Fresh install of Win7 64 Gigabyte GA-785 MOBO
and every single mouse in the house. Currently using a MS wireless set although I could nab a wired anything at some point.
When I start the computer, the keyboard works fine and I'm able to type my password. My mouse on the other hand, is fucking weird. The cursor moves. Right click pulls up context menu. Left click drag makes a selection box. But I can't click on anything in the taskbar. However, if I ctrl-alt-del and run the task manager (or presumably any other option given), my mouse gains its full ability back.
Fake edit:
Since typing this post I've switched the wireless receiver to the back USB ports instead of the front. The mouse is no longer wonky and I've restarted a bunch of times. I suspect I will run into this problem again despite this so I have chosen to post this in hopes someone has another idea.
In my device manager though there is listed an unknown device. I have no idea what it is. I have an internal Rosewill card reader that is currently unplugged (as I thought it might have been causing earlier problems). Windows detects this Unknown device as a problem but can't find the driver for it. Rosewill claims it is a plug and play piece.
