I had just moved to Seattle then, and was staying at my friends house across the street from the crescent bar on olive and heard the commotion going on and followed some groups around. Saw a harry potter on a table top, shirtless, at the Chapel. Many laughs were had. I definitely plan on following around this year, or possibly joining in, since i'll be drinking anyway.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you need to join in or stay away. There are between 400-500 people participating in the TWDT and getting the groups in and out of the bars is a major undertaking for the groups and the bars. There is no room for non-participant tag-alongs whose presence means it's likely that someone participating may not be able to even get into the bar.

Although the above may sound harsh, it's spot on. There was one bar last year I never saw the interior of :(

I make this reply to basiclygeek and Steel Fire. I meant no ill will by saying that I was not going to drink, I am not a big drinker but I would probably drink socially with other PAX attendees. I was also unaware that the TWDT was big enough that it was going to butt up against fire code limits. I know that other events that are not officially linked to PAX that have non-participant followers with out a problem. I assumed that TWDT was maybe 50-100 people not 400-500.

And to nam3less, I meant the word spectacle, it means a public show or display. You didn't need to put it in quotes. I would be, or more accurately would have been, cheering on people as they had fun. Nothing wrong with that but you made it seem that I would have ill intent and would be deriding or mocking those having fun, that is not in the spirit of PAX.

PAX is where like minded people go and enjoy the company of said like minded people, just because I am not going to drink competitively does not mean I look down on people like some snob.

Sorry I've been M.I.A. on this for a while.

Planning is still early, and tickets will probably go on sale sometime in July or maybe even August. I'm not really worried about giving people tons of time or soliciting ticket sales anymore. The event kind of speaks for itself. Venue isn't locked down yet. You all rule.

Yeah, each team gets absolutely massive. I participated last year (Team Slytherin FTW) and getting in and out of the bars was such a massive undertaking for each event that until the last event or two, I didn't really get much of a buzz on. Of course, I made this up at the last bar by ordering a pitcher of beer just for myself after getting my shot of victory Patrone. :D

Really, we're not trying to offend here but the bars are going to be absolutely packed wall to wall with drinkers trying to do the challenges and we just don't have the room for spectators inside. I doubt anyone would have any problems with you BS'ing with people outside of each bar though.

I know you are not, like I said having never been I did not realize how massive this event had gotten, that last quote was more a critique of Namel3ss's tone and word choice than anything else. I hope everyone has fun and no matter who wins that everyone has a good time.

    Hi all!

Good news: I'm pretty sure I have the venue locked down. Just going over final pricing and details to make sure it's a good fit. I'll probably make an announcement regarding the venue in the next few days, and after that we'll start voting on the menu and stuff.

Excited to be planning this again. As much work as it is, it's really one of the highlights of my year.

Okay, double post. Venue is confirmed.

We're changing things up this year and going with Jillian's Billiards Club!

    http://seattle.jilliansbilliards.com/

    Highlights include:

Pool tables (in their own private room, so no crowding like at The Taphouse)
Ping pong (in its own private room)
Arcade (in its own private room)
Darts (in their own private room)
    Full bar, dedicated bartender
Appetizer buffet, voting to commence soon.
Drink ticket included in the ticket price - first time ever!
Cheaper ticket than last year - probably around $35!

We're renting out the entire first floor of the place, so this year we're going to scale up the event to 250 people. Do you think we can sell 250 tickets? I'm counting on you guys to sell this thing out!

The menu voting will commence in the next few days. Pretty much whatever you guys decide will be what we eat.

I'm really excited. The space is MUCH bigger, they have a lot more in the way of fun things to do, and the event is going to be cheaper overall. Pretty much a win-win.

Almost 1 mile, exactly. If you don't feel like walking the 20-30 minutes, there's light rail that will take you straight up Westlake St. a few blocks from PAX, and drop you off 3 minutes from Jillian's.

Thanks, I got a chance to look it up sometime after making that post and it looked far but only 26min-ish walk ain't bad at all. Definitely down for this, will be keeping an eye out for when tickets go on sale.

I am guessing that it is 21+ due to there being an alcoholic drink ticket included with the purchase price. I could be wrong though.

It is open to all ages. Normally Jillian's is 21+ after 9:00pm, but they make exceptions for special events. I'm not really sure how they handle the under 21 drink ticket thing. Worst case scenario, you could sell it.

Keep in mind, though, that the ticket for this thing is going to be like $35. I don't know if that's cheap food for you. The arcade is also not included in the ticket price - pool, ping pong, and darts are, but for the arcade you'll be on your own.

There was no PPP for PAX East. I don't organize anything for PAX East, just for PAX Prime.

To get in on it, simply buy a ticket once tickets are available. That should be happening sometime in July. Ticket price will likely be $35, and that gets you food, a drink, ping pong, pool, and darts for the duration of the party (3-4 hours, can't remember which atm).

And just so the organizers know: Thanks to work I've got a fancy piece of paper that says I'm a 24 hour medical care provider which basically means First Aid training on steroids. I've also got crowd control training (and fire fighting, but now I'm just being silly). I know you guys haven't asked at all, but I figured it costs me nothing but a minute to let y'all know that at least one guy will be running around who's emergency trained.

The organizer (singular) appreciates it! Of course one always hopes that there's no need for training such as yours, but it never hurts to have around.

I have a short list of people who have volunteered to help hand things out, check people in, etc. I'll put you on that list and let you know if I have any need you'd be suited to fill. :)

Righto! Lemme know if you need me to PM you any info (real name/cell number/etc.) I work as a ship engineer so all of my certification is handled by the Coast Guard just so yanno it's legit. Also I have two years work experience doing port security so I'm pretty adept at working crowds already.

Hopefully nothing happens and I can while away my time making an ass of myself at Rock Band and eating all of the food, but if it does I'll be on hand.

    Last Supper Snoop Dogg says:

    TICKETS ARE NOW ON SALE!

Good parts from the (now edited) OP are copy/pasted below:

I'm pleased to announce that due to our ever-growing numbers, we're rolling out to Jillian's Billiards Club this year!

    http://seattle.jilliansbilliards.com/

    Highlights include:

The entire first floor all to ourselves.
Pool, darts, and ping pong, included in the ticket price, in their own room separate from the eating area.
    A fucking arcade.
Private bartender and a full bar.
Full stage, for Rock Band or whatever.
11 HDTVs and a huge projector, all of which we can hook consoles up to. That's 12 screens.
    Appetizer buffet.
    Cheaper ticket than last year!
    Alcohol is... wait for it...

    wait for it...

    wait for it...

    ...

included in the ticket this year! (one drink/ticket)

We're also doing a raffle, just like last year. With more people in attendance and a great variety of prizes given away last year, I hope everyone contributes some cash. One raffle ticket is included in the price of admission.

Tickets are $35 and they're ON SALE NOW. We're renting out the entire first floor of this place, so this year ticket sales are being pushed up to 250 people! I'm counting on you guys to spread the word and sell this thing out, because as always, no one fronts the bill for this thing. We gotta sell out to pay for the event.

Subscribe to the thread for updates, tell your friends, buy your tickets, donate to the raffle, and I'll see you all at the Post-PAX Party!

I believe you can go into your ticket info area and change the info around for them. It's possible somehow, but I'm not too familiar with the purchaser side of Eventbrite. Just the organizer side. ;)
