Samorost: games-as-art impressiveness.

edit: Link to the SWF, so you can play it fullscreen without ads... it's really cinematic, and deserves some singular, cinematic presentation, imo:

Check it out. It's a point and click adventure style game, done in flash. And it's pretty simple. But the graphics are goddamn mindblowing, in a games-as-art way.

I mean, the game is just beautiful. Check it out:

samorost2-2.jpg

Only the first chapter is online -- to play the second, it costs $6.90USD/3.80GBP/5.50EUR. That said, I'm definitely considering it, despite how short it is, because the art direction here, and cuteness of the puzzles is just fantastic, especially for a one man project.

Also, as you may have noticed, Samorost2... is, well, Samorost 2. It IS a sequel, and there is the original available. I still recommend you start by playing the sequel first, as it is much more impressive, and kicks in the mood much better.

Original, though, when you're done with #2: http://www.samorost.net/samorost1/

This is pretty cool. I'm currently trying to figure out what to do in a room with some centipede-ish things and a flying bug.

This has been around a while, but it doesn't stop it from being awesome.

Also see the Quest for the Rest, I think by the same guy.

Yeah, I figured it out right after I posted it. Maybe it'll serve to interest more people because it's really fun!

Just beat Samorost 2 for the second time. I didn't forget a thing. I love this series, just imagine the potential of a handheld version...

[spoiler:fff3744bf0]Click the right side of the rust tube, the little guy will walk over and jump, breaking it. This should cause a fly to buzz around and land on a mushroom. Wait for a pill bug to walk up to the lemur and click on him (the lemur, that is), and he'll eat it, leaving behind a pile of...something. Click on the fly and he'll buzz over there. Clicking the pipe again should scare the fly, and he'll go over to the web.[/spoiler:fff3744bf0]

I could be wrong about the exact order, but that's the basic gist of it.

I just wanted to say that you shouldn't give up so easily. These games are all really short so you should enjoy them while you can. Live inside the world a little, try to get things on your own for a bit.

I mean, I guess you shouldn't get really mad at it and hate the thing, it's just that one give-away hint can be like 10% of the whole game.

Oh I know, I've played most of these before, cept this newer one.

And yet I'm stumped at this part still.

Edit: Well well accidently beat it, haha.

    Yep, that's correct.

A bit easier to follow directions:

    [spoiler:fe5be0b679]
    - Break open the pipe, by jumping on it's right side. A fly will fly out.
    - Get lemur to eat pillbug/roly-polie as the bug is walking past it.
    - Lemur will throw up, or poop out, or something, a pile of... something.
    - Click on the fly. The fly will buzz around, and, smelling the crap, will be drawn to it.
    - Jump on the pipe again. This will shake off the fly, and he'll buzz around, eventually hitting the spider web, and getting cocooned.
    - Jump to the cocoon, and swing from it into the hole.
    [/spoiler:fe5be0b679]

What was that other flash based side-scroller that was artsy? I remember everything was black and grey and the animation was very fluid.
