realized earlier that the "any" rank option will only match you with other people who have also selected that option. At 9th Lord, I qualify as "same rank" for anyone who's Beginner to 5th Lord. If I choose any rank, I end up facing almost exclusively higher ranked players, and will never play any of the 50 Beginner-5th people that I'd just met before changing the option.

Is that why you get stomped horribly by a Captain America team even when you run Phoenix of all things?
